The egg roll adventure in Ebnat-Kappel I thought Easter Monday, what better way to start the day than with a delicious egg roll? Ebnat-Kappel seemed perfect for this - after all, 8:03 a.m. is the perfect time for a late breakfast or an early second breakfast - depending on how you look at it. Well, the "welcome" was more of a whispered greeting from the universe, as it was probably both too early and too Monday for human enthusiasm. Present were an older woman and a younger gentleman who, it seemed, were still wiping the night from the corners of their eyes, while the surroundings still exuded a peaceful chaos of "we'll fix it." “It’s no problem,” I thought to myself, determined to indulge my craving for an egg feast. The question about the egg roll was promptly answered with a "Yes, we have, wait a minute..." and lo and behold, the lady conjured up a transport container full of sandwiches. “Two please,” I said. What followed was a performance of unexpected entertainment value: with a precision that would have rivaled an origami artist, she pressed the first roll into a plastic bag that was obviously intended for a miniature version of the same. The egg filling literally burst out with joy on all sides. When I suggested that you could also use a cardboard box, the epiphany came. "Oh yes, that's a good idea!" the lady replied and promptly fetched it. But just at that moment of hope, she returned with a wet rag just to use it to wipe away the egg mess. My inner Mona Lisa smile smiled sardonically, anticipating what happened next: she wiped the mess away with the wet rag and - without a single thought about hygiene - reached for it with her wet, probably barely germ-free hands the second egg roll, put it in the box and did the same for a mozzarella roll, which happily found its way into a paper bag. As if that wasn't enough hospitality, I asked for a liter of orange juice. “Just get whatever you want out of the fridge yourself,” was the answer I received. Service per excellence - self-service included. Those who understand irony will smile now, those who don't may simply not want to. Clearly the rolls, whose last journey was soberingly accompanied by dripping wet hands, ended up in the bin (may the company forgive me!). Because at the Brötchenbrutschung show I just asked myself: If the handing out of the works of art is so creative, what would the production look like? As an avid supporter of local businesses, I always try to look at the positive, even when the pressure is great - but especially in challenging times, cleanliness, quality and friendliness should be the armor through which no virus or dissatisfaction penetrates. It's a shame, Ebnat-Kappel, this time you missed the ball a bit. Best regards, a local.

I was overjoyed that I was in a high-class café with a huge selection of classic desserts etc., something that is rarely offered anymore, "apple cake with vanilla sauce" and in a style that takes you back to your childhood. Simply great! The staff is very nice.

It's a nice coffee, and the service is very good. There is a large selection and always new creations.

The food tastes artificial, the hot chocolate is as runny as water, the waitress wasn't particularly friendly and she didn't bring complimentary water with the coffee (usually included to moisten and clean the taste). When we reminded her, she came with two strange wine glasses into which we were supposed to pour the water from a small, overpriced bottle. Pretty bad experience.

It is very unpleasant when, as a customer, you have to hear that employees are being bullied by the boss. It wasn't the first time.

I was in the café today, I thought it was really bad. I ordered a double espresso and my wife a cold Ovi. The cup of coffee was way too big and the water was warm. My wife who ordered the Ovi was a glass that was too big and that Service staff only gave me coffee, not my wife, she just left it on the board. I never go against eating or drinking anything here

We were there for brunch on Sunday. Bread selection very good. The selection at the buffet was very manageable, no cheese (except for a single soft cheese) on offer. I then politely asked for a piece of cheese and there wasn't any, the boss wanted it, that was the answer. I think breakfast needs at least one type of semi-hard cheese. The brunch is presented exceptionally well on the homepage. We were disappointed.

Brilliant croissants, canapés with avocado 🥑 & beetroot (<—a must try 🫶🫶) friendly and well-positioned team, fine freshly squeezed orange juice and a beautiful ambience. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you everyone 🙏

Unfortunately the sandwiches have worn thin. There are only 2 slices of meat and a slice of cucumber (which could be replaced with cucumber and lettuce). I also recently bought a vegiburger, which was definitely from the day before yesterday. The bun was so dry that it crumbled... I was a good customer, but the defects are piling up, so I'm thinking about going to another baker.

We were there in Nesslau on a Saturday two weeks ago. The cream slices were thawed. The coffee was undrinkable. I don't understand it, there's a Rolls Royce and a Chimbali coffee machine there and the coffee is stale. The coffee supplier according to cups would be good! I complained and the answer I got was yes, I wasn't the first to complain. I left a card, sent an email, no response. I didn't eat the cream slices (the cream separated from the cream) and I didn't eat the peel either. So don't give me the cheap excuse that you won't pay me anything in return. Answers like this sometimes motivate me to warn other guests about you! I also come from the hospitality industry and was also in the catering field service. As a chef, I also know how to produce a fine cream slice! Sorry for the harsh but honest recession!

I had a very bad experience today, Easter Tuesday. I wanted to eat with my parents at 12:30 p.m. Practically no menus, the cheese slices were more like cardboard. There were old canapés in the bakery's display and the piece of Schwarzwäder was more from the day before yesterday than yesterday. The service was top notch and recognized the problem and apologized several times. There was also a constant draft, it was very cold and uncomfortable and there was no sound of music. It's a shame, we definitely won't be going there again and definitely won't recommend it!!!

Very disappointing and incomprehensible. I ordered a cheese slice with ham according to the menu, Fr. 15.00. I received 2 slices of fluffy crustless toast with 1 slice of ham, gratinated with sliced ​​cheese. Sorry but that's not cheese slices. It's just embarrassing to serve something like that. My complaint was received in a friendly manner, but there was no response, apology, price reduction or anything else. Having known the coffee shop for 30 years, this was probably my last visit.

A great family-run bakery that impresses with its great products at three different locations! In my opinion the best bread in the area and also the flatbreads, the sandwiches and the cakes… simply fantastically delicious! Over the last few months, the Menzi family has been surprising us again and again with new products, such as the oat milk in the café (perfect for vegans and diet-conscious people!) or delicious new cakes and canapés! My family and I remain excited and always look forward to trying something new! Keep it up!

It's great when food doesn't get thrown away. It would be great if it were labeled as no longer very fresh and perhaps sold at a reduced price. Unfortunately it was an unpleasant surprise.

I was in your cafe this week. Very nice service and nice decor. BUT: nothing vegan or lactose-free. Not even plant-based milk to drink a coffee. I think that's a real shame and just no longer timely.

Top service, super friendly staff, gladly again

I was in the car with my two children for just 5 minutes before I wanted to go shopping because the little one was whining. A saleswoman immediately came outside and yelled at me that the parking spaces were only for customers. The saleswoman was very rude and aggressive about it. But then only her colleague didn't show up in the store.

The food was very good and fresh, especially the homemade ice cream was great👍 Unfortunately, there are very long waiting times until you can order + the food arrives. We waited 10 minutes to place the order + waited over 30 minutes for salad + 2 LuasBerg Brie!! This urgently needs to be improved. That's a shame and annoying...There weren't many people outside. Not everyone ate! Hope it improves? THANK YOU

It's rare to find so much friendliness and service: we got rained out on our Hulftegg racing bike tour today and arrived at the Abdi in Wattwil soaking wet. The waitress in the restaurant offered to put our wet clothes in the dryer. We were able to continue our journey after lunch with dry clothes. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!

Were here for Sunday brunch. Relatively small selection, fits the price but very hectic in the restaurant. A few fewer guests would be more pleasant, as there is limited space available. Additional tables were set up. Terrace is also available. The buffer is right next to the weft, about 1.50m away. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is beyond what would be appropriate for the portions and quality!! Even with Covid, additional money is now being made, it is incomprehensible that they charge 1.- for a simple mask!! This was my last purchase from this bakery!

The service at Joshua Bakery at Wattwil train station was unfriendly and couldn't even say hello when I got something to eat. Avoid this business in the future! You shouldn't lose friendliness despite wearing a mask!

I was there on a very snowy evening (around 5:45 p.m.) and saw the board with coffee to go while I was waiting for the bus. I was really looking forward to a warm drink. When I went into the store, the saleswoman told me that she had already cleaned the coffee machine. I was very disappointed! Will avoid this store in the future.

Since I'm rarely in the area, I haven't been able to test the entire range yet. dattello, a patented in-house production in the same way as birnweggen only with dates (and much better than pears) as well as the chocolate cake grand cru have thrilled me so far.

Always very pleasant to shop on the way from Zurich to our weekend house in Obertoggenburg near Abderhalden. Always friendly, accommodating, excellent products. The same also applies to the service in the café. I don't understand the "antics" (I'm very picky when it comes to service and quality).

The staff was very friendly, but it took a relatively long time, 10-15 minutes, before we could even order - the café wasn't full... even the second time I ordered, when I wanted an ice cream in addition to the drink, it took several Attempts to get the staff's attention.

Last Thursday I bought pralines at Abderhalden. From the service to the quality of the pralines: simply catastrophic! The completely untrained saleswoman wanted to put the pralines in the bag with her bare fingers(!)! When I pointed out to her that what she was doing was probably not appropriate in Corona times, she got gloves, but then packed the pralines into the bag with her gloved fingers (the praline tongs were neatly and unused next to them!). In addition, she always put a lot of the same kind in the bag, then the next kind came, etc. It is actually common practice for trained confectionery saleswomen to always mix the kinds. In any case, the whole thing was extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, the quality of the pralines continued in exactly the same way. Average is still a nice expression, but I would simply describe some varieties as barely edible. Never again!!!

Full cafe on Sunday morning! The delicious breakfast buffet attracts locals to the restaurant! Delicacies from the in-house bakery, there is something for everyone! Fast, friendly service! Terrace invites you to linger. Children are welcome! The boss greets the guests personally, puts the dishes in and out of the dishwasher behind the counter and puts them in the jacket! Wow!

Waited 20 minutes to be served. It was very loud and the waitresses had no real concept. We were overlooked several times and customers who came after us were served before us. Ordered 2x hot house chocolate and 2x Engadine nut coupe. Sounds better than it is. The cocoa was. Lukewarm, more like the bottom. The ice cream tasted more like vanilla than nuts. There were also pieces of a nutshell in there. Will probably be here for the last time. Information to the competition on Bahnhofstrasse. Maybe an alternative would be to open on Sunday and do it better.

Very bad price/performance! There was dirt (ash, sugar) from the previous meals on our table, which was not wiped away until we paid. We sat on unpadded chairs on the terrace; blankets and seat cushions would have been desirable in these temperatures! The service took a long time and seemed overwhelmed, the latte macchiato came with a small coffee spoon (= fingers smeared with milk foam!) In general we were very dissatisfied, you can certainly expect more for the high prices!
