Alpe Foppa in Monteceneri

The person at the karts was very disrespectful and the app to buy tickets doesn't work you have to walk to the restaurant every time you want to go to the karts.

The Alpe Foppa Restaurant is an enchanting place at the top of the mountain. The panoramic view is breathtaking, and the cuisine is delicious with traditional dishes and authentic flavours. An unforgettable culinary experience in nature.

For those who love the mountains it is ideal, a few km from Lugano. In my professional eye and opinion the kitchen has too much food recycling.

Very nicely located hut! Beautiful views all around, great terrace, kiosk for quick service for small items and shady outdoor seating. There is WiFi :)

Does this count as antique or “dated”? Quality of the food is as you would expect from canteens/self-service restaurants. There were no small spoons at all, the rest of the cutlery was partly dirty. A positive thing to mention is that there is a changing table available.

Classic canteen as you know it from mountain restaurants. Food (schnitzel with fries) was okay, but nothing special. In addition to the warm dishes, there is also a salad buffet.

Yes you arrive by cable car, lots of parking at the start for only 5 fr for the whole day. Wide choice of hot and cold self-service dishes. Very friendly and nice staff. Prices in line with other restaurants in Alpe. You have to take a tour at least once, the walks are very beautiful. There is also a toboggan available and a beautiful adventure park in the middle.

Lovely place, very well managed, with pianist in the outdoor space. We were really thrilled with the place. Excellent quality food. Excellent relationship between quality and price. Advised.

Terrible restaurant, terrible food. It is better to take sandwiches with you and have a picnic, since there is a lot of space, for that you will definitely be sure that the food will be normal or even tasty, because you will bring it yourself. We came five people, we paid for the lift and the restaurant. This amount in the restaurant includes only the main course. But fruits, dessert, water are not included in this amount. For 3 water and 3 fruit 34 francs. The meat is not tasty, all the food is of the same red color, everything boils in some kind of sauce and fat. The pomfret was good, but the fried potatoes smelled of overcooked butter and looked like they were yesterday. Twisted sausages are tasteless to eat, too fatty. Lasagna is generally incomprehensible, some piece of clay of red-orange color. All I can say is that this restaurant is on my black list.

But just coffee and white wine was great

Visit for six on Monday May 22nd, 2023. Stay away from the tiramisu, or what looks like it. It was inedible. The checkout attendant wanted to report this to her boss. Unfortunately we didn't receive any feedback on it. The remaining portions were not removed from the display.

This time I didn't eat (excellent dishes among other things) but I drank a delicious cappuccino with my husband!! Staff always very friendly and nice!

Unfortunately the food was so-so, the fries 🍟 were soggy and a bit much for a children's menu with a Wienerli 13.-. The raw ham was fine but the mozzarella was in the fridge longer. For five with three children's menus and a tarte flambée and a raw ham plate a drink 90.-

Very clean place especially inside, the staff is kind and attentive. But given the prices (which everyone agrees with since you are truly in paradise) why don't you put more staff at the bar that overlooks the outside? Those poor girls, although professional and kind, cannot work miracles: making sandwiches warm up, drafting beers, making spritzes and selling tickets for attractions... unfortunately they wait too long. I think those who complain about paying 5 fr for a bottle of water compared to a 3dl flatbread which costs 4 fr you would pay for it all more willingly with an easier service. For the rest everything is good both the breadcrumbs and the luganighetta with chips and also really excellent apple pie. Much appreciated outdoor piano bar creates atmosphere without taking anything away from the beauty that surrounds the place, the singer is really very good!

we went to this panoramic place with the family, unfortunately I have to say the problem with the wooden platform which damaged our daughter (she tripped on the wooden platform and all the pieces of wood entered the palm of her hand) the staff was very helpful He kindly helped us with first aid. There is no medical center in the place, in the end we returned to Milan and took us to the Niguarda hospital. You have to fix the platform!, this time it happened to my daughter, but I wouldn't want it to happen to other children.

Very courteous and with attention to detail, very quick but kind and patient in their explanations. A dish of the day that you can combine in over twenty variations, all Ticino cuisine (but not only). E.g. Polenta (the real one, which cooks for many hours) and veal ossobucco (very tender) at 7.50pm!!! Let's not forget... interiors and exteriors completely renovated this year.

Restaurant and surrounding area with especially play facilities ideal for children. I only know the simple dishes like focaccia. They are ok in terms of price and quality. Drinks are rather more expensive (which comes as no surprise at over 1400m). There was no lactose-free milk for the chocolate drink today. When the weather is warm, the buffet and tables with umbrellas invite you to linger outside. The staff seems multilingual and very friendly. We (9/10/11/56) were here for the second time this year and would love to come back.

It's the only restaurant at the end of the cable track so they have no competition. Food is average. Staff is friendly. Prices are ok to Swiss standards meaning not brilliant value for money. There's a nice souvenir shop.

More meat-heavy, you have to look for vegetables. Priced but very fair.

I'm only reviewing the food here. The schnitzel and the soggy fries (15 CHF) were definitely not enough. The location is great and the staff is very friendly. However, new staff in the kitchen should be urgently considered. There is definitely more that can be achieved. At first I wanted to have a lasagna, but after checking it out I decided against it. Otherwise, Alpe Foppa is a great excursion destination for the whole family on a nice day. Even after a hike, it's worth taking a trip to the splash pool.

Cozy place to rest our feet and worm up after a 1h50 hike. We loved the live music that we could listen also when going up on the mountain.

I'm only reviewing the restaurant here and not its location: our menu consists of soggy fries, soggy chicken nuggets, an inedible lasagna and overcooked pasta. It's worth a visit to the area - but it's also worth bringing a sandwich with you.

Nice mountain kiosk, the sled lift is worth trying.
