Altes Klösterli in Zürich

We have eaten there several times and have always been completely satisfied. We have now chosen the Altes Klösterli for a family celebration and are thrilled again. It was just a perfect fit - from the preparatory meeting hung until the warm farewell. We are already looking forward to summer, when the garden will be open. An absolute MUST - the cream slices!

We celebrated our wedding there and we couldn't have asked for a better place. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was incredibly tasty and the desserts were to die for

End the day here after a long visit to the zoo. Perfect! Super tasty food on a small but nice menu that everyone should find something on. The staff adapts perfectly to the guests and also had a quick saying in store for our funny group. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back in the summer to be able to enjoy the terrace with a view of the zoo again.

Great for kids. Beware though, it's full of kids, especially around lunchtime, so if you're looking for piece and quiet, better look elsewhere :) Lightning-fast serving, I literally didn't manage to finish my coffee before the food arrived. There are some vegetarian options, but not a huge variety. Children's menu is interesting, I was surprised to see there are vegetarian nuggets, but no actual chicken nuggets.

We were there for the first time. The reception and service were excellent and professional. Various comfortable rooms are available. Eight of us rated the food as very good. Prices are a bit more expensive in comparison, but justified. There is also a daily menu. The food came to everyone at the same time, even though everyone had ordered à la carte. Congratulations to the kitchen brigade. Large, international wine list. A table reservation is recommended. The location is very nice with a great view of the monkey enclosure and other enclosures from the Zurich Zoo. Next public transport Enough parking spaces in front of the house.

Very nice restaurant, but the price of a burger for children is simply too high, and the toasted buns are simply too hard for children and the meat tastes very bland. Even just a bit of katcheup inside instead of a delicious sauce. (Pity) The white wine soup with half-filled soup pots was also too expensive. The service was also a bit overwhelmed with many guests, we waited a long time to order food and drinks and then we were asked again what we would like to order. It's too expensive for a quick lunch.

For these prices it's a disgrace. The restaurant is located in the middle of the zoo, every stupid person who walks past will find something to eat. The waiter pours the water over his pants instead of into the glass, without apology

After spending a lovely day at the zoo, we decided to go to the restaurant for lunch. It was a bit late so there wasn't much choice. We chose fries and veal schnitzel. Unfortunately the meat was tough and tasteless. At these prices I expect the quality of the food on offer to be better. The view was nice but quality-price isn't worth it. I would not recommend this restaurant….

Hospitality is practiced here by the service staff. Thank you. When we visited (small restaurant) the room was very cold and there was a draft coming from every nook and cranny - very unpleasant. The quality of the food is very good - but the ratio between meat and side dishes is a bit out of balance at these prices. Please change the menu, wine and dessert menus, some of them look a bit tattered.

Sorry, but for the price of a schnitzel it should be correspondingly large and not be outdone by fries. But in Zurich the calves are apparently very, very small. Overpriced for me - also the Rösti with sliced ​​meat. A pity.

Pleasant sitting by the fireplace and good food

Excellent restaurant in Zurich for all kinds of occasions. The place can be reached via public transport. We had a family event and everyone enjoyed the fine restaurant. The restaurant is run by Zurich Zoo.

Yesterday we had a team dinner with a private tour of the zoo. A big compliment for the tour and the dinner in the “Altes Klösterli”. The food and the staff (thanks Sabrina and Anita) were excellent. Gladly again at any time.

Very nice and cozy restaurant with great views and friendly staff. For a drink, great. I wouldn't recommend eating. That's just about average, but the prices are not.

On my birthday, my husband and I were looking forward to a delicious lunch in the Altes Klösterli. The salad and bread were fine, but the quality of the food that followed was poor. Everything was in the pan for far too long, the veal schnitzel was dry and the breading could be removed as a whole, the fries were hard and dried out, and some of the rösti were also hard instead of crispy. Since this was obvious, we were excused from paying for the two menus. This wasn't how we imagined my birthday lunch would be.

30 years after I lived and worked there for 2 years, I have come full circle... Enjoyed the view and shed tears of happiness... I have been looking forward to this day for 25 years. To top it all off, we got into the zoo for free! ❤️lichen Thanks # altes Klösterli

Beautiful restaurant located at the zoo. You can use it both from outside and from the zoo. We had reserved a table and were escorted to the table. We were given the menu. And chose food and drink. Both were at the table very quickly. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The payment process took a while. This should be quicker next time if you are there with a wheelchair user. If we are in the area soon, we will come back.

Was here with friends and their children on the cozy terrace. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, especially to the 3-year-old. If she waved and had another wish, it was happily fulfilled. Food was very good. For a starter I had buffalo mozzarella with tomato salad, then the pork fillet with mustard cream sauce and finally the homemade cream slices. I think the cream slice was the best I've ever had. Really great. Not cheap, but I think the price is completely OK for what is on offer.

Restaurant is beautifully located and easily accessible from Zurich Zoo. Access from the zoo requires a ticket but it works without any problems. Parking space is available. E-charging station is also available. Prices are okay for Switzerland, selection was good, amenities are upscale. Service is good attentive. However, when we visited, the occupancy was low.

Very nice atmosphere, nice view of the city as well as the monkey. The inn, as well as on the terrace, is worth a visit. The prices are fair and the staff is very friendly. The bourgeois cuisine is 1A. My colleague and I can only recommend it.

A quaint restaurant next to the zoo. The dishes are Swiss and the prices a little high for the quality. It's always better to book in advance. The terrace is beautiful and is next to the monkey enclosure. There is also a nice view of the entire zoo. Impeccable service

Unsmiling waiters, super expensive dishes

This beautiful restaurant can be visited both during a visit to the zoo and from outside the zoo. Access is granted from both sides. The terrace is particularly interesting because you can watch monkeys from there. The price-performance ratio is good. The food was very good and the service was also very attentive and friendly. Schnitzel & fries is recommended. It's worth making a reservation.

Hello, we went out to eat with the family after visiting the zoo, We had beef tenderloin, we won't poison ourselves but we will go out with our hungry friend, the beef tenderloin came with three small pieces of meat. The burgers were reheated in the microwave and clearly lacked flavor in the slices and the burger buns are dry, probably buns from 3 days ago

Very nice location accessible from the zoo with fine food and a good view (from the terrace) of the monkeys, the elephant park and the new savannah as well as the ZH Oberland. We came here for my parent's anniversary and we were very happy with choosing this place. We got a reservation even though it was fairly late, the variety and quality of food was amazing. Our server was amazingly nice and friendly. The view from the restaurant opens to the zoo, we saw some monkeys and a goat in the snow outside.

I typically visit Zurich once a year and one of my favorite activities to do while I'm there is go to the zoo. I discovered this restaurant several years ago on my first visit to the zoo. I'm glad we decided to eat there because the food was fantastic. We have eaten at this restaurant every year since when we visit Zurich and go to the zoo. One year we were there on a warm day and we were able to sit outside and watch the animals while we ate. Most years. We have sat in the dining room which is very nice as well. On my most recent visit about a week ago I had the schnitzel and it was very good. I have been to many zoos but I have never been to one that had a restaurant of this quality on the premises. If you like higher end food, I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try. You don't need to visit the zoo in order to eat here.

Yesterday we both (my boyfriend and I) ate their macaroni with minced meat at the time it looked good… but we both ended up the same evening with food poisoning due to eating the same pasta for lunch. to avoid or rethink the preparation of the dishes because it is problematic given the price paid on site.

Price performance is not right, Cordon Bleu cold, food wasn't brought at the same time, ingredients the same as in all restaurants in the zoo, but totally overpriced, service seems borrowed but friendly Pity...

No English menu for desserts or drinks, only for the main courses. Staff barely speak English. For tourist attraction area which Zoo is, I believe its expected to have international language support. Everything is extremely expensive, but not brilliant. Beetroot soup was good, the only thing I totally recommend to try.

I would like to mention in advance that I know this location from previous visits with excellent cuisine. That's why I wanted to go out for a nice meal with a customer this Sunday at 7 p.m. Either the cook was absent, the cooking staff was on vacation, or the stove tops were broken. The food was pre-cooked, warmed up in the steamer and served lukewarm for a cost of CHF180.00. I'm super disappointed, I could have cooked something in Küsnacht 🏡. The best thing was the dessert, which, according to the supervisor, is exceptionally available in a small portion. However, the amount was charged at CHF 12.00 (large dessert according to the menu). Conclusion of the dinner (food) miserable, the best thing was the attentive service. For such a price, I expect fresh cuisine. One of the first tasks of the new zoo director must be the quality of the company's catering.

We were served courteously and friendly. The salad with gratinated goat cheese was served as soon as I ordered it and, together with the veal cordon bleu and the tasty oven-roasted vegetables, formed a completely satisfying meal. With a view of the zoo's Celadage hill and monkeys occasionally darting past, you won't get bored even if you look out the window for a long time. The restaurant can be easily reached on foot from the zoo or by car from outside and offers parking for some vehicles. We liked it, thank you very much!
