We wanted to eat in the old town on Sunday evening without a reservation and "had" to go to this restaurant by chance after everyone was told that the queue for a table without a reservation was long. The restaurant doesn't look beautiful from the outside, but we were really happy with the food and service. The food was very tasty. There were 6 of us there on a Sunday evening. Half of us ordered 3 courses and the other even 4 courses. Nevertheless, two empty plates with the starters were charged at 3.00 each, which was a no-go for me for a bill of almost 600.00. And I find 1 liter of tap water for 10.00 above the pain threshold, that's how much bottled water costs elsewhere.

Best restaurant in Rapperswil with excellent food and service. I stayed in Rapperswil for a week and tried different restaurants, La Vela is the only restaurant that I visited multiple times. Other restaurants in Rapperswil used too much seasonings / salt in dishes, but La Vela’s food tastes just right. Authentic Italian food. I tried grilled shrimps and steak there, both excellent! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Were there to eat pasta. Unfortunately, 3/4 of the shells in the pasta with mussels were empty. I'm not saying you have to look at every shell, but you've seen it from afar. The spaghetti aglioli was very dry, still far too hard and the portions are definitely very small. I took the large portion, for me it was definitely the size of a small one. (The waitress definitely wasn't particularly interested in the fact that the spaghetti wasn't cooked through. It was acknowledged, neither a sorry nor anything else.) We were definitely still hungry afterwards and went out to eat again. We also wanted to drink a martini, which apparently wasn't available in the Italian restaurant. (even though it's on the menu!!) A different drink was then recommended, which cost a whopping Fr. 13.50 and had absolutely no resemblance to a martini (which we didn't know at the time.) For a martini I'm counting on Fr 8-9.50. Unfortunately we will not visit the restaurant a second time.
