Good authentic food. Affordable and good servings.

Although the food is ok the service is at least pathetic. The waiter made me wait for 10 minutes while the order was ready. Moreover, this same waiter was not welcoming and made me wait on a small, rickety table without offering me anything while waiting. I don't recommend this place for take away.

Amagaki is authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine. I love their Ramen Poulet and gyoza - but all the dishes I’ve tried are excellent. The decor of sake barrels and Japanese movie posters adds to the ambiance of feeling as tho you’re in Tokyo.

Very kind welcome, impeccable service and very good dishes. The room is small and the tables quite close together but a really nice time.

Loved it! I had a great lunch there, lots of tasty options - we went for a few starters to share as our meal and it was great. The Japanese Limonade is a bit toi sweet tho.

Today we tried this very nice restaurant which is a change from a Japanese restaurant in Geneva (often sushi in Japanese restaurants). We had 4 starters (kimchi, sweet potato, cucumber and seaweed salad and gyoza) 2 dishes (a pork ramen and chicken ponzu). I liked everything but for me there was a lack of pep in our 2 dishes. But thanks to Amagaki it was a very nice experience.

I've been there a couple of times now, and while it is still a very good adress in Geneva I do feel like the quality has generally gone down a little while the prices have gone up. Food is very good and authentic. I'm a huge fan of gyudon and am happy to have found somewhere I can get very good one. The menu has also expended to include more options, which is nice when you come with friends as you can share a lot of the appetizers. The tonkatsu was however a little dry last time I was there, and the miso soup goes from okay to great depending on the day. Service is generally good, friendly people but sometimes a bit disorganized, especially when the place is packed. The real letdown is honestly the tea. When getting tea in a restaurant I've come to expect getting a teapot (for which I would also gladly pay a higher price). Paying 4CHF to get a small cup of green tea that gets cold really fast because of the small container is not worth it. I'll stick the other drinks next time, and honestly hope you'll change the way you serve your tea cause this is not it. All in all, good restaurant with good food, will keep coming for now.

Food is a bit disappointing for what is supposed to be an authentic Japanese restaurant. There are much better options out there and I do not understand the hype. Atmosphere is good tough and the beef tail broth very tasty!

Not bad but... It could be very good but…. à la “gaijin” 3 stars for the decor ☺️ I was delighted because I love this type of restaurant in Japan called Izakaya... (my husband is Japanese and we lived there together). Unfortunately, I thought I was in a very similar theater setting, well arranged, but without soul. A bit like the Chaplin Museum but it's a museum and that's normal. The + Main dishes said to be good (we had tonkatsu and miso baked eggplant) and friendly served. Ceramics as we appreciate them in Japan. Very good plain rice. THE - Miso soup only provides a standard taste and almost nothing is in it. Green tea is "discharged" in a small cup for 4 fr. This afternoon, no more sparkling mineral water in 5 dl, I was then offered a liter for 10fr. I resolve to take a syrup, a carafe of water not being offered to me. A more expensive Japanese lemonade will be added to the bill instead. An unintentional error without a doubt, I nevertheless point it out. Good music of Japanese songs in the background, I love and I understand many of the lyrics but without interest, the Japanese heart (kokoro) is absent from this place. Note that the takeaway prices are a good third cheaper, a huge difference and there, it may be worth it. In summary, this is a pretty Japanese restaurant, in a very nice neighborhood, which will please you like a good manga; I even suggest that you come in a kimono or yukata…. it will be great. All this remains expensive, not very welcoming. In any case, Geneva is full of lovers of the so-called Japanese atmosphere, with plump wallets, and for whom this will be enough.

Excellent restaurant in Geneva. Japanese cuisine with taste, homemade. The dishes are tasty and quite generous. I have a weakness for curry breaded pork, it's killer. For dessert, don't hesitate to have the black sesame cheesecake. In terms of atmosphere and service, the staff is very friendly and professional. The restaurant is well located near rue de Carouge and we have always found the atmosphere to be pleasant. I recommend it if you want to eat quality Japanese cuisine.

Amagaki was a favorite from the opening. Small restaurant located a stone's throw from our apartment, with an atmosphere and flavors that remind me of good memories of my months in Japan. Unfortunately, we have noticed a big change lately... We were disappointed with the service at my birthday party. Our first guests and we were there at 7 p.m., we had to wait 45 minutes for a few beers. Not enough menus for all the guests. Frankly, a shame. Small errors when serving the dishes were quickly rectified, so hats off. However, miso soups are served 15 minutes after everyone has already finished their dish... I didn't want to make a fuss because we were all in a good mood, but honestly, I was very disappointed... We preferred to cut it short, not wait to have the dessert that was planned, because everyone felt that we were going to having to wait and wait again to have bottles on the table and desserts again. We preferred to take everything away to finish at home. Delicious matcha tiramisu by the way. My opinion comes late, because I learned today that one of my friends has decided to try the experience again because, despite everything, it is delicious. His service was catastrophic, 40 minutes of waiting for three dishes and when served they were not the correct dishes. An entry that never arrived: they learn after an hour that they no longer have the money to make this entry. She orders three beers and the waiter has already forgotten what he should do once he gets to the bar.... I am not giving this opinion with the aim of downing you. I loved spending time at amagaki and will continue to get takeout because it's delicious. I know the difficulties of recruiting in this environment, but it might be time for management to come back and give a hand to the waiters who don't seem to be in the profession. If only in terms of numbers, there were 20 of us and all ready to spend, but no desire on the part of the servers to sell... Furthermore, don't forget that the basic concept is an IZAKAYA type restaurant... it seems a shame to have to ask so much to get the drinks to accompany all the dishes...

I have never set foot in Japan but the decorum does its job perfectly! A great atmosphere dotted with posters of old Japanese films, red lanterns at the entrance and old Kirin posters, simply exotic! The kitchen was great!!! Kimchi is a marvel with long-cooked pork or Udon noodles… what can I say? ABSOLUTELY worth discovering! It was hot that evening and the waiter pleasantly offered us a Japanese fan! An estaminet from elsewhere with all the values ​​that can be attributed to the land of the rising sun: warm and impeccable welcome, Umami cuisine and original decor! To live and relive! Valid!!!

Good evening, Discovery of the restaurant, which I was dying to discover Unfortunately, a flop. I had to wait (and ask) after 20 minutes for my drink order to be taken, while waiting for my partner And the same for him, once he arrived. The cocktails were very good! However, the time to order the dish was the same, very (too) long. But above all I was disappointed with the service: the staff is smiling and friendly but we feel that it's a rush, as if they felt overwhelmed, even though it was Wednesday. It's a shame to give this feeling, we come to have a good time. My darling was served his rice, after the dish... The word that comes to mind would be "disorganized" Maybe come back but eat outside, far from the atmosphere of the kitchen. Correct prices

It’s simple, the place is always full. Beautiful terrace, although sometimes too optimized, great decoration inside. Definitely the atmosphere we want, without kitsch and... ethno-idealized without a doubt. There's a bit of a problem on the plate. The dishes are varied (no sushi) but taste-wise not necessarily crazy. And the bill can quickly climb. The service may not be exciting. Summary, a Japanese to see for the decoration and to try to learn izakaya dishes.

Very disappointed. Not warm welcome. I had to call the waitress 15 minutes after my arrival to order a drink because she didn't come despite several visits to my table! Long wait for the first starter to arrive even though there were two of us, my friend starting to eat because mine still didn't arrive... I received my main course a while later so before my starter!!! Never seen ! The icing on the cake, the starter arrived right in the middle of tasting my dish and oh surprise it was still half frozen (octopus balls and the taste was really not there) ☹️ I had to return the plate explaining to the waitress why. I don't go to restaurants to eat frozen food! A real flop! Furthermore, my friend found his dish excessively salty (I confirm ("after having tasted it)) and he almost didn't touch it. He also reported it to the waiter who replied that it was soy without offering him of alternative. Thank you all the same for the gesture of the waiter, for not having counted my entry "at my request". I would not recommend this establishment under any circumstances! Pure lies in the response (below) from this restaurateur.

Very nice restaurant, warm atmosphere. The value for money is good for a Japanese restaurant in Geneva. My dishes were tasty and well served, the tempuras a little bland, but not the worst I ate in Geneva. Too bad there isn't a real sake menu to taste, even if the one offered that evening was quite good.

Great dinner, delicious cuisine with menu worthy of an authentic Izakaya. The team is friendly and generous, the decor is top notch! The tables are a little crowded, but we can hear each other talking.

One of the best Japanese on my list, I have returned several times, authentic cuisine, a calm and efficient team and one of the best quality/price, and very close to home too. When I go there I have the real feeling of taking a break in Japan for a short while.

Really disappointed… We had reservations for 4 people on a Saturday evening at 8 p.m. When we arrived (on time, I would like to point out), our table had been given to a group who showed up with more people than expected. 2 other groups also found themselves in the same situation as us. Too bad because I was looking forward to trying their cuisine. I'm not sure I'll try it again...

Wonderful setting, like in Japan! Exquisite surprise in Geneva

As mentioned by other people the place is overcrowded and customers are sitting 20cm from each other (even on a Tuesday night), the smell of what is being cooked in the kitchen gets into the dining area, so much that I had to wash all my clothes right away once I got home because they smelled. The picture in attachment is supposed to be a cheescake, which retails 13 CHF. Food was nothing special, miso soup was tasteless. For this price there are better options. EDIT: what i mean by overcrowded is that you do not even have enough room to move your chair to sit and to get out of the restaurant a person was literally eating sitting in front of the door. Given the number of people stuffed in such a small area it also gets extremely noisy, very different than the ambiance that can be found in a Japanese bistro. Also, given the number of customers present it was difficult to speak to staff, let alone have a constructive conversation around the fact that I do not consider fair selling some crushed biscuit with cream and seasame on top as a cheescake for 13 CHF or that the tiramisù was extremely dry etc. While it is admirable that you strive to improve, the purpose of going to a restaurant is to have a good time and not to dissect your recipies or provide feedback on every detail to ensure you can improve.

A little disappointed with my first impression of this restaurant that I was looking forward to discovering. I went there at lunchtime, I'll have to try again one evening. Far too many people, so many that the last arrivals were barely eating in front of the front door. More than 1 hour before receiving the starters, and very long wait between dishes. The dishes were not very tasty (overcooked noodles, vegetable fritters too greasy, etc.) The staff is really very nice, but far too overwhelmed by the number of customers.. I will still try again one evening, because I still want to discover other dishes!

Super authentic Japanese restaurant which offers delicious dishes and good value for money. So we don't hesitate to taste everything and we have a great time there, especially since the staff is adorable and very patient despite the always large crowds. We almost feel like we’re in Tokyo 🗼 I’ll come back often! Just maybe a small comment, as the room is small it's quite noisy so not great for an intimate or business meeting but great with friends!

Booked for 8:00pm on a Saturday. When we arrived she told us the previous service had arrived late and they had just asked for the bill and would be 5min. At 8:20 we went inside as waiting outside in -2 degree weather was no longer feasible. They sat us around 8:30 (it seemed like they kicked someone out of their table to give it to us) It took forever to order and we didn’t get our food until 9:20 - and we didn’t get everything we ordered. When paying the bill, we mentioned to the server that it was a pity that the service had been bad and her reaction was very rude. We were told to “go eat somewhere else” next time. P.S.: the black sesame cheesecake does not taste like cheesecake and CHF 13 seems a bit overpriced for what you get.

The restaurant is very nice, the decoration is neat, the atmosphere pleasant. The food is good, but we found the portions lacking in generosity. For example: 3 small pieces of fried chicken for 13chf, a slice of eggplant for 22chf, a tiny potato salad to share between two, half-filled bowls of rice and miso soup,… We ultimately found it a bit expensive to pay for the quantity served.

Friendly place and successful Japanese atmosphere, however lack of space between tables for passage (tables a little crowded). More or less warm service depending on the person serving you. Not very tasty cocktails. Gooey gyozas not toasted. Tasteless miso soup. Overcooked boiled eggs, and small quantities. Quite disappointed with the kitchen overall. We came on Saturday evening to see if the dishes are better prepared during the week. Do not recommend weekends to see during the week.

A Japanese restaurant to try because it's not like the others we know back home. It's not just the dishes that are different but also the atmosphere rather from Carouge than Japanese as well as the prices rather lower than usual. I advise you to make a reservation because this restaurant is very popular.

Quite noisy due to the popularity and small space but feels cosy still. Will definitely go back once the opening craze dies down a little!

Superb address, guaranteed change of scenery. Succulent and generous dishes. Very rightly spicy and balanced. The decoration is really nice and sophisticated. Excellent service! To do again without hesitation.

Very good place to be and eat. A bit small but goood points to notes: - Japanese ambiance (music, walls and even the waiter says "hirashaimasen!) - great food quality! Gyudon a bit to salty but still! Tonkatsu amazing! Place greatly recommended.

Good experience in this new Japanese restaurant! The restaurant is very nice with this glass side and these blue lights. There is a choice on site and to take away, note that it is a little more expensive on site, but it is still OK. Both in terms of quality and quantity, it was good! We ate well for around 60 francs together. Curious to try the matcha tiramisu next time.

Happy to write the first comment. We were 2 for dinner on a Saturday evening; they had just opened a few days ago. The place itself is a good blend in terms of decoration : it has Japanese touches through posters and fabrics by the window but that's it... and I personally liked the fact that it did not try to be 100% Japanese in its look. The food was very good ! No sushi or "cliché" dishes... Quality/Price on top for Geneva. The kitchen is part open on the dining room but it did not bother us. Service was efficient and nice. I'll be back for sure and I highly recommend.
