Aroleid Kollektiv in Zermatt

Charming “ski in” restaurant located a short walk from the Furi gondola stop. Terrific, welcoming staff with a great relaxed vibe. The French onion soup is delicious. As are the locally sourced meats & cheese.

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff!

Distincly average food. I could be wrong but it feels like at some point a really good chef came in here and created a fab menu.. but that currently the menu is being prepared by someone who doesn't really know what they are doing. Presentation was poor. Flavours were all wrong. Dishes were either tasteless or overpowering. We had a variety of dishes. In particular the duck was overpowered with curry, risotto overpowered with lemon.. etc etc. Michelin starred today, this restaurant was certainly not! Also concerned to note parmesan in a dish on the vegetarian menu......parmesan is NOT suitable for vegetarians and the waiter was unable to tell us whether it was actual parmesan on the dish or fake parmesan produced with no rennet. The waiter went off to ask the chef about this, but never returned with the information😫. The other annoying thing is that when my daughter asked for some tap water to drink she was told "there isn't any" which is untrue because they obviously have water in their taps and Swiss drinking water is perfectly good to drink...The waiter then brought out a re-fill bottle of guess what.. tap water.. for which we then got charged 8chf just because it was chilled.🤣. Honestly, if you didn't laugh you'd cry. Only place to hang helmets on a snowy day was above the table so they were dripping all over our food. Little kids meal (see photo) for 18 CHF was a joke and pint of beer (also see photo) had more head on it than beer in the glass😫. This restaurant is trying to be something it's not. There are better mountain restaurants in Zermatt.

Stumbled upon this spot on our way down the mountain and decided to get snacks and were blown away! Michelin star restaurant, great menu with shared plates, cool atmosphere - we sat in the greenhouse while it was snowing and it was just magic. Got a few drinks, fries, a few of the boards, and the croquettes which were my favorite item on the menu. Phenomenal place! Also loved the dishware which you can purchase.

It would have been nice to eat there, but we sat down (next to the bar and the kitchen) at 12.50 and at 2.10 they brought us some bread (dry) and croquettes (very good). The chef was kind and after 1.20 hours of waiting he offered us to take a dish for free which was on its way out.

I stopped in for lunch with my family. We ordered 1 dish each (1 first course and two second courses) and two starters (croquettes and bread and butter). We arrived at 12.40/50 and got up from the table at 2.10/20 having only eaten the starters. They brought us the croquettes (good) after about twenty minutes and from there nothing more. After a couple of reminders from us about waiting (to which the waiters responded with generic reassurances) they bring us the bread and butter. I underline how it was cold and therefore not particularly pleasant. After further waiting we asked for an explanation and were told that there had been a problem with the order which essentially had not reached the kitchen. We then decide to leave the place without eating. We propose to pay for what we ate (croquettes, bread and two waters) and we pay 27 Swiss francs. A delay is acceptable and normal, but what I find unacceptable and intolerable is how we were treated. No care to make us endure the wait and after our reminders only excuses and no proposals. Waiting almost 1 hour and a half without eating and without the waiters trying to fix it can't happen. Even worse is that it all happened on the Zermatt ski slopes where a daily ski pass costs 106 euros (around 13 euros per hour). Basically this visit cost us around 70 euros with little or no food. It's unfortunate because the place seemed to have the potential to be of a high standard, but evidently that's not the case...

It is not possible to review a place that after 1h30 of waiting with boots on your feet (because it is on the slopes) brought you nothing except some frozen bread with a curl of butter. Unacceptable that there is a Michelin smiley outside the door!

This place is a gem in the mountain! We came here at noon without a reservation. Luckily, they were able to seat us in exchange for us finishing up in 90 minutes. EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection and exceeded our expectations. We ordered beef cheeks, duck and rice, lamb stew. The ingredients are so fresh and they combined the flavors in a traditional way but with a creative twist. They also serve great coffee! According to them, they roast the beans in the house. Will definitely visit here again.

Stumbled upon the gem when skiing in zermatt for the day from Cervenia, book and eat here and you won’t regret it. Unusual and fusion combinations that just work. Chef is creative, has an eye for detail and interesting combinations that just work! Shame we could only visit for lunch one day, as the dinner menu and inside looked so cozy too!

Had lunch here today. Relaxing atmosphere and good views of the slopes. The food was incredibly tasty and definitely recommended. The rice and tofu dish was outstanding and so was the capuns, lamb and risotto. The only flaw is that the starter, the bread, came together with the main course. Service otherwise was good, but not outstanding. Would come again just for the food.

I was blown away by the quality of the food. Literally the best duck I’ve ever had! And every order was just so good. The ox cheek just melts in your mouth. Service was slow due to the huge amounts of people there skiing the mountains. Book in advance. Special thanks to Jade for taking care of us.

Gorgeous location and lovely staff BUT Chicken breast on children's menu was quite raw inside. Aubergine main extremely salty could not finish it.

Cozy restaurant with all kinds of delicacies. Friendly service. Large sun terrace and winter garden. Right on the ski slopes.

We were a group of 15 people enjoying the amazing food at Aroleid. Great service, and would love to come back again. Update January 2024: Service was very slow, and the staff seemed very busy.

Went on foot for lunch via the Furi ski lift. Lovely food, with good vegetarian/vegan options and staff were very friendly.

Food deserved the Michelin Bib, but the service was not up to par. They were incredibly slow, and got our order wrong. We arrived at 1:40 (our booking was at 2pm), but it took them 20 minutes to take our drink order. Even then, we had to flag them down. No one seemed to remember to come by to us. Then when our starter came out, it was the vegetarian platter and not the meat platter. They were really nice about it and fixed the problem, but then the rest of lunch just took forever to come. Aside from the really slow service, all the dishes were delicious! We got the octopus, the ox cheek, the cauliflower, and a lamb. For the price, I probably wouldn't come back to such slow service even though I loved the food.

We were outdoors warmed by the beautiful sun and the wood fire lit in the brazier near the tables. Very good

With 11 people announced the whole meal was perfection! The dishes are a taste creation and an immense pleasure for the palate! Desserts too! The service also perfect! 5 stars and more than recommended!

This place is great! So many delicious vegetarian options! I ate my cauliflower and mushroom fritters so far that I forgot to take pictures (they’re picture - worthy). We will come back!

Fantastic little place in Furri, with a great menu and incredibly attentive service. The gentleman working here couldn’t have been friendlier or more polite. We only had food from the “snack” menu, but they were on the generous side, very delicious and creatively served. Not your typical traditional mountain restaurant, but still combining the best of Swiss ingredients with world flavours. Also, drinks were heavenly. I missed iced matcha latte in this part of the world, and they had it, including with oat milk. Highly recommended! Wish we could have tried the cakes too, I bet they were fantastic.

Waiter came to the table. No greetings. Unfriendly. Are you reserved? Show other table. Once again a place that doesn't seem to rely on guests. Left immediately.

Completely satisfied and very nice service

After a long hike we received a very friendly welcome here. Within a very short time the refreshing panasche was on the table and the food didn't take long to arrive either, which was extremely tasty. The ambience, especially when the sun is shining on the terrace, is absolutely cozy and invites you to linger. The mountain views are amazing!! We felt very comfortable. The team knew how to recharge our energy before we continued our tour strengthened. Thanks for that👍🌞

Hot chocolate was cold. They put tap water on your table, even if you don’t ask for it - then charge you 9 Francs.

Aroleid Restaurant - The shop is not very big, small and cute. - Atmosphere inside this store - Good service staff - Each dish tastes delicious. Duck dish, rich flavor, soft meat Chicken meat is very soft and delicious. Coke, inside is ham. Eat with a delicious sauce. Very large bowl of onion soup Rich flavor - Delicious coffee - Chocolate dessert is very delicious and satisfying. - The price is at a standard that is worth the taste.

Of course it was full on the terrace today, but the wrong drink was delivered, I had to ask twice for the food after a long time, and my son's food was only given when I was finished. So there are no more points for service.

The view and the friendly service are positive. The Valais plate for €31 without bread is a disgrace! 3.- for the bread in addition! Very unfortunate.

Stopped here for a drink, Pilsner Urquel on draft, I was very happy! Nit the easiest place to get to (especially on a snowboard) but worth it! Staff are friendly and welcoming!

We had a lovely lunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They told us their portions were made to share (on the smaller side) but we think they were a good size for lunch. The food was delicious but quite pricey.

Cozy, intimate, and friendly! This place emphasizes the social part of eating, which we enjoyed. Plenty of food and it was all delicious. Some of the stuff I would never try on my own, like eggplant and celery puree, and it was still great! Make reservations, take the gondola up (we went all the way up to see the matterhorn then came back down) and walk 3 minutes there, then take a taxi (for about 80CH) back to town. The Michelin star is very well deserved!

We came here because of the many good reviews. Yes it's right. The coffee is great and the food is an experience. Surprising menu for a mountain restaurant. The atmosphere is original and cozy and the service is exceptional. However, the portions were a bit too small and the music was a bit too loud for our empty stomachs. But the young people certainly like that.

Food Paradise We had lunch at Aroleid and the food was outstanding. We shared different meals and it was awesome. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Great place to be.

Great stop at Furi, we love the originality of the menu. Magnificent Thai salad and decadent burger. Obviously, coffee is hard to find better!

2 dl tap water for 3.50.-! Hot chocolate is cold, this is my first and last time here. Brownie doesn't taste good either, and you can't even see the Matterhorn, which matches the rest!

Sorry for bad review. It's because of very long waiting time (after payment) for a beer (take away). That combined with relatively high price (9CHF) just doesn't make sense to me. Let me know if 2/5 is too low and should it be 3,4 /5 instead.

We were lucky to experience the Aroleid Focus pop-up restaurant and really had a great time. The menu was offering a good variety of food, with original dishes from meat to fish, pasta and salad, the ones we tried were all very good and the service was excellent. We are looking forward to visiting the actual Aroleid restaurant next year when restaurants are all open again!

In-house ceramic studio. Michelin Bib 2020/2021. We have eaten most dishes and consider them to be authentic with a nice twist. It’s a contemporary shared style eating but you can also find dishes which you can eat by yourself. Portions are smaller but food produce is of a high quality and fresh. Aroleid Restaurant is run and operated by The Zermatt Kollektiv who roast their own coffee. All coffee served is specialty and roasted for natural sweetness. I highly recommend this place

Due to corona we booked a private chef 6- course dinner at our chalet in Zermatt for a group of four friends (+baby). Marian -the chef himself- created an amazing dinner and explained all courses in a nice and passionate way We had a wonderful night and I can only recommend to go there or book a private dinner while in Zermatt.

The best place in Zermatt to eat! Simple as that! Home roasted coffee ☕.

The best part was the home made bread and the coffee. Service was really friendly but not very professional. Did not clean the table after removing dishes, did not pour the wine after the first glass. Wine glasses dirty. Food was so so, I do not understand the hype about this sharing concept....I will not go back.
