Auberge de la Gare in Montfaucon

We arrived this afternoon for dinner. Restaurant closed due to holidays. And “open” on their site😤

In a green setting surrounded by the beautiful fir trees of the Franches-Montagnes. The restaurant is quite dated but has a certain charm.

Went for a drink on 16.08 at 1:30 p.m. and when we arrived, we were amazed to see a sign indicating self-service on the terrace. I went to get the drinks and we sat down at a large wooden table where 2 dessert cups that had been dry for a long time were still lying on the table. I pushed them and until we left they stayed there. There were 11 people drinking, so there was no reason for stress for the staff. Two people who arrived with horses wanted to eat something with fries but the sommelier told them that they had just turned off the fryer!!! It was 1:35 p.m. We were staying in Delémont and in principle we were going to come and eat there in the evening but after all that we said to ourselves that we were going to eat in Delémont. We were still not going to do the service and maybe still the dishes. A word to the wise.

The term at discretion or at will does not seem to mean the same thing in the Jura as in the rest of the world! The food is honestly good, but it's sad to take the whirlwind! And to accuse the remarks of the service when requesting a supplement “that that is enough now” I did not set foot there again

On Sunday afternoon around half past four there is no ice cream because the chef has already left! No service, table not cleared, drinks had to be fetched inside because the staff didn't show themselves at the 2 tables outside. I find it worrying when the service staff can't even put together a coupe. And no, the staff wasn't under pressure because there were too many guests, there were 2 tables outside and maybe 2 guests inside. You can also actively avoid turnover.

Good auberge a bit out of the way but nicely located with connection to the railway as the name suggests. Friendly staff. The rooms are not up to date but serve their purpose. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our stay on Monday. We still liked it and will definitely come back.

Very friendly welcome. Very attentive staff. On the other hand, the value for money is expensive. We stayed 2 nights, no room cleaning. Only 1 bath towel per person. No bath towels for the face. Over 2 nights: limit. Tiny bathroom. Very narrow shower. Cordon bleu not to be recommended: cooked in a fryer so super fatty and heavy with almost burnt breadcrumbs 😞 On the other hand, we discovered an excellent craft beer. And the location is ideal for going for a bike ride. But we are forced to note that for 150chf per night and per person, given the establishment and the service, it is expensive.
