3 letters "WOW. What delicious food. It's a shame I didn't get to know this great place until late. The woman who cooks is very friendly and trustworthy. You can make special requests, so I've been able to try a lot. Yum, the insider tip is the fried aubergines !

You definitely have to remember the address: Kesselschmiede 27, Winterthur under the “Insider Tip” section. Here you can get the finest Egyptian food. The Badawi is neither a classic restaurant, nor street food, nor take-away - the Badawi is simply the Badawi. Special in every way. I order my eggplant curry under the roof, hand the lady the - nota bene - preheated plate, take cutlery and napkin, calculate the total of the order myself and put the money in the cash register waiting for me. I also take change myself and then help myself with a glass of hibiscus tea. Then I look for a table, in the sun, under the roof in the shade or in the small 'garden'. And this lunchtime it once again tasted, tasted, simply heavenly! Why this long story? There are places in this urban area that should actually remain secret, but you just have to show them or share them with others so that they can be happy and content, like myself.

An absolute insider tip (which is why there is no review here yet :) Great Indian/Egyptian food with a simple but workable concept. Hand over a plate, pay at the checkout yourself and then enjoy great food. Whether it's an "Alex", butter chicken (for those who like it juicy), a ferech or matar paneer, everything is fresh and prepared with a lot of passion. The fine hibiscus tea or a Turkish coffee round off the offer.
