Nice atmosphere, pleasant service, I really liked the homemade kefir. However, being a fan of "street food" bao (I eat it whenever there is a bao restaurant in the area) I must say that I was quite disappointed... My friend and I tasted the one with mushroom, pulled beef, pork, breaded chicken and shrimp (the worst of all) and found most lacked sauce, making them rather dry in the mouth. It wasn't bad overall, but they all lacked flavor and sauce compared to the baos we've tasted throughout our travels... Also the homemade cold tea had no taste, maybe it was the end of the jar and it may have been extended too much in the water... Otherwise the homemade mayonnaise and sweet potato fries were very good! The same goes for miso soup. There is potential!

Good morning This message is addressed to the director of the Bar Canteen Plainpalais restaurants. I am an occasional customer of your brand which I find nice and cozy. Overall, the majority of products I have tasted are good. However, I find it scandalous that you charge such indecent prices for a portion of sweet potatoes, that I paid 7.90 chf for a dozen fries inside, it is quite simply a scam. Quality has a price, imported products can cost a little more, I understand that but that's unacceptable, we are not cash cows! It seems more logical to me to offer 2 serving sizes of sweet potatoes, a small and a medium, it is not consistent to pay more for a portion than a mushroom bao, it's crazy! By charging such arbitrary prices, you embarrass your employees every time a customer complains about such a service. A word to the wise Best wishes

Delicious BAO, top service, everything was great! These “little breads” may not look like much but are worth the detour. I recommend anyone passing through the area to taste one or two.

As a Taiwanese person who is on business in Geneva, it was heartlifting to see a Taiwanese restaurant in Geneva. I visited this place with two of my friends, however, the service was incredibly rude, indecent and sassy. The guy and the girl were extremely pretentious and condescending. It's not what I expected from a Taiwanese restaurant. The interior was nice and the food was OK - at best. As a Taiwanese person I would definitely not recommend this place

I’m a cook and pastry chef, and I love their baos! Several times, for meat lovers as well as vegetarians or those who prefer shrimp. Plus there are soups. Baos maybe a little small, it's better to eat three but there are formulas so it's well thought out. I had soup, it could have had more flavor, but still good. The breaded chicken bao is amazing with the spicy mayonnaise. I recommend this place!

Really bad experience…both me and my friend had awful stomach pains after having Dinner here. Low quality of food, everything seemed overcooked and they put way too much sauce on the bao(to cover bad quality?). Definitely avoid…

- pleasant service - Good atmosphere, colorful, with typical Taiwanese utensils (such as spoons), which could be more authentic with some Taiwanese music (cosmospeople, eggplant egg, crowd lu, Mc hotdog etc.) or Chinese. I also had the impression of sometimes seeing mixes between simplified and traditional Chinese on the menus. - Dishes: very good bubble milk tea. Pork meat not completely like that of traditional baos, but still quite close to 五花肉. Very nice tofu bao. On the other hand, rather bland soup/noodles, and somewhat disappointing miso soup. Being one of the rare showcases in Switzerland of the richness and subtlety of Taiwanese cuisine, I hope that Bao Canteen will continue to improve over time and offer delicious Taiwanese dishes in French-speaking Switzerland!

Went a second time with a vegan friend and politely asked if the vegetarian noodles were vegan friendly. The waiter told us they use fish in vegetarian menus, even though it's not listed (and not vegetarian at all). Kinda deceived to discover secret unwelcome ingredients. By the way, food is good and the decorations great.

I loved this place, from the choice of Bao to the speed and quality of the service, I really recommend this restaurant, if you like revisited Asian cuisine you will not be disappointed, (The dragon menu is perfect)

The baos are delicious (I had the wild shrimp and beef ones). The sweet potato fries are perfectly crispy. Thanks to Dylan for the exceptional quality of his service (he was alone, what's more!), his wise advice and his kindness. I will come back without any hesitation

I had the shrimp noodle soup, it made me sick and I threw up. I don't think the shrimp were fresh. Additionally, I will say that the dish was quite bland.

Shrimp noodle soup had tasteless noodles, salty sauce and 5 small shrimp, small portion. 1 Mochi for 4chf is expensive, menu out of date.

We were received like kings even though it was a music festival and there were lots of people. Thanks again to Dylan for this magnificent Bubble Waffle Speculoos!! We will come back in numbers!!

Authentic 10/10, fancy 0/10, food 10+++++/10!!!! Miso soup was not just the best I have ever tasted, it was like I have never before tasted even a cheap, bland replica of miso. Unbelievable!!! Crevettes (shrimps) bao bun also excellent, pork belly one satisfactory. But that miso....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I went and took two baos, pork and beef and chicken wings. The beef bao was too salty, the pork bao was too tough and the chicken had no taste. I also had a bubble tea and you don't feel the taste of the juice and the pearls also have no taste or sugar.

Good service, fast. I thought the baos could have been more refined for a specialty restaurant. Braised beef too sweet, pork belly not so tender, breaded chicken that lacks taste/sauce... Two baos and a side are plenty enough.

I loved coming, everything was excellent from the baos to the ramen. Very disappointed with my last visit. Small portion for the ramen which arrived lukewarm. Poor filling and poor broth. As well as the noodles which are very industrial for their quality. I was looking forward to coming back but then really sad to see how it has become... ;( And WC not very clean...

Very very disappointed with this restaurant, already a really unpleasant smell inside, bao served like in a fast food restaurant on a plastic tray, 2 small shrimps in a bao for 7fr... & food not good. We all left disappointed. The waiter was not accommodating (asked to pay in cash rather than by card, we were told it was too late so not possible).

Quite small but tasty bao buns with a nice filling, fries okay, unfortunately there was no sauce with them from the start and the staff were very friendly in a nice, clean shop

Very bad experience. 20chf for 2 small Baos with a cold mini miso soup. Table service without napkin (impossible to eat Baos without napkin) and when you ask for a toothpick after the meal...negative response.... Place to avoid.

I'm not a big fan of the western styled boas, because they are halved, and these fancy fillings are usually for show than real authentic BAO fillings. A Real Chinese boa is covered and packed with meat filling inside, and they are msg marvels 😁 The boas here are ok, nothing mind blowing. However, i was very disappointed with their soya reman. The noodles were cold, it had no taste nor texture, the booth was bland. It was just a dark black soup with some pork belly. I wouldn't recommend their noodle if you are a picky reman eater. Overall, the boas are ok, but the noodles is a no go for me.

We must say it to ourselves; the Baos are just exceptional🥲🫶🏽 Big favorites, we happened to come across the door and we didn't regret entering. We will come back

Another result of gentrification! Bao Canteen may seem like another upcoming super trendy place, but be aware the food quality for a Taiwanese food spot isnt as on point as the decoration is. Unfortunately the food was quite bland, my gf and i ordered the noodles dishes ( pork and tofu) the broth on both was disappointing, the pork seem like it was just oven baked and nothing else, very small flavor profile and no spiciness. The tofu noodle dish felt like the tofu didnt even get boiled before added to the noodle dish. In addition, when we came in the restaurant we noticed that there was Taiwanese or at least asian staff…

It's really good and the bao is the first time I've eaten it and it was delicious

We spent a fantastic evening at Bao Canteen, we had a private space where we could do karaoke and we were served nice food and cocktails.

Wasn’t expecting this. It’s soooo good! Personally I think the bao with beef is the best, pork comes second and mushrooms the third. Bao with beef has a very strong flavor which quite close to the real Taiwanese foods. The pork too. I think the pork one if they made it pull pork style, it will be better. Mushroom is not that flavorful but it’s ok. The noodle is like a japanese miso soup ramen! Good taste with the fried tapioca, crunchy outside, soft inside, and with the soup, it’s just perfect. Make sure you eat the tapioca first because if it get soak until soft then it’s not that good, I think. Very recommended.

Do not order takeout. A shrimp bao with 2 small shrimps in a bun bathed in oil. I had to throw it in the trash because it was so inedible.

Good bao, very good bread, sometimes not enough filling for my taste! The sweet potato fries are good but lack a little salt! Finally, 17.90.- for a menu is completely reasonable!

Top address for a karaoke evening. Whether you are a microphone pro or not, you will get caught up in the game. Every time I go there, even the most shy people end up discovering hidden talents ;) The room is ideal for this type of evening, the servers are efficient and adorable, and the baos are delicious. I recommend 1000%

We ate a veggie Tapioca soup and a Shrimp soup and it was delicious! The sweet potato fries are very very good too. The staff are very friendly and friendly, their service excellent. We fell in love with their homemade hot sauce, excellent! Very good experience, we will come back :)

My boyfriend and I love this restaurant, we eat there regularly, the baos are excellent and the taro bubble tea too! The staff is very friendly too, but it's a shame that it changes so often.

Just amazing place!! I'm a fan, it's delicious, it brings together everything I love (bubble tea, mochis, bao, sweet potato fries) the taro and matcha bubble tea are really excellent. Student menu for €15 is a bargain!

The tastes of the bubble tees were really not good (tastes like rotten eggs). Very disappointing.

Pitiful dining experience, the service was good but their overpriced bubble tea was disgusting. The taste seemed rotten, the bubbles were gelatinous, in my opinion there was a conservation problem. I don’t recommend it!

Food bathed in oil, so fried that everything is dry. The sauces are kept in the sun. I do not recommend this place which is also very expensive.

They say their bubble tea was born in Taiwan but this was soooo bad…. Didn’t taste like any of the bubble teas you can have in Asia… it’s basically lots of milk with a very sweet swiss syrup haha… noooo please nooooo had to throw it out

I ordered a Tiger menu with the pork belly and the beef baos, both where quiet good. Sweet potato fries were good also and the menu is priced well. The place is nice and cozy with convenient opening hours.

Were very disappointed... For us the food wasn't authentic at all and the tapioca pearls in the milk tea were rock hard. The bao tasted very bland and the miso soup was salty and tasted old. My friends only liked their sweet potato fries and EVERYTHING else was very disappointing, including the service...

Delicious bao with nice atmosphere and friendly owner to chat to. The owner has done quite a bit of research in Taiwan and has come up with his own twist and style. Recommend!

Very bad culinary and taste experience with the vegetable noodle soup, which I strongly advise against. The noodles were bland and still half clumped together, the broth really wasn't very good (and I'm not a picky eater), and the toppings were almost insulting: tofu just cut into cubes, not at all marinated or cooked in any way, and what's more is still cold inside (I almost went and asked for a new plate or a refund), and the vegetables added on top were not cooked, just placed on top raw as such what, like leek cut thin, therefore fibrous and difficult to chew. And what's more, it was expensive.

Taiwanese food is delicious, but the drink pearl milk tea is a little hard to chew.

Very bad !!! Saterday night chilling on the sofà decided too place order at Bao Canteen. Because if u see those website pictures u think u will recive something tastefull. But that was not the case cold food too salta beef bao cold friet. First and last time ah en 2 little bao’s one little portion of friet for 30 cf what a waiste of money !
