Thank you to Manuela and Jürgen for your incredible hospitality, food, and advice. We were a large group and they were extremely accommodating to all. The food was unbelievable! The Sachertorte and Schnitzel will live in my memory forever. We unfortunately had to leave in a rush due to road closure concerns, so never got to thank you properly for your flexibility and generosity as hosts. We will definitely be back and recommend this place very highly. To top off an amazing stay, the location is perfect for any outdoor activities and the village is undeniably charming. Highly recommend. edit: I would also like to add that the hosts were well-informed about the local conditions and kept us up to-date. They truly looked out for us - our group and other groups we saw on the mountains may have had unpleasant experiences had they not been so informed. We were incredibly lucky to have such attentive hosts.

The Bärgkristall is a very special place that is run with a lot of love. A super cozy restaurant with exceptionally good cuisine. We prepared a series in the village and Jürgen and Manuela cooked for us every lunchtime. The two of them are so warm and helpful, we felt really comfortable and I've never eaten so well for so long. I can recommend it to everyone!!

Visited for 2 nights. Very nice and quiet location. The host couple as well as the service and conditions were also highly recommended. Price performance was right for us. Sustainability and regionality are very important. Anyone who wants to book a quiet weekend will certainly not be disappointed. Free parking card with approval is available at check-in👍

Located at the end of a small valley in a picturesque landscape where the marmot whistles every day. An ambience like something out of a Swiss local film. Traditional style accommodation but with all amenities. Well maintained and just a place to feel good. The dishes come from a good home-style kitchen, but are prepared with top quality and passion. Anyone who would like to be pampered away from the hectic mass tourism is in good hands at Bärgkristall with the two warm-hearted innkeepers Manuela and Jürgen Kernegger.

A fantastic place. Best Kaiserschmarrn, great cuisine, warm hosts. The rooms are also excellent: modern and rustic, great sleep quality, very quiet location. The restaurant is located high up on the mountain. You could say a secret place. A picturesque village with idyllic Swiss wooden houses. Ideal place for mountain tours. There are also many different stones to be found here (mineral area). The excursion destination in the immediate vicinity is the Aletsch Glacier (accessible by cable car).

Not nearly as good as the previous tenants. Table sticky, two forks with stains. Kolera (Valais specialty) is missing from the menu. Ordered risotto twice and a salad for two. The salad didn't come but was on the bill at the end. They didn't notice and needed to be made aware of it. When leaving the restaurant, the innkeeper sat at a guest table and fought with the dog (does he wash his hands before the next cooking session)?

Fantastic gem in the middle of the small village of Imfeld. Lovingly renovated, homely rooms, very comfortable. In winter the best starting point for ski tours and snowshoe hikes, in summer a wonderful hiking and biking area. Great cuisine with ingredients from our own garden and local top wines!

After a hike in Binntal at the end of July 2020, I wanted to stop off at Bärgkristall. Unfortunately the sky was overcast and there were occasional small showers. There was only one umbrella for the four or five tables outside, and of course this table was occupied! Apparently people at Bärgkristall don't understand why people want to sit outside, especially during Corona times, to see their constantly praised "most beautiful village center", which is impossible without an umbrella when it rains. I couldn't test the quality of the food, but a restaurant that makes a visit impossible because of such banal omissions can't expect more than 2 stars for the location. PS: in case you didn't know: umbrellas also protect against too much sun and were standard at other restaurants in the Binntal! PS: The excuses in the hosts' answer show how Switzerland is increasingly becoming a service desert! Of course, when there are strong winds, everyone takes their umbrellas inside, and when there is a strong thunderstorm, no one will want to sit outside! No, it was a partly sunny day with small showers in between, hardly any wind! In a 50 meter linear distance in Imfeld, as in Binn on the bridge, all tables were provided with umbrellas! (Of course, umbrellas alone don't make a good pub...see my review of the "Imfeld") Sorry if umbrellas break you should pay attention to their quality if the guests' well-being is so important to them. Hopefully no chair will break in the future, then everyone will have to eat standing up for safety reasons... ;-)))) The fact that their interior was converted into an “anti-corona bunker” is an honor to them - neither in my guesthouse nor elsewhere in Valais did anyone seem to have “heard anything” about Corona - to put it somewhat exaggeratedly - but I just wanted to dine outside anyway! Pps: If you have two stars with "front runner" it says a lot about this holiday in Switzerland, which is becoming more and more degenerate and which I will avoid (except Ticino) in the future. Other mothers have more beautiful daughters, so I get twice the service for half the money (see e.g. "Frommer Alm")
