Becanto Kaffee & Bar in Bern

Ordered a croissant with bacon and scrambled eggs and chips. The croissant was very small, two strips of bacon and very little scrambled eggs (one egg maximum) - everything was cold and served on a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. The chip portion was huge. I would have liked it to be the other way around since it's about brunch. The menu said "with lettuce and tomatoes" - it had exactly one leaf of lettuce and one slice of tomato. For CHF 22.-- absolutely excessive, unfortunately. We won't be coming back and can't recommend it.

Certain menus can be ordered with salad or, for an additional charge of 5CHF, with “nature chips”. I didn't think much of it, because I was hungry, I ordered Nature Chips... I don't know what I expected, but given the self-declaration of being a popular restaurant, I thought it was a homemade mix between fries and chips, CERTAINLY NOT normal nature chips, ESPECIALLY at this price. Well, I thought wrong. For an additional charge of 5CHF I receive a plate filled with nature chips. This is simply embarrassing. Never again.

Very hip place - you can think of it what you want. The pancakes, advertised as "fluffy", were very compact and only lukewarm at the table, which I found to be a shame. No vegan pastries in the display case - another wasted opportunity. The "toilet for everyone" is super inclusive, it's just stupid that it actually only has a single toilet for the fully occupied restaurant, without a separate sink to quickly wash your hands. And the Becanto almost always seems to be fully occupied, without a reservation it is an illusion to want to get a seat.

We went to Becanto for brunch on Tuesday. Menu is diverse. Unfortunately, service wasn't that attentive, we ordered a toast with vegan salmon and normal salmon came, and I ordered a chai latte and a cappucino came. The bill still came with chai and veg. Salmon charged. Even if it was the first day at work, it would be beneficial to write it down 😊 The food was delicious. We'll definitely come back.

Chai is expensive and not that great

This brunch place was recommended to us. The location looks cool and we received a friendly welcome. To my surprise, there were no more pancakes at 12:15 p.m., even though they make up almost a quarter of the entire menu (brunch available until 2:00 p.m.). It was then made again and I got my pancakes, which were very good. The service is very friendly, but they forgot a lot of things and I had to ask until everything arrived correctly at the table. Although the restaurant was not full, there was sometimes no service staff in sight for several minutes. They definitely need to be more careful. Not a top experience, but we would give the place another chance.

The young gentleman with the curls was extremely polite and very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to help us choose. From start to finish we were treated with kindness and attention, making the stay a great experience. We'd love to come back soon, we're looking forward to it!

The café is hopelessly overwhelmed when it is half full. Seriously: they turned us away because the kitchen was overwhelmed. A staff disaster. The dishes are piled up behind the cash register. The walking speed is slow motion. We have never met such an amateur group in the catering industry anywhere in the world. You can feel Swiss quality here at ZERO. The message to the staff: Shame on you. To the owner: get yourself going.

Despite reservations, we waited a good quarter of an hour for the menu and another fifteen minutes for a drink. The glasses were dusty and after waiting an hour and inquiring about the food, we were told that we would have to be patient for a while. We canceled the meal and left. In our opinion the prices for the food and service are definitely too high. We paid just under CHF 50 for three drinks, coffee and a portion of wedges. Not recommendable. We came for Brunch on Sunday, but most of the items that we wanted to order were unavailable. We were there on our wedding day. I discovered it simply by chance and it has become one of my absolute favorite places. We come from the Biel region, otherwise I would probably already be a regular there. The bistro is simply very cozy and lovingly furnished. Has a friendly and great staff. A great cook/baker as the beunch and cake were to die for. AND it's really family friendly. With a mini play area and lots of mommies with babies, I felt very comfortable that morning. We had so much fun that we came back with friends a day later because we couldn't stop raving about it. So I'm already looking forward to the next time. I was happy to take the stamp card 😊🌻

No joke, we had to wait about 50-60 minutes for our actually quite simple order (all the guests had to wait that long). The service was very friendly, explained to us that the kitchen was quite small and that there was only one cook there (on a Saturday). When the order finally came, the pancakes were rock hard and cold inside. We were told that they probably hadn't been defrosted properly 😅 So the pancakes weren't fresh. We did receive a new portion (after another long wait). In my opinion, you should get a little more on the house than 1 drink (at least we should both have been offered one). Unfortunately, a disappointing performance for a café known for brunch.
