Berggasthof Alte Post in Schiers

We visited Gerti and Markus, you are always given a very warm welcome in a very familiar atmosphere. The food is very delicious, even the ice cream is homemade, eating at the post office is highly recommended. We also enjoyed the amazing view of the beautiful mountains on the balcony and the sunset in January. We'll be back, thank you for the lovely trip.

Today we were at the Alte Post with our "clan": we were warmly welcomed by Gerti and Markus and were looked after wonderfully.

This is the most magical place. To get there, you take a road with so many twists and turns that it takes your breath away. Finally, you arrive at the old post office that has been lovingly renovated into a quaint inn with all the amenities. As you take in the beautiful view you know that the drive was worth it. You will be greeted by Gerti or Markus and welcomed with open arms. You can sit outside on the balcony and enjoy a refreshing drink or something to warm you. The food is all housemade with loving care and this comes through in every bite. If you are lucky enough to have a reservation for the night you will find your room elegant and comfortable. With everything you need for a blissful night’s sleep. The morning meal is a delicious Swiss breakfast with muesli, bread, meats and strong coffee. Including Gerti’s homemade jam and local honey. This was my first trip to Switzerland from Canada and definitely one of the highlights of our nearly 4 weeks here. It is one of the places I MUST visit again on our next trip here.

Currently there is a red cabbage soup with chestnuts... simply a dream. There is also wonderful homemade pepper from local game

The innkeeper takes time for the guests. Very friendly and accommodating. The food is top quality. Only local ingredients. Cooked with a lot of love. The whole atmosphere, very cozy I can really only recommend it! We will eat out more often in the future.

Simply great here! Very good food (with local specialties such as Capuns or Schuderser Wurst) and a wonderful cool wine. Insider tip: rosemary ice cream. Extremely attentive and friendly service. Great view. The place can only be reached via a very adventurous, sometimes very steep little road!
