Boulangerie - Tea-Room - Gentiana in Orsières

We came twice this week and the welcome and service were perfect, especially since I had two hungry and impatient young children. We ate very well and had a pleasant time each time. The desserts are to die for!

I don't know what the bread they sell is like, but the food in the tea room is to be feared. Most likely ready-made lasagne, the Soupe Gourmand a salt-free vegetable porridge, the so-called house bread stale. Unfortunately, it's hard to get used to.

Croissants and milk bread not fresh. When we talk about it, the elderly person says it's expenses, I've been working for 50 years, you don't know anything about it. For us it's fresh, not frozen. She is hateful. We will not return there and very expensive.

Great old fashioned bakery, we bought 1kg bread here for around 6 Swiss frank. Seems like a fair price for the region. And the bread was really crunchy and very tasty. I would totally recommend this place, a really friendly older lady served us, what a good place!

I hated this bakery. We had a frozen cake that looked very good but, in fact, was disgusting we had to throw it away. The bread was stale and so were the croissants. DO NOT RECOMMEND

We stayed here when hiking the tour du mont blanc. We were going to camp with our tent at champex lac, however the weather was horrible that night so we started looking for a sleeping arrangement very last minute... We were welcomed with open arms at Gentiana! The hostess even brought us some cake when we arrived. She really made our night after we were bummed out by the bad weather. Everything was very clean, a comfy sitting area, great beds, a nice bathroom. We had a great night which gave us new found energy for the rest of our hiking trip. Definitely would recommend!

Good all you can eat breakfast for hikers

I stayed here overnight and the experience was not 5* but 6*. I felt very special, the lady who’s running the business is superkind. I tried the cake as well and it was 🤤 Totally recommend!!

Had a delicious sandwich and fruit tart here today. Prices are better than anything else is town and their seating area is very nice. Service staff was very kind

If you pass through Champex-Lac, then don’t hesitate to come and enjoy a “Mont-Blanc” hot chocolate. A true delight ! And if you live in a resort, then take note of the breakfast brunch, every day, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for CHF. 12.--. The welcome is warm, in a typical and endearing setting. At the adjacent bakery, succulent delicacies, without forgetting Valais bread. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside..... Thanks to the Lovey family for their welcome and see you soon!

A hearty and complete breakfast with quality products (jam, cheese, cold meats… the bread is excellent) for 12 francs. A great welcome, great service, and smiles… Congratulations to you !!

When I went outside after buying some bread, the bakery lady handed me some fruit lined up outside the store. I was really happy because it was during TMB. merci!

The goods were attractive, but not beautifully presented. The older saleswoman was rather rude and didn't like my accent. Since I also come from this industry, I was very surprised.

The only vegetarian pie option (they use animal gelatin) was the blueberry pie and was unfortunately tasteless. The pain au lait was harder than regular bread, probably from the day before.

What would we do without the Champex-Lac bakery!!

The quality and choice of baguette and baked products is fairly poor. We now go to the supermarket a few doors down and the baguette is far superior (which shouldn’t be the case!)

Service is very friendly. Sandwiches and almond croissants are a bit dry, even in the early morning. The cappuccino is watery and covered with chocolate, nothing to do with real cappuccino.

Very nice place, very kind staff, you can have a hot chocolate and buy bread or artisanal sweets and even jams... They also make Sandwicks for €4, €4.50. Prices in CHF can be made the same in euros. Costs are slightly lower than nearby places...

On the one hand, I currently work here, the pastries and their breads are excellent as is the pastry. It’s also a family business and everyone knows each other. There is also a nice view of the mountain.
