Delicious dishes prepared with regional products, fast service, very pleasant staff, a magnificent setting with a beautiful atmosphere and excellent value for money. I highly recommend this restaurant; no complaints. I understand why you have to book in advance ;)

Good food and friendly atmosphere but it's very expensive and the staff is bad. We were a group of 6 with an extremely expensive bill and they didn't even offer us a digestive... too bad.

Mega noisy and crowded but still good

We often come with my partner to eat tartare and profiterole with a good bottle. We have a good time every time. I recommend this place.

An incredible terrace in summer! A pleasant setting in Lausanne

A restaurant with friends! To begin with, the menu took 15 minutes to arrive, the waiters forgot the carafe of water I had to intercept them at least twice! It took us 1 hour to see the color of the entrance! Which really wasn't to our taste. The restaurant looks super chic and classy yet not even the servers were dressed in a chic way! 1h30 later we finally eat, none of us liked the dishes, apart from the beef fillet which was good but that's it... On the other hand, the servers were nice but they spend too much time chatting among themselves and don't really pay attention to the customers. Each time they forgot something at our table, salt, service, dessert menu which took 10 minutes to arrive too... I don't recommend this restaurant, to end the evening we wanted to have a last drink in a bar but unfortunately it was too late... We arrived at 9:15 p.m. and left at 11:30 p.m.! In addition the prices are high for what it was and there is not much choice on the menu.

Wonderful view, it is better to book a table in advance. There is a breakfast menu - but this is essentially not breakfast - buns and coffee, so you need to come for lunch (as we understand, the menu is different on weekdays and on weekends - you need to check) we were there on weekdays and it was very tasty - oysters, papanya, snails, rooster in wine, delicious bread!

Lunch Delicious perch fillets with a small, crunchy salad seasoned just as it should be must ! Ice cream dessert and small chocolate tart. Despite a crowd on big days, impeccable and friendly service. We had a pleasant time.

My favorite place for lunch or a meal accompanied by a drink in the evening in Lausanne. I go there very often and it's a great time every time. Splendid setting and view. Very gourmet and local seasonal menu, delicious dishes. I love their selection of local drinks (soda, cocktail and others). Always a good atmosphere. THANKS !

Excellent food at reasonable prices. The portions are normal to large and the staff is polite and smiling ready to serve us. For those who don't eat meat, mushrooms are an excellent choice!

We had to wait around 30 minutes for a waiter to even vome to the table. After prdering 6 hot chocolates we waited another +20 minutes only to get some specialty chocolate that only tasted like cinnamon and milk. Afterwards we got to ask 6 times for the tab, overpriced and underwhelming experience. Pretty place though.

In the middle of the 8 p.m. rush, it's rare to be so kindly welcomed for a simple drink.

The food and the setting, the view are wonderful. But the service is horrible. We waited for one hour for deserts and were told off by the waitress, whom even went to complain to her boss IN FRONT OF US about us when we asked where the desert were after 40minutes …. We were told by someone we could seat outside at the entrance for a drink before the meal and as soon as we seat a waiter comes in and tells us very rudely to leave the table. We felt like half of our interactions with the staff were very impolite! Even if to be fair one of the waiter was extremely kind.

Avoid, the setting is magnificent, however the cuisine really leaves something to be desired, both in terms of quantity, quality and prices used. Despite having a starter and a main course each, we finished the meal feeling really hungry. The ingredients are quality, but the cuisine is really not extraordinary and in no way justifies the prices used. Too bad, another brasserie which has lost its identity and which claims to be gastronomic.

Excellent Swiss restaurant on the lookout

Disrespectful staff. Lack of professionalism. We ended up being rushed from the standard table to the corner to high chairs (with a toddler) only because we wanted dessert drinks and tapas at 11.20am on weekend while the staff ate lunch at the comfortable table. While we were eating many tables including the one we left were still empty. We stayed only because the child needed a meal.

Waiting 30 minutes just to have the menu, and the waiter who was supposed to be the one taking care of our table, was clearly avoiding us, and serving people who where arriving after us, the place was not full and was not even with a lot of people.

Never ever go back again!!! Bad service and no transparency in table arrangement. I booked the table for 3 and asked for outside table. I received the confirmation and notification that it was crowded and it might be difficult to have a table outside, first come first served. I totally agreed. When we arrived, there are still table for 3 (with reserve), they still tried to put us inside with the extra table. 30mins after when we still tried to wait and asked for outside table, the group of 3 arrived, and just went directly to that three table, even without noticing at the front desk. Oh…they are friend of one of the waitress there. What is the hell is that? It was my partner birthday, we went with his mum who came along way from Austria. But it ended up really bad with no drinks, no foods, and the disappointment.

Very beautiful and pleasant restaurant with very careful decoration. If you order a coke you will receive a Swiss coke, not the original :) The dishes are high priced, but within what prices are in Swiss restaurants. They are individual dishes but we ordered one of each so we could try them out.

We were a group of 13 people (10 adults and 3 (small) children and we were all thrilled by the quality of the food, the ambience and the staff. We can highly recommend the restaurant.

Poor quality of terrace service, we waited 1 hour before being greeted by a waitress, several service errors, broken glasses, wrong order, negative attitude towards comments... Unprofessional considering the price. Disappointing.

Pitiful and laughable service! The incompetence and arrogance of the “waiters” and “waitresses” are worthy of tragicomic sketches and are the high prices more justified by the pseudo-“spectacle” than by the food? What a pity ! Terrace with a view and customers who deserve better: so many waiters stirring the air, squirming and fidgeting uselessly and in the end obtaining such a mediocre and slow result... Well, we had a good laugh and the real treat is more in the ridiculousness of the service than in the flavors of the plate! ;))

I have been coming to this establishment for 2 years and have never been upset. But, today, I was very surprised when I returned my drink because there was way too much alcohol compared to usual (I have the same drink every time, and the taste itself was different - so they had the wrong alcohol and dosage). So by returning my cocktail to the very nice waitress I was expecting to see my drink changed... it costing almost 20 francs... What was my surprise when the bartender, very pretentious and visibly having a hostile behavior towards my simple remark, seemed to have taken my dismissal personally and completely refused to accept his fault while indirectly accusing me of lying. This is certainly a ridiculous story, but I think that is not the way to talk to people when you work in the service... I try not to take this humiliating attitude for myself, but I have was hurt by his tone, which despite the warmth and the number of customers is not justified. I hope this bartender will have the opportunity to do a little training in anger management and misogyny….

Good value for money, beautiful terrace overlooking the lake and garden. I paid 32 for a green tea, vegetarian curry and tip.

A place to absolutely discover! The view, as well as the service and food, are of excellent quality!

Without interest, move on. Magnificent place, bland dishes, reheated cuisine. Perch fillet at 50.- per plate, optimal food cost for minimal flavors. Minimalist eco-bobo Lausanne scam, no table set for a menu at such prices, it's a lack of respect for the customer. Cutlery thrown in an email pot, and paper napkins like in a trucker's restaurant (mostly excellent but at an infinitely more modest price). This kind of setup passes for a dish of the day but not for an à la carte dinner. Well, if it was excellent, maybe it's tolerable but hey...really it was mediocre. Ah, final blow. The bottle of homemade sparkling water for 8.-. At these prices, you will be offered truly good cuisine, elegantly presented on a table set elsewhere in Lausanne. Now, if cheap canteen style at 15 out of 20 GaultetMillaut prices tempts you, Be Their Guest. For me, it will never be again.

Great food, great service! This restaurant is not only suited for business lunches and dinners, but also for couples and groups of friends. They have an amazing terrace overlooking the lake. They are also gluten-free friendly! I look forward to returning!

I came to eat with a friend for the first time at 1:15 p.m. on the terrace because I had many comments, particularly from former employees, about the quality of the food and the service, but I might as well tell you that the service was more than pitiful and the word is weak. The waiter in green shorts took 20 minutes to take our order, we asked him for information about the dishes which was apparently too much because he blew it off with no explanation. We got the starters first before even getting the drinks. When cashing out I had no questions regarding the meal if everything went well leaving a tip in addition it would be a question of saying thank you at least which is the basis of politeness. Being in the business, I was surprised to see customer service like that. However, the quality of the food and the presentation of the plates was excellent, there is nothing to complain about there.

A very beautiful terrace, refined AND copious cuisine, impeccable service. Numerous and true (= balanced) vegetarian dishes make it possible to include all diets, and demonstrate a respect for vegetarians which may certainly seem obvious, but which does not exist in France (which nevertheless claims a long culinary tradition ...) where real vegetarian dishes are rare. The brasserie is located in the same building as the cinema library: you can combine the two to have both the pleasures of the palate and those of the mind.

We made a reservation for 13.30 for lunch yesterday. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. It took ages for the servers to take our drinks and food order. Drinks came with the starters. Because they took so long to take our order and bring our starters and drinks, the server said the kitchen was closing and brought out our mains while we were all still eating our starters. I have never experienced this in a restaurant and felt it was incredibly bad service. Just because the servers ignored us and didn’t take our order in a timely fashion does not mean that the paying guests should have to be compromised. By the time I got to eating the main, it was cold. This was really disappointing. Furthermore, the fries with my main were cold, overcooked and hard (I was unable to eat them), and when we asked the servers for something (eg. bread or sauces) we would need to ask multiple servers as they seemed unable to follow through with the request. I usually really like brasserie montbenon. This was the first time I went for lunch and even though the terrace is beautiful, the service needs to improve. Or at least extend your kitchen hours for lunch to accommodate your poorly trained servers.

Magnificent address! Succulent cuisine and attentive, professional service! The best veal rice I have eaten! A superb wine list, choice and lovely vintages offered at attractive prices. And a beautiful presentation on the plate was great, thank you to the whole team!!

The bread served with the tapas was hard

I am guessing the high (overpriced?) pricing is due to the fantastic view on the terrace and the fact the clientele seems to be mostly made up of business people. I had the Scottish salmon tartare with mango, ginger and lime which was nice. So was the strawberry tartelette. The service was quite decent too. As for the waiters, I think people have to remember French or French speaking staff tend to be straight to the point, it doesn't mean they are rude on purpose. I do wish they had better selection of non alcoholic drinks that were not lemon based. The bread lacked freshness. The toilet was a bit small.

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, which was once my favorite in Lausanne and which I had been recommending to everyone for years. I had heard from friends that the quality had dropped a lot, and unfortunately I saw it myself. Despite the idyllic setting, my last visit was a disaster from start to finish. First of all, the service poses a big organizational and management problem. The dishes were served to us even before our appetizer, and it was obvious that they had been reheated and were not fresh. Not to mention there was hair in my dish. We had a reservation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., but at 8 p.m., the waiter asked us to change tables because the customers reserved for the second service had arrived early! We had just finished our dish. I have never seen such a situation! And to make matters worse, the table next to us had the same comment. As an apologetic gesture, the manager offered drinks, but she blamed her new server for the mistake. This indicates a clear lack of management and respect towards its staff. Unfortunately, I do not plan to return to this restaurant in the future.

Was in Lausanne for a meeting and promised the most beautiful terrace of the city. Was not disappointed - of course the weather also played it's part. The menu had a wide range of local wines wnd dishes, the food was excellent (ate too much, totally worth it). Staff was very nice and helpful, despite my terrible French.

The Black Angus wasn’t real one. It was worse than my shoe sole. The fries were not crispy and too deep fried in oil. The bread was from many days and so bad. Literally I don’t know how this place has such good rating. Would never go again.

Everything was great at the Brasserie de Montbenon. On the other hand, the price of parking is prohibitive, we understood why there were so few cars inside.

Deafening hubbub, stifling heat, you are indeed on the mezzanine of the BM on a cool May evening (the 2 Dyson fans seemed very powerless). Table for 10 place settings when there were only 6 of us (although we had reserved several days ago): too large to agree. So we fled without having dessert despite the undeniable quality of the contents of the plates.

Nice restaurant but a little bit overpriced for the quality of the food. We had the big steak (for 2 persons). It was good, but not perfect. For this price (65.- per person) it should be better. The starter, salmon tatar was quite good and a generous portion. The creme brûlée at the end was very good. The wine, an Amarone for 95.- Swiss Franc was not worth the money. Either the quality must be better or the price lower.

The servers are not welcoming and don't really want to work. Otherwise our dishes were excellent!

This is a wonderful space. I haven’t been here for food since before the pandemic as the noise would get unbearable from the interior acoustics, and I thought the food was not great for the asking price. We came for a dinner of 5 and i was very positively surprised. While I think the menu is too large - it makes a bad impression- the waitress gave us as a group very good recommendations, and the dishes were really great. I had the lake fish on the bed of risotto with asparagus. I appreciated that the butter was on the side as I’m lactose intolerant. I followed it with meringue with double cream, which was tasty enough. I’d like a larger variety of non alcoholic ‘homemade’ drinks, with some that are not all lemon based. The prices are not low here but compared to other places in Lausanne that have been recently going down in quality this is a safe choice.

We ordered chicken cordon bleu and steak. Personally, I think steak tastes better than chicken. Medium rare can give you a little bit of the taste of raw meat. It’s my favorite level of doneness. It’s quite delicious when paired with sauce. The roasted vegetables as a side meal are delicious and nutritionally balanced. The bartending is also very delicious. Since the entire restaurant can accommodate quite a few people, it is often necessary to speak louder to be heard. It seems to be a very popular restaurant, especially in summer. I heard that the outdoor dining area has a good view, so it is best to make a reservation before coming to the restaurant. Although it is very delicious, the overall price is a bit expensive and may be more suitable for celebrating important festivals.

Safe value in Lausanne. Grandiose setting in the former Lausanne casino with a view of the gardens and the lake. Classic French/Swiss cuisine menu with some vegan and vegetarian options. All dishes can be served in small or large portions. The veggie dishes aren't worth the trip per se but it's a nice place for a dinner and carnivores enjoy the dishes :)

If you want to spend quality time, enjoy a good atmosphere and eat a quality meal, then the Montbenon brasserie is the ideal place

Trendy place with great classical food! Place is a bit too nosy but we were upstairs in a corner so we were not too bothered by it.

I ate Sunday lunch in this superb brasserie. The place is very beautiful and well located. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu is very beautiful and very complete, plus there are options for vegetarians. Everything looks delicious so I had a hard time choosing. I finally decided to take "the bone marrow - fleur de sel - Sarawak pepper" as a starter and for the main course I chose the "scallops a la plancha - white butter with Dézaley". I absolutely did not regret my choice because it was delicious and very filling. To finish, I had a jasmine green tea. The price seems completely reasonable to me for the quality of the service and the food. I will return there with great pleasure.
