A beautiful setting in the picturesque town of Solothurn. Welcoming, as epitomised by proprietor Dani, and complimented by wonderful staff. Brasserie Fédérale is well worth a visit for a refreshing libation and excellent fare... you won't be disappointed.

I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful experience we had at the Brasserie Fédérale this weekend past. As a large choral group visiting from Ireland, we were treated to great food, exceptional service and a wonderful atmosphere. Dani and his team were well able to take care of nearly 50 of us all landing at the same time, with no mishaps. The mixed salad starter was very tasty; the roast pork with mushroom cream sauce and Swiss noodles was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the vanilla crème caramel was perfect. Thanks Dani, Marius, Keiti, Anna, Nicoletta and the rest of the team..! We’re looking forward to visiting Solothurn and the Brasserie Fédérale again sometime in the future..! 😊

We visited this restaurant a few times over a recent trip to solothorn! The staff are quite amazing! Led by manager Dany , katie and her team were unbelievable accommodating. Did not expect to get such warmth and genuine care! The food is also fab. Brian

Simple but very tasty cuisine, a little expensive, but we are in Switzerland ;). On the other hand, the billing for cutlery at 2.5 chf per person is a bit excessive.

If you really want to be noble, you should also act noble. We were in the restaurant today and wanted to eat well. Small portions at high prices plus a charge for cover. Carelessly designed plates; overcooked vegetables in micro portions. Too few service staff and therefore stressed, unfriendly service. Customer requests were not made possible and refused without justification. Men's toilet clogged, no soap or paper towels. It wasn't our first time in this restaurant, but it would certainly be our last. Have a good meal.

A beautiful place on the first floor - reserve! Tea and coffee are served with small croissants and orange juice.

It's a more upscale restaurant. Therefore the prices are accordingly. The service and food is good.

Very tasty vegetarian dishes, designed in an old school style. A waitress constantly switches from German to English and vice versa even though all of us spoke German. Caused a bit of confusion. Definitely above average in terms of price

We (2 people) ate in the brasserie for the first time today. The meal was okay. The surprise came with the bill. In addition to the cost of the food and drinks, an additional charge of CHF 2.50 per person was added, a total of CHF 5. When asked, the waitress said this sum was for the napkin, cutlery and bread and butter. It should be noted that we received cutlery and napkins, but not bread and butter. Yes, what can I say: not again. There are enough restaurants where cutlery and napkins are included. I would have liked to pay for bread and butter, but it wasn't served. D. Trochim

Unfortunately our entrecôtes were super tough, the meat was just not good. We got 2 rounds but it was just not edible... The staff tried the meat and confirmed that the meat was not good. A pity. When we wanted to order something else, the kitchen was closed in the meantime, special, right??? But the service staff was super nice. Will I eat there again? Rather not...

Never again. The waitress was very rude to me and my mum just because we sit to a table that was supposed to be for eating and we only wanted to have drinks. We wouldn't have any problem to follow their policy and change the table no need to be rude. We have to wait long standing inside like idiots for paying. The manager was by the coffee machine cursing.

It is much too expensive for what it is and the food is very questionable. Me and my wife are often eating outside and have knowledge about food: Everything we ordered was precooked, the meat cold, dry and the kartoffelstock obviously made from poulver and was more like a potatopulver - soup, disgusting and one of the worst we have ever eaten. The service was nice and location is good thats the only positiv thing to say about that place

Prices far too high for what is on offer. Food was OK, except the vanilla sauce was inedible and the powder was probably not used correctly (I'm an EFZ chef, I think I can judge that). The companion then had a stomach ache; she caught something that was probably not edible. Toilets are a disaster. Service was attentive and friendly.

We were 4 adults with 2 small children. We wanted to refresh ourselves with a few drinks and leave. After about 30 minutes we wanted to get up and one of the children started crying. The service employee's reaction in front of all the guests was derogatory and insulting. If you decide to work in service, you should know how to deal with adults and small children. If not, please change jobs. Conclusion: poor service and unfriendly.

Pretty terrace on a nice square in the heart of the city. It was hot, we ordered Caesar salads and beers to quench our thirst :o). the service was diligent and attentive. High prices for an "uncooked" dish, but undoubtedly equivalent to the prices charged in other establishments. I note the many, many errors in the French translation of the dishes, written on the placemat. Too bad, I didn't have a pen with me at the time... If your menu is posted somewhere on the web, say so and I can make the changes :o).

It was our first time there but not the last time. Everything was very good, both ice and drink. Exquisite cuisine, seasoned down to the last detail.

Spontaneously drove to Solothurn and had an unplanned meal here. We were completely surprised by all the specialties you can eat here. Everything was wonderful, we'll definitely be back. The service was also great. 👍

8.20 for a large beer from tab is the highest price I paid so far in Switzerland. Won't come again!

We are speechless....! On the Internet, warm food is available continuously until 6 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. there were only drinks.....nothing can be ordered anymore at 4 p.m. At 3:50 p.m. many people coming were turned away. Very disappointing...!

We had dinner at Federal. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it from the service and customer service standpoint. I ordered a cordon bleu without fries but with more vegetables. It came with fries and normal vegetables. Bad. With Cordonbleu, the cheese was still hard and never ran. After complaining they wanted to take it back, I said no because I wanted to finish eating with my partner. The boss was in the house but didn't try to find an amicable solution. That would be the minimum if he had reported to us at the table. Without us being made aware of this, an additional 2 x CHF 2.50 envelopes were charged. Now the cafeters have to make the guests pay here too. With that in mind, think twice about going there. Unfortunately, the boss has no idea about customer service or he doesn't need it. We have paid the bill in full, but we certainly won't be doing good advertising. Best regards A ripped off guest

So to begin with we arrived we asked for the lunch menu apparently they don't know what it is... anyway then we got a menu with exorbitant prices so we took the cordon bleu with fries and vegetables for 34 .- for this price you have to expect an exceptional cordon bleu... so I received it you would have seen the size of the thing you would have laughed the cordon bleu nothing exceptional it was a cordon bleu.. . the fries we don't really talk about them not good I think frozen fries. In short, it wasn't worth the exorbitant price. Then I asked for sparkling water 7.- The half I asked for syrup because the Romans like gummed water but Swiss German they don't know what it is... in short it doesn't do anything, but they don't We didn't have any syrup, we can still let it go, in short, the worst part of all this, they put you bread with butter on the table and in the end you pay 2.50.- per person for that. It becomes a scam. They better clean their umbrellas and sand and oil their wooden chair. Avoid this restaurant, it's really bad

As visitors to Solothurn, four of us spent an unexpectedly lovely evening in the Brasserie Fédérale. There are professionals at work with professional pride. The young employee shines as a hostess with her specialist knowledge and friendly manner. The food: Great classics prepared in a refreshing way. Modern vegetarian dishes can also be found. Plus great wine and everything in a beautiful spot in the middle of Solothurn. We will definitely come again.

Prices completely exaggerated. Mussels were probably not fresh, I'm guessing frozen goods. We were charged 5 francs for “envelope” on the bill. According to my inquiry, this was for the cutlery and bread, we didn't order any bread. Just profit from the good location and then cash in on the people. Never, ever again.

There were eleven of us in the BF today and had something to eat. The food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The crowning glory was the service, which made our good meal even sweeter with charm and wit. Thank you Anthea and the whole team.

Well, it was always more expensive there than usual. Nevertheless: the service wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. She succeeded in doing that too. Unfortunately, the prices are very high and you should consider spending so much.

While passing through for a professional meeting we chose this restaurant. Fairly wide choice of fish, meat, good and beautiful plates. Pleasant staff doing their best to communicate with us who are French. I ate very well in this restaurant, however I am appalled by the prices in Switzerland 😮.

If you happen to be in Solothurn, I advise you to visit this restaurant, which is located in the middle of this beautiful city. Inside, you will find a pleasant environment, friendly service and, above all, excellent food. + outdoor terrace, view Es war wunderbar essen und service.

An interesting restaurant with very fine home cooking, very friendly and courteous yet quick service. The menus are clear, varied and a real culinary delight. The ambience is pleasant and well designed, unfortunately the restaurant is a bit small. The price-performance ratio is good, but only because of the rare dishes, otherwise in the upper middle range. All in all, definitely worth a visit and a meal.

Actually should have given 5 points - food was great, location was great, service was good. One point deducted because: It's a shame that with a consumption of 100.00 per person, 2.50 is charged for an envelope (coverage); A cloth napkin is not enough for this.

Brasserie with a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and prompt service. Very fresh nut salad with egg - plenty. Good lentil curry with rice. Tartar Olé - highly recommended. The cream slice was - almost impossible to do otherwise - you never know how many guests are coming - not quite as fresh - but it was homemade and very good.

Open Merlot wine was really sour. Simply expired. 1 dcl CHF 8.- Mussels are classically more bad than good. Cordon Bleu was good.

Totally overrated. We go to Solothurn regularly. We reserve a table every time to make sure we get space. That's exactly how we did it here too. When we showed up for the appointment and pointed out the reservation, we were offered to look for a table - downstairs by the entrance or on the 1st floor. We chose the 1st floor because it was quite cool downstairs. At the top we were offered either a round table hidden behind the staircase or a table for two next to the drinks counter. The tables for 4 were off-limits and the other beautiful tables for 2 were occupied. I would have expected that if we made a reservation, we would get a decent table. Tables neatly set. Card offer OK, plate menu around 40 CHF, which I absolutely appreciate as long as the quality is right. I decided on nut salad with salmon and venison. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate the supplement offered and when I asked whether it could be exchanged for another one, no matter what..., the answer was succinct. Unwillingly, no! and if so, then CHF 1! Hello? What's that supposed to mean? The cost contribution of CHF 1 is completely misplaced. A) Menu costs around CHF 40, so you could assume that there would be a side dish of rice/noodles and B) The cost is crazy. I don't want to go into my somewhat annoyed comment about whether the menus are pre-packaged on the plate and just need to be heated. I then changed my mind to the salmon (not because of the additional fee, but out of frustration!). About the food: The Nüsslisalat was good, rather large portion. The salmon on the salad was generous, but slapped on so carelessly that the whole plate looked anything but appetizing. A pity. The salmon with rice was nicely presented, but had the feeling that it had been warmed up, the sauce had a skin, the rice was rather lukewarm in the middle. My companion had scampi, which was also beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, simply making the plates look nice isn't enough. Taste is always a personal question and there is no more than an OK. About the staff: It does what it's supposed to do, that's about it. On the way home, my companion complained about severe stomach cramps and she didn't spend the night in bed but rather over the ... bowl. Well - that's it.

My impressions are.The service wasn't good.The food was cold.I saw the brasserie.

I loved the food!!!! Escargots/snails were amazing! With Kräuterbutter instead of Pesto! Very good! I loved salad - grilled Ziegenkäse mit Brot und Honig was very good! Fish Suppe with Knoblauchbrot was just a Kurbissuppe/ pumpkin 🎃 soup don't know why was it fish suppe .. wine was ok as well. Service lady from Finland was very friendly and sweet ❤️ I wish we had everywhere people like her ❤️

We had coffee here in the morning and immediately reserved a table for lunch after the city tour because we really liked the menu. We were already impressed by the beautifully presented coffee; Lunch (1x salad with Roquefort and apples, 1x French onion soup, 1x sea bream fillets, 1x nierli with Dijon mustard sauce) confirmed this impression. The generous portions, the quality of the food and the friendly, attentive service are absolutely worth the price range. We will be back.

This restaurant is awesome. Staff is very friendly. 10/10 I know a lot about food and I have to say it was delicious. I had the duck liver, coq au vin with pasta and a tarte tatin. And it was a dream, everything was super delicious 10/10. Absolutely worth a detour.

Food was very good as always. Service that evening (August 18, 2022) was an absolute disaster. Table reserved for three people, two of us were there earlier. Ordered water - 2 bottles plus a bottle of Prosecco. A bottle of water arrived after 20 minutes and the wrong prosecco. The lady dropped the napkin on the floor - no problem, that can happen, but not a new one, no back on the ice cooler. Afterwards, there were still two of us, what do you want to eat……..After explaining that we are not on the run and would like to wait for the third person…aha ok. Then ordered the starter, the plates cost 3 francs extra, which was not charged. Then a bottle of red wine... ok, pour it yourself, like with Prosecco, is probably normal. The wrong menu was brought, everything was completely normal. A very nice lady in service, who was unfortunately not responsible in our “zone”, tried to patch up the situation again and again. She was very nice and accommodating. There was a huge racket behind the buffet, maybe someone new was trained? However, does this have to be in this volume and behavior? We are there often, but this evening is probably one of the very last.. Left a total of over CHF 300.00 behind, never again……

Food was very good, attentive staff.

The waitress spoke German poorly and didn't even know what Italian salad dressing was. And not even what moules are. She should actually know what her employer sells. There were also 3 different sauces, but she only knew about a tomato sauce, which we did NOT get. The fries were too salty and when a tip was given anyway, she didn't even say thank you. All in all, an unprofessional shop that is just extremely expensive. Never again!!

I wanted to enjoy a coupe with my wife on Sunday at 3 p.m., the prices are very high, but the location and the view of the main street are ideal. Unfortunately, we were informed that the restaurant would be closed with immediate effect, although the official closing time was 6 p.m. This is another way to get rid of the guests and they managed to do that with us, but forever.

High prices, the oil used to prepare the schnitzel showed signs of overheating and should have been changed. Nice location on the market square.

Good brasserie in the heart of the old town, efficient and pleasant service, good food but irregular: the same salad ordered at lunchtime and in the evening was not the same (the lunchtime salad was excellent and the evening salad was disappointing). The other dishes were good. A good address.

It was my favorite post to sit and have a glass of fine red wine during my stay in Solothurn. I hope to visit there again.
