Great atmosphere and perfect location! The staff was really friendly and there's a chill vibe. We came from Cabane Brunet and stayed in the dormitory and had a nice diner and breakfast before leaving for Cabane Chanrion :)

Great cabin for hikers and mountaineers. The views are spectacular, and you can just sit outside on the terrace to watch and hear the glaciers. Food was quite good, but you should pay attention this cabin has no drinking water - you’ll need to bring enough water with you, or buy bottled water that is highly priced - 8 chf for 1.5 liters bottle.. There is a shower outside for a free adventure, but you should be early enough in the afternoon unless the hot water runs out. The rooms are quite cramped, but otherwise this is a great cabin.

So you have to buy bottles of water for 8 francs. You have to pay for the night and the meal in cash. The dormitories were quite well appointed. I had the impression that the bed linen was not clean. The evening meal was OK: soup, pasta, dessert. You can choose the vegetarian variant. Breakfast was basic. The cabin keeper is smiling and full of humor.

Beautiful hike to access this magnificent mountain cabin

Extremely unpleasant guard (as noted in several other comments). If you don't drink, don't expect to have information on trail conditions or the weather. He will roughly send you "for a walk". A group that I later passed and who had slept in the cabin also complained about this unfriendly guard. This person is dangerous, does not have a mountain spirit but a soup seller, and should not run a cabin.

Very nicely located and well equipped cabin right next to the Combassière glacier. Accessible from a well marked trail from Fionnay (not technically challenging but a decent 1150m elevation gain). Night sky amazing. Hosts were very nice and welcoming (not sure where the bad reviews came from!) and accommodated to any extra requests. Food was homely and decent.

We are fully aware that the caretaker stays in the cabin and does not know everything, but expected a minimum of kindness in the face of our hesitations. This attitude of rejection and mockery is not worthy of a cabin keeper. - To continue, he turned off the light in the refectory without saying anything while several customers were still sitting around their table chatting quietly. - The next morning, he complained loudly that all the customers had come down at the same time for breakfast and that this lack of coordination between us was creating chaos in the kitchen.
