If you wanna know where the locals go to chill and enjoy the swiss vibe of chilling and reading the newspaper with excellent food, this is the place.

Super fine cuisine and the staff is also very nice and reliable. Also worth mentioning is the range of numerous daily newspapers available. Only recommended.

I wanted to make a reservation for a cozy coffee afternoon with friends. Apparently they don't need it. I feel so unwelcome on the phone that I look for something else.

As a Lucerne resident, I have known the café for ages, so I brought friends from Germany with me. They were thrilled by the ambience and the loving service! Absolutely recommended@

Service was terrible! Not even the nice view of the lake and the mountains could make up for it.

Were there a little more than an hour before closing time and wanted to eat something small. We didn't pay any attention to them for a while and were then rudely told that we couldn't expect there to be anything to eat so close to closing. But you go ask. We felt so unwelcome that we left. The lady just said she was sorry that we didn't get the attention we wanted, and her tone wasn't friendly either.

Food was okay. Service was a little slow but they were very busy. The view on the terrace was beautiful! Would go for just a glass of wine or a coffee if I were to go back.

Nicely centrally located for a cozy coffee stop

Stylishly furnished and although the restaurant was very full, we received good and friendly service. The breakfast offering was also very tasty. The quality of the bread is sensational. We would come back for breakfast in a heartbeat if we are in Lucerne. The location on the lake is hard to beat anyway.

All time favorite with the unbeatable host Nadja Scherrer - charming, accommodating and always keeping an eye on everyone! The ambience is a mix of French brasserie and Viennese coffee house with a fantastic view of the lake in a great location on Schwanenplatz. The atmosphere is cultivated and relaxed with countless regular guests. In terms of cuisine, there are classics and modern interpretations of Swiss cuisine and France. The wine list offers an equally extensive selection...we absolutely love it!! 🤍🍃🤍

Food good, long wait for service and food.

The food is okay. The serving portions are quite small considering the price, and it was just breakfast - ham, eggs, and what I thought would be a decent portion of bread. Beautiful ambiance. But I probably won't visit again. Not when I'm hungry, at least.

Lonely peak. Be it for a small cafe, something delicious from the cake and dessert display case or simply reading the newspaper with a warming tea... the Cafe de Ville offers you this freedom. And when the big hunger comes: MUST HAVE #1 Cafe de Paris Entrecôte (Gluten Free) MUST HAVE #2 The homemade club sandwich. or a Quiche Lorraine. Here you are king and you will be looked after professionally. . 👑🙏

I ate at their outdoor cafe and it was just what I needed. I had the European quiche, salad with bread. I had Schweppes Bitter Lemon. The food was delicious and the service very good. It was all reasonably priced, too. I recommend it to anyone.

I've been coming here for years and am very happy with the food and service. There are still point deductions. I have reserved a table for 10 a.m. I wasn't aware that this was limited in time. At 11 a.m. a lady came and told us that the table would be taken again at 12 p.m. The bill came at 11:15. This suggests to the guest that the place should be vacated. A pity…

A very stylish place in the center of the city with a wonderful view of the lake. The food is very good, there is both breakfast and simple meals as well as coffee and cake. A good place to just be and enjoy...

Limited veg options but you can specify the staff about the preferences and they will try to find out if a menu item can be customised accordingly (it’s a bit expensive - we paid ~70 chf for 6 adults and 3 kids in May 2023) We had vegetarian club sandwich and veg ravioli along with cream asparagus soup🍲 But we had a good experience lunch at Swiss cuisine restaurant

Tradition is very important here.

I‘m not an Entrecôte fan but.. this restaurant is amazing! The entrecote is so soft and juicy. Last time I tried the schnitzel, it‘s also good! Not to forget, beautiful view.

Friendly, service-oriented girls at the counter. The cafe is on the first floor. You can sit outside under a canopy. The audience is somewhat older. Doesn't detract from the cozy atmosphere. Although it could be more mixed. The Latte is served well and neatly with a glass of water. The Doppio is tasty and with a good cream. A glass of water is also available. The tea set is neat with a pot, lemon and the requested tea on tip. It is luxurious, you have to like that.

I was there with my 93 year old mother. Very friendly attentive service! Our asparagus soup was a dream, the veal liver with rösti was buttery. Highly recommended!😀

A wonderful place that withstands the clock overload. Läberli and entrecôte are the best! But the desserts are also homemade and excellent.

Top address in Lucerne. Food and service is excellent and highly recommended. The view from the terrace is fantastic.

Great tender entrecôte with home made French fries. The sause over the meat is even better then the famous entrecôte restaurant.

Waitress seemed shocked/annoyed that we wanted to bring a baby into the cafe so we left, wouldn’t recommend for families

I like to have a coffee with a croissant on Tuesdays after the weekly market at Café de Ville. Nice service, tasty and fresh croissant. And Café Crema on point.

I was very disappointed in how we were treated for lunch. The staff seemed to be annoyed to wait on us and sometimes wouldn’t take our order unless we asked after they took orders from people who were seated after us. It was an unfortunate dining experience in such a beautiful city. Luckily, this has not been our experience with most of the locals here.

Extremely expensive place for the quality of the food offered. Furthermore, they made us pay for a small bottle of wine as well as a large one even though we had pointed out the waitress' otherwise recognized mistake. Absolutely avoid

Yesterday I ate crispy Rööstis there. They were soft and not crispy at all. A pity. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere OK. The restaurant looked totally unkempt. Also it has to be clean at the end of the day.

A wonderful café in the middle of Lucerne. An absolute insider tip and should be worth a detour for everyone. If desired, coffee is also available with soy milk, which should now be standard.

Very friendly service with good food. Unfortunately, everything was different on another visit. Anyone who asks for a table like we did has lost. After a half-hour wait and what felt like 20 people taking tables straight away, we left again, but obviously no one was interested in that either. We won't be back that quickly

We were offered a table by the window with great view of lake lucerne. The chairs are very comfy and the drinks and food were great. Can only recommend!

A beautiful restaurant with charm. A rich menu gives you the opportunity to try very tasty creations made from high-quality food. The outside terrace is on the 1st floor as is the restaurant. You have a beautiful view of Lake Lucerne with its ships. The toilet facilities are clean and tidy. It's definitely worth a visit.

Day of the Luzern Marathon, very good weather and this City Café which extends its arms to us! Clean places, choice of tables, clean and polite staff. A bit of a wait though, but good service. Well served dishes, beef tartare and tabbouleh salad… surprising but good.

What looks like a typical “Grandma Café” to the observer from the outside turns out to be one of the most beautiful cafés in the Parisian/Viennese style to those in the know and connoisseurs. The furnishings have the loving patina that a real café/restaurant needs. Here you can relax and have a nice croissant with Café Créme while watching NZZ or Tagi, or go straight to a relaxed aperitif with excellent wine accompaniment or an elegant diné. Everything with discreet, charming operation. Definitely not for coffee to go or Starbucks philistines.

This was one of our favorite restaurants throughout our years living in Luzern, being a great option for a quick coffee or extended lunch on the terrace, or for their Sunday brunch...which is in my opinion the best in Luzern (make sure to book ahead). The service was always friendly and accommodating, and the food is generally very good. Highly recommend for lunch and/or brunch.

Lo especial está en q tipo de brunch deseas adquirir, y ello te lo traen a la mesa .. Nosotros solicitamos el de 48CHF, recibimos de lo mas normal, pero teniendo en cuenta q es Suiza se puede decir q estubo en orden... La atencion y el ambiente muy amable.

pour un petit déjeuner, quelques bouts de pains , beurre et confiture et un croissant avec la boisson c'est très cher payé. le cadre est sympa mais à ce prix
