Magnificent place, rustic as we like. Welcoming and family staff, nothing but happiness, I can only recommend. Looking forward to testing their pretty shaded terrace this summer with pétanque as a bonus... so beautiful!

In the Martigny/ Valais region on a short trip, looking to satisfy our fondue cravings. Cafe du Valais was a great find! The fondue au safran and the fondue aux bolets were delicious, we couldn’t decide which we liked more. The wine pairing and the Valaisanne platter were really nice as well! All throughout, Yann was a very welcoming and generous host, his passion for the region made very clear in the information he shared with us on the local wines, cheeses, traditions, and character of the different ski resorts. We left smarter and with full bellies, hoping to return one day!

They say that the Midi begins in Martigny... this adage is confirmed at the Café du Valais where we enjoyed a magnificent slow-cooked cassoulet, accompanied by an excellent Pécharmant then, for dessert, a remarkable old plum... perhaps even the best in the world. All in a holiday atmosphere reminiscent of the South West, thank you Yann for your warm welcome.

Here the marvelous is concentrated in the plate, the smile and the kindness of Yann, the conductor, who speaks with relish about his dishes and the wine pairings.... from Valais, of course! So, let go, you are here to have a unique moment. Trust Yann to guide you and make you have an unforgettable evening. Like all the previous editors, I too succumbed to the saffron fondue. A massacre "! So, the next time you go to Martigny you will make a detour to see Yann. Promise? And for passing pilgrims staying at the Catholic reception on church square, the restaurant is less than 100m away!

We can only warmly recommend the Café du Valais. We had the delicious cheese fondue with local saffron. We really enjoyed it and the service was super friendly! We'd love to come back!

The treatment received by the owner was impressive. Yann made us feel at home from the first minute. Besides, we ate there and what can we say about the Fondue 🫕...!! Incredible Boletus Fondue! Possibly the best of my life. 220 grams of cheese per beard! 30 fr.- per person...it's well worth it! We will return without a doubt. Thank you Yann for everything, you are great!🙌🏻♥️🙌🏻

I was there with Jo for a saffron fondue. What a delight ! I give 4 stars because it's my maximum, I never give 5 on principle. But this fondue would still have deserved the 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. So I'm giving myself 3 stars ✨, my way of rating.

Café du Valais Martigny is a great restaurant! It has a very warm & authentic atmosphere and the owners are very welcoming and pleasant. We (3 adults and 3 children) had the cheese fondue with a local white wine (of course) and a mixed cold-cut platter. All were delicious and the whole was definitely greater than the sum of its parts. Absolutely wonderful! We highly recommend this restaurant!

No dessert, not luxurious but what's the point, the Valais café offers a piece of authenticity. The menu consists of a few dishes such as Valais plates, cheese crusts and fondues, but what quality. I particularly enjoyed the dried meat and shallot fondue. The welcome and atmosphere is warm and local. If you are looking for a trendy place, go your way, however, to eat well in a local café atmosphere, this is the place to visit.

When paying for our two fondues we were criticized for not having had drinks at the end of the meal, telling us that this was not done... Funny comment

At the top, I recommend the blood of the queens, famous little wine of the region, on a cheese fondue as the two Patrons of the place know how to make.

Cool welcome, great choice of beers. Nice setting.

Rustic old "rock" bar. All wooden. Good music playing from old school rock to more recent things. Prices are really fair. Around of 10 CHF for a cocktail which probably is one of the best prices in the city. Staff is really nice and sometimes gives free drinks after a long evening. Ask for a special cocktail they will try to do their best!
