I had been away from home for many days and didn’t want to eat at a bakery restaurant, so I opened the map and chose this Vietnamese noodle restaurant with a rating of 4.6. The waiter's service was very good, but he was afraid that I wouldn't understand the menu, so he brought his mobile phone over to show me the picture. The picture showed a bowl of noodles with a plate of bean sprouts, but why was there only a bowl of noodles when the food was served? There are no bean sprouts in the noodles? Also, I clearly ordered tap water, why were I charged 3 Swiss francs at the checkout? I have been to so many European countries and ordering tap water is free. Why do they charge me 3 francs? Does tap water in Switzerland cost money? I really have no way of understanding why I need to charge for tap water. Is it because they saw that I was a tourist and they deliberately charged me for tap water?

Summerroll and Summerbowl were great. Vegetarian options available. Only the seats were a bit uncomfortable for my taste.

Best Pho in the heart of the city of Bern. Vietnam feels very close. Recommendation - definitely.

At €30 for a simple pho it should be the best ever. In reality it lacks spring onions, chili's, ginger and the beef is low tier. I don't know what the other reviews are raving on about.

This place offers some truly delicious food. The Pho, especially the special version, is incredibly tasty, and the Vietnamese spring rolls are a great choice too. However, there are a few issues to note. It seems that this restaurant can get quite crowded, as they strongly encouraged us to take a seat at 6 pm to secure a reservation for later. Oddly enough, when we left around 7:30/8 pm, the place was not even half full. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Pho with its generous portion of meat, the salad, being a starter, was just okay. What left me perplexed was the fact that there was only one shrimp in the entire salad, and it was divided in half. It left me wondering, “Why just one?”

The lunch menu is limited to six items, so you can eat quickly. Pho bo is really delicious. The salad with somen and meat is also delicious. The taste is really good for the price. Other than the fact that the music was a bit loud and the room was hot, it was generally great.

Delicious Vietnamese cuisine in the old town of Bern. The small but fine restaurant is simply and stylishly furnished. In my opinion the prices are a bit too high. Otherwise everything is good.

Canton has a very authentic Tonkinoise Pho Tai. The bouillon was perfect and consistent, as we ate there twice . If you’re in Bern and you have a craving for Tonkinoise Pho , this place will satisfy any connaisseur. The bouillon was perfect !! We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time . The soups are homemade and taste authentically delicious. The summer rolls were the best I've ever eaten. The restaurant atmosphere feels pure Vietnam, even though it is in the middle of Bern's old town. The service is courteous, warm and speaks perfect Bernese German. We will be back definitely!

Bowl of pho for 22 Frank's.... at lunch. Will not be coming back. Pho only had one type of meat and it was the wrong kind. Did not come with herbs or salads. Update: Thanks for taking out the time to reply. I can assure you, having eaten Pho in several different countries including America, the meal comes with a few common elements. The meal was advertised as "Pho" so we were misled. I can also assure you that everywhere we go, we actively seek out Vietnamese owned businesses to support the local economy. I quickly said yes everything was fine today because I did not want confrontation and we had a train to catch. Maybe rename the meal because I'm sure we are only Americanans that will visit this amazing city. They will have the same expectations of Pho and will equally get disappointed by the experience.

One of the first things that I should have mentioned is that pho in the USA are between 8-15 dollars. And we had been traveling Europe and had pho in Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France which was up to proper quality for a fair price of 12-14 euros for a far larger portion and with all of the required ingredients to be considered pho. The only thing you provided us was noodles, onions, soup, and the incorrect meat. The reason we said everything was good was because we didn’t want to create any unnecessary confrontation between us because we were more focused on finding some thing that would fill us up. A proper bowl of pho should consist of flat noodles bean sprouts, an array of garnishes Like basil, And the proper Meat which was much thinner than the one you served as well as meatballs. I had to say that if it was a local in our place that had never tried Vietnamese pho cooked by a seasoned Vietnamese chef, or have been to Vietnam his or her self, then the food might be OK to them. But in the short truth, real Vietnamese or just any Asian person would know that it’s not worthy of the title. Best advice. Use the proper ingredients and larger portions and lower the price as much as you can.

The price is also within the normal range if you take into account the costs for food, rent, wages, etc. in Switzerland. NOT authentic pho. They did not provide the vegetables that normally comes with pho and there is only 1 type of meat (not even the right type “Bo tai”). Soup was just okay. Worst 22 francs I ever spent on a small bowl of pho. (Convert to USD-almost 30 USD for a tiny bowl).

A lovely experience! The food was very nice. We ordered a bún/summer bowl salad with beef, a phó/noodle soup and crispy dumplings. Overall, all dishes were tasty, the noodles were very chewy, but the dumplings were a bit too oily for our taste. Nonetheless, we highly recommend the place!

I really like this place. It has a very cool atmosphere, it is young and vibrant - which is unusual for Asian restaurants. The food is served rapidly and everything is delicious. I highly recommend the pho and the restaurant itself. It is worth a visit (or more), for sure!

I went to eat here because of the many 5* reviews. The staff is super friendly, the room looks super fancy, I like the plates and the lighting and the view into the kitchen and I personally don't mind sitting at a big table with other people. Unfortunately, I expected much more from the food. I took the Pho with raw meat for 31.-. - the price is way too high, I even eat cheaper in Zurich. - Unfortunately the soup was rather bland for my taste. Unfortunately there was no soy sauce or chili on the table to add flavor (there was fish sauce and a spicy sauce) - there were a lot of noodles in the soup but unfortunately the meat had to be found. That's almost cheeky. For this price I expect a lot more meat. Very unfortunate.

As a caveman I can but say that the food there is unga bunga, which directly translates to "straight up fire". The soup warms my soul from the inside after a whole day of hunting bears in Bern. Exactly what I need to end my day's good work. Will come again and bring a bison as thanks for the wonderful experience.

The cantin offers a very succinct menu in the purest Vietnamese tradition, therefore perfectly mastered. A unique establishment of its kind in Bern and where you are always well received.

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Portions are sufficient and pricing is reasonable. The broth of the pho was superb and tasty. Having been to several countries (including Vietnam) for Vietnamese food I can say this is one of the best. Service was great and friendly. Am puzzled by the less than stellar reviews by others and wondered what their basis was.

Probably the best Pho I’ve ever had! The quality of the meat was simply great, and I loved the option to taste cooked meat as well as raw meat I also appreciate the extremely cordial and efficient service! The waiter was all by himself, however with a nice smile and good attention , he delivered a first class service Excellent experience, highly recommend

The food is “just” okay, but it doesn’t do justice to the comments here. I read through the comments and was expecting something outstanding! + Ambience looks very cool + very, very friendly staff + Crispy dumplings + Menu: good portion, fills you up! + Freshly prepared + quality food - Inside, the table is so wide that sometimes you can't really hear the other person - there is neither homemade chilli sauce nor soy sauce (which, to my taste, is very unusual for an Asian restaurant) - so I couldn't spice up my meal with “just” fish sauce and Sriracha sauce - Summerroll: overpriced for the taste - I ordered the Pho Special: overpriced, the taste wasn't amazing (I would have liked to have seasoned it with soy and chili sauce) Unfortunately, I was overall disappointed with the restaurant as I had read a lot of good things, but neither the taste nor the price was to my liking!

Very nice, modern atmosphere and cool branding. So far I've only gotten the Summer Bowl for takeaway there. The ingredients were fresh, plentiful and the beef was tenderly fried. One star deducted for the long waiting time (I had the impression that guests who ate on site were served faster) and for the rather steep price (CHF 22) for a lunch menu. In my opinion the price should be under CHF 20, there is a lot of competition in the area that offers freshly prepared meals at lunchtime at significantly cheaper prices. However, I have to admit that the cantin has a special position in Bern (there is no comparable offer).

Good but expensive for what it is. Vibrant and charming interior with very friendly and attentive staff. The menu is small, which is not a bad thing, however expectations are then higher. The dishes then have to deliver every time. We both had phở and found the broth a little too salty. The beansprouts, coriander and lime (only 1/4 per customer) were a nice touch but a fresh chilli and a selection of herbs (maybe it can't be delivered) would have made it more authentic. If we came again we would ask for more lime and chilli. For 2 soups & Saigon beer we paid chf 71. Probably won't return soon since it feels too expensive.

Nice restaurant, the admittedly short menu is delicious every time. Quite pricey although not as pricey as my yeezies so it gets a pass. Will come by again for a banh mi and a coffee on saturday.

The restaurant is super central and is run by two super nice and friendly people! The Bahn mi on Saturday was absolutely delicious, as was the beer and the Bobba Tea. The absolute highlight for me was the fried tofu - I have no idea what kind you need but BOAH it was good with the sauce. I'd love to come back!
