We (13 people) arrived for a late lunch and were warmly greeted and seated with care. Food & staff were amazing.

I think the food sharing concept is brilliant. The food is excellently prepared, it's hard to decide when ordering and you tend to eat too much. Creative but still down-to-earth cuisine, super nice, efficient staff and a fair price/performance ratio. Tasting tips: Pretzel (divine), Beef Nuggets (unique) and Katsu Chicken. If you want to enjoy a drink before or after, you will find a great selection of drinks in the in-house bar.

A great restaurant and bar! The staff is lovley and the food is excellent🤤 There are many people complaining abouth the prices and I really see the point. But as someone who loves food, I rather prefer good expensive food than low prices for bad food quality. And there are literally no cheap restaurants in Switzerland, more over most of them have a really bad quality for their prices!!! SO I AM HAPPY I HAVE FOUND CAPITOL😉😍

In my opinion one of the most beautiful and complete places in Bern, excellent food accompanied by unparalleled attention, the entire team is super friendly, I go frequently, so there are already those who recognize you and give you a warm welcome, without a doubt my favorite place.

Terrible service experience: Chaotic conditions, guests are called by their names without being asked (they probably think they are so "cool" and "trendy"), complaints are not taken seriously. Never again! The sad thing is that in the service desert of Switzerland, most guests apparently don't even notice such things.

I ordered an Amaretto Sour. When I asked the bartender about the drink because I was irritated by the carbonation present, he explained to me that it came from the tap and therefore might contain some carbonation. It's incomprehensible to me how you can offer such a drink from the tap. I drank carbonated water with a little amaretto flavor. Inedible and the price is a disgrace.

Absolutely loved it! Food was awesome, especially the nuggets and the beef! The service was quick, profesional and friendly without overdoing it. Looking forward to go again!

I had dinner with my wife at the Capitol. Luckily I had a reservation. Definitely recommended on Friday evening or weekend. Friendly welcome and got a table near the bar. Friendly and prompt service. A good selection of drinks, drinks professionally created by the bar. When it comes to eating, the idea is that you order several dishes and then share and taste them. We had the pumpkin with barley, the alpine salmon with chicory, and the cheeseburger. The salmon is spot on, the pumpkin is nice and creamy and grilled to perfection. The barley is cooked into a fine gersotto. The chicory was perfectly cooked, fried and with the apple pieces it was a poem. Likewise the celery foam, wonderful. The burger was very tasty, had a good consistency, was fried a bit too much for me. Super fine cheese and great bread rolls. Later we had two more desserts...caramelized apple and francipane...very successful and perfectly arranged. All in all, a great performance from the kitchen. As always, the ambience is a matter of taste...modern and dark...not really my thing.

Wasn’t planning on coming to this restaurant but found it across the bar where we were having a drink and can I say : INCREDIBLE. Honestly, maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s the drink before but the food, the service, the server !!! Everything was as good, even better than expected. Overall, we just had an amazing time with my sister and the last touch with the desserts was simply perfect. A magnificent and very pleasant room. The evening menu is a selection of small dishes to share (or not) in tavolata style. The recipes are good and sometimes original, but the bill is steep if you want to be satisfied. The lunch menu is rather limited, but the cook is accommodating.

The cocktails were good, the service was quick. However, I really can't understand why a bowl of potatoes or a bowl of carrots should cost 18-19 CHF. See pictures. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes.

Super nice restaurant with a very innovative menu. The waiters are all very friendly and you can tell that they enjoy working there and serving guests. The menu was explained to us and recommendations were made to us without asking. I was particularly surprised by the selection of non-alcoholic cocktails and long drinks. The quality of the food is very good, a must-eat when you are in Bern!

Beautifully done restaurant with ambience and cult potential. You have to like the sharing principle (we didn't know). The food was not convincing - neither in taste nor in quantity. Beef nuggets pulled “strings” (vessels, tendons?) - Zander was ok but way too expensive for 3 bites. Rump steak wasn't convincing at all, nor were the watery zucchini. Eggplants were good and ok priced. All in all, the food was acceptable, the service was good and the restaurant was great. But for 200.00 (4 people) we had nothing more than a better aperitif. There's a lot of room for improvement. But the restaurant is relatively new and perhaps still needs some time to get started? (P.S. Afterwards we stopped at the Italian restaurant for dinner - and the tagliata di manzo was perfect!)

Had dinner here with friends. The food was really great and not everyday. The staff was also very friendly. I would be happy to eat here again. In my opinion, there is a point deduction for the price-performance ratio and for the main concept. The idea would be to share the food with each other. However, not all foods are suitable for this (e.g. cheeseburgers, panna cotta).

A great and very pleasant time spent at the Capitol, impeccable service in a very nice area of ​​Bern. The food is really excellent, we highly recommend the burger and we loved the different varieties of beer, we will come back with great pleasure!

Lunch outside in front of the restaurant. The wide tagliatelle with zucchini and tomatoes were delicious. Plus sourdough bread with butter and salad as a first course. The chairs are comfortable and the location is interesting as there is always something going on in the alley. Could very well stay here longer with a glass of wine. Service friendly.

I have eaten at Capitol a few times now and I have to say every experience has been phenomenal. Not only is the food of excellent quality, it is so delicious and leaves you wanting to go back for more. I love the open kitchen and if you sit at the chefs table you can watch them work. Service is above and beyond and the atmosphere is ace. Highly recommend if you are in the area - even if you’re not, travel there - it’s worth it!

The Capitol is located in the middle of the beautiful lower old town of Bern, surrounded by other bars and restaurants as well as special small shops. A stay in this lively area is highly recommended. When you've had enough of shopping, you can sit down at the Capitol for a delicious lunch, an excellent cappuccino or a gourmet dinner. The furnishings are elegant and spacious. It is particularly beautiful outside under the arbors or on the alley. The menu is pleasantly small and the dishes are imaginatively and lovingly prepared. The price level is very fair (for Swiss standards). The service is extremely courteous, friendly and efficient.

Our group of 4 stumbled upon the Capitol during our recent visit to Bern and were very pleased with the quality of the food we chose and the excellent service provided by our server Julia and her co-workers. During our early May visit, the menu was “small plate “ portions so we ordered 2 per person and a variety we could all share. We got 2 pretzels, an order of Parmesan crisps, 2 orders of the Black Angus beef nuggets (Delicious!), 2 trout donuts , 2 orders of fries with truffle mayo and everyone had a glass of the local Riesling. Everything was yummy and even my 83-year old mom, who had never had this type of food, was pleased with the experience. Keep in mind that these are not American portions, but we all had enough to eat. Thanks to the Capitol staff we had a great evening meal in beautiful Bern!

Wherever chance takes you - after a morning visit to a museum and a walk along the Aare, I had to briefly replenish my sugar stores. We were walking along Ratshausgasse and came across the inviting Capitol and didn't regret that we chose it. We only had a little something but it was so exquisite and tasteful. It was a warm, sliced ​​pretzel with Emmental cheese, onions and truffles and a home-brewed lager. The ambience was harmonious and the service was very friendly. For us it was a successful discovery. The meal is based on the principle of sharing. Everyone chooses 2-3 dishes from a list including starters and side dishes and main course. These come in separate dishes that everyone can help themselves to. It's simple, nice and very good. The service was fast. The place is a bit noisy.

I was there for the first time yesterday, ordered something, then you said you didn't, then you immediately suggested an alternative twice, which made me very happy to discover something new. I always find it fascinating how in Switzerland you can charge 30.- for a burger at fast food level (doneness an issue?), and then you have the audacity to charge extra for fries.

Where to start….. I went for dinner with a friend and started off with some of the small plates (pickles, olives, soda bread, beef nuggets) and quickly decided to order the entire menu. I think the best words to describe the experience are: ‘Quality’ and ‘Approachable’. It’s evident that the chef (and team) want to provide delicious and comforting food with a strong focus on ‘good’ ingredients, without the pretentiousness of many of the restaurants today. The sharing concept is on point, as I don’t know how someone could refrain from trying all the plates brought to the table….. Overall, it was a lovely experience and you can feel (taste?) the love put into the food. I’ll be back soon to try the brunch…. Also, any chance you can share the playlist on spotify?

Have already been there twice. The first time just for drinks, the second time for food and drinks. Almost an unreserved recommendation. The drinks are really great! And the food is of a high level in terms of taste and quality in relation to the price paid. Logically, it's not ultra-cheap - but the taste makes the price more bearable. A beef nuggets starter (Black Angus!) costs CHF 14.00. The Bernese Wagyu CHF 55.00 and the burger CHF 29.00 (without fries). Reasonable prices for a top location. Then why not 5 stars? You get quite stressed when you eat. We were still eating the main courses and were asked about dessert. At the Capitol you can enjoy great, unusual dishes to share that are otherwise unknown in the Bernese gastronomic scene. Panna cotta with olive oil, chicken katsu with coleslaw, baked salad or the beef arancinis with truffle are some of the dishes that can be found on the regularly changing menu. The dishes were served quickly, so it's worth ordering them one after the other so that they don't get cold. The service is attentive and the hip hop music in the background is not too loud, so you can have a conversation. The Assam tea I ordered was one of the better ones I've had abroad. The decor is minimalist but inviting. One point deducted for the relatively small portions and price performance, because 4 mushroom arancinis cost CHF 14.-, the chicken katsu with 3 chicken pieces is +CHF 24.-, a cocktail is at least CHF 17.-. For 4 people we paid 270 francs including wine and tip. All in all a good experience. Recommended.

I like to eat out often, but I've never seen anything like this in Bern. A really great concept, super tasty food and a great ambience. I felt very comfortable there and will definitely go again. The only thing I regret: ordering too much at once. It's better to take your time and not order more than two dishes at once, otherwise the table will be full of plates and some things will get cold because you can't eat everything at the same time.

Beautiful location in a unique house. Good desire for something special, but unfortunately the process is still uncertain and a kind of trapped in the concept. I know it's good manners to offer bread for sale. The four small pieces (about half a Mütschli) were very delicate and served with generously whipped butter. 6.- but more of a Zurich price. For these 4 snacks you need approx. 1/3 of the butter. If you want to order another portion WITHOUT butter, it's simply not possible, we're told - the kitchen can't handle it. Napkins for finger food must be ordered separately. No bread or fork is provided for the dried meat with a little crunch on top. So it takes a lot of fumbling to put it in your mouth...etc. The wine we choose is declared to be of lower quality... we order it anyway and it's brilliant. Probably too cheap, not cool enough. We also have children with us... oops... so off to the corner in front of the courtyard door. Maybe at some point it will be a little looser and better practiced... we might try it again in the summer... Cool concepts are cool as long as it comes across as cool... otherwise it's just exhausting.

We had dinner at the Capitol on New Year's Eve. 4 walkers. The starter was good, but the rest wasn't really special and was clearly too expensive for the price of 135 per person. The service was slow (they would definitely have needed one more waitress) and the atmosphere (lights and music) was uncomfortable and not worthy of the evening. It's a shame, I see a lot of potential and am happy about a young team. Ultimately, the “experience” leaves a bad aftertaste and unfortunately I will no longer be a customer.

Nice location in itself, but the Capitol is not yet convincing. The burger wasn't warm, the fries were the last leftovers and there was no atmosphere in the restaurant on a Thursday evening. The cocktails and drinks are among the best in the city!

We dined at Capitol and loved the delicious food and impeccable service. The atmosphere in the impressive building, which has been completely renovated with great attention to detail, is inviting and the staff was very friendly and attentive. If you want to make the most of the restaurant's concept, you as a guest must follow the share concept, ideally with the share menu for 2. This also includes the sophisticated and not entirely cheap cocktails for the aperitif and dessert. The palate and nose should also be ready for roasted, smoked and bitter aromas. If you're only looking for the traditional, you'll find fresh bread, the Capitol Burger, the fries and the ice creams, but this limits your selection dramatically from the start.

Were there for brunch. The service was great but the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. For 25.- you get two tiny pieces of bread, some cheese, butter and jam and a small muesli. For 19.- also a pretzel. I can recommend it for drinking, but I wouldn't eat there again.

The offer is a bit expensive. The quality of the food and the excellent service justify this 100%. We would definitely like to come back!

We walked past the Capitol and were really impressed by the interior and the ambience when you look inside. After yesterday I can say: the inside is also very beautiful and stylish. The wines were very select and the waitress was knowledgeable. Now to the other thing: the waitress asked us three times within 10 minutes whether we wanted to order now (we had just ordered a glass of champagne for the aperitif) which was tedious. We thought the share principle was cool. Unfortunately, 75% of the food is made with butter and other dairy products (so not for those who are lactose intolerant), which surprises me in a modern and trendy restaurant. I would rate the quality of the food as medium. Conclusion: drink again at any time, probably not eat again.

One of the best new restaurants I’ve been to, a great addition to Bern. The kitchen is simply fantastic and wonderful service too. The cocktails were good, but I would have preferred some menu selections that were a bit less funky, strong and bitter.

Ive been few times and I always leave the place very happy. Food is delicious and cook in a coal oven. The sharing concept allows you to try different dishes if you wish and portions are perfectly fine. I love the cocktails for dinner and the variety makes it a fantastic place for the afterwork as well. Price is average for Switzerland with the difference that here all the product comes from local farms and it’s not overcooked. A personal plus for me as well it’s the open kitchen where you can see if things are cook to order and if a place it’s clean. Best burger in town.

Complete demolition! A sandwich, over 20 francs, two tiny ribs of pork over 50 francs. The trick is as simple as it is transparent: under the guise of local, sustainable products, guests are shamelessly ripped off. Given this fact, the so-called “sharing” concept seems like a bad joke. The portions are so tiny that you can't share them. The only thing you have to “share” here is the bill because otherwise you can’t pay it.

Exactly what Bern needed!! I absolutely loved the concept. High quality ingredients, prepared in such a creative and delicious way. Amazing atmosphere, modern design and super nice and attentive service. And last but not least - my absolute weakness - an open kitchen that gives you a glimpse of the magic happening behind the scenes. Bravo!!

I tried Saturday brunch and was thrilled! I wanted to share some delicacies with my friends and I found my favourite place in Bern. The value for money is perfect! The quality of the ingredients sublime and despite a bit of a wait (the place was full), it was worth it. The service could be more efficient and faster, but good things come to those who wait and those who know how to enjoy them ;) I highly recommend it and we will be back!

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not at all right :-( Cheeseburger (without anything) for 28.-!!! 7 florets of cauliflower for 16.-!!! Beetroot salad (mini!) for 14.-!!! Wagyu steak for 49.- (just meat without anything!!!) Chasselas wine for 9.- and Pinot Blanc for 11.- per dl.!!! Sorry, but there were three of us (only ate aperitif portions) - that's far too expensive and unfortunately no longer worth it :-( The restaurant is nicely furnished but unfortunately there is very little heating and therefore it was very cold - not exactly pleasant to linger...

Very friendly and helpful service. The chef's menu composition is worth it: some courses are excellent, others are very good. The quality, quantity and price of the menu are absolutely fine. When all the tables are occupied, it can get a bit noisy - but you could also say atmospheric 😁. Conclusion: really great pub with a good concept and very good food. Highly Recommended!

Service is very good. We ordered the crispy chicken and prawns lasagne, which are definitely too salty… And other dishes are just ok but not delicious. For their price I expected more tasty dishes. Thank you for your feedback, we do not accept your offer to change the dish because we do not want to make it really complicated and we do not want to stay longer. I hope you can understand. As for the price, I was questioning the kitchen's capabilities, not the local resources. I am quite willing to pay more for suitable products.

I though: it will be my favorite place to chill in Bern...until I saw the bill!!!! We took 2 tea and knew it will be 7.- for each person. What a surprise when the tea and the half cup arrived and the glass teapot (1 for both of us because we choose the same tea...). We were a bit confused because you literally have some 2dl tea...but when the bill came: 18.-! What...7+7=18? Yes yes, because in small letter it's say that the 2 glasses of tap water that we received at the beginning (which we though it was a generous act of kindness^^) will be charged too...

Finally something different gastronomy in Bern! Service was super friendly, competent and not intrusive. Great atmosphere, very cozy, feels comfortable, sometimes a bit loud. Drinks excellent. Food top - I personally really appreciate the share principle and a slightly different concept. Not so stubbornly Swiss ;) Price-performance ratio very ok - no different than in other good restaurants. Has that certain something and Danger!! The best TIRAMISÙ in Bern!

Absolutely recommended!!! Definitely star potential. Wagyu Burger is great if not one of the best burgers I've ever had. Also perhaps the best cocktails in Bern to go with the food. You order different portions which are then delivered to share. So every person can try everything. Tip: Ask for a cocktail recommendation from the mixer to go with your meal!

Phenomenal food, the kitchen is absolute top. Ingenious creations you don't find anywhere else. The food sharing concept is something to get accustomed to, but it definitely has it's perks! As other comments mention the food has it's prices, but I think it is more than reasonable for the quality you get. Very nice and attentive staff and very good cocktails to go with the food. One of the absolute musts in Bern if you like haute cuisine for a reasonable price.

I didn't like the stubbornness that they wanted to carry out their "concept" by hook or by crook and we couldn't order the same thing. Their concept is “Share”. What you order comes to the table at random and is then shared. For example, if both parties want a burger, there is no guarantee that it will be served together and that it can be eaten together. I think you should be able to respond to your guests to a certain extent...
