Chämistube in Glarus Süd

A wonderful Saturday in the large igloo tent with a fine raclette with 6 select types of cheese.

You stand in front of the serving counter and study the electronic menu displays and order the Glarner Netzbraten from the staff. Not available today... Zigerhörnli - not available either. Order cheese pätzli, that's what you hear from behind the counter. The menu today is chicken goulash with rice and vegetables (or something like that). Unsubscribed from Spätzli and ordered the daily menu. If you can't update the digital displays, stick with signs and paper... even handwritten with mistakes is preferable to wrong and also helps behind the counter. And unfortunately the vegetables were far too hard for me and only lukewarm... really hard... the colleague also said... and the igloo not only looks strange from the outside, it also blocks space for additional sun spots and the view from inside.... carrots etc. were really hard...

Restaurant at the Grotzenbüel station in the middle of the ski area: good selection of dishes on the menu, all self-service. There is a large fireplace in the middle of the dining room. You can also mix drinks together at the wide self-service machine instead of just buying them in the bottle. When the weather is nice, there is also a large sun terrace.

Actually a very nice place, only the meat is beaten so thin that it is very dry! Prices for a family at the upper limit.

We were able to enjoy lunch four times in the Chämistube with the ski camp and were also treated to delicious, homemade desserts. The homemade pasta sauces are also highly recommended. Keep it up...

With the JUSKILA we were guests in the Chämistube four times at lunchtime during the Glarus Sports Week. The new Gerant Paolo and his team are doing a great job. We were treated to fine food and homemade desserts every day. My absolute highlight this week was the fine, homemade plum tart based on a recipe from Rolf Schweizer, former Gerant in the mountain restaurant. Keep it up.....

One star is still too many. Sticky Älplermagronen from the Bain-Marie. Ready-made schnitzel and bad fries full of flavor. The only edible thing is the barley soup. Braunwald is beautiful, but the chamber is really bad. A nice example of why tourism has a hard time if you don't invest in the menu or the house in 50 years. Even the most beautiful nature is of no use.

Beautiful mountain restaurant with a great view

The location of the restaurant is excellent, the food is simple. Nearby there is a playground, a slide and two trampolines. The kids quickly lost interest. The place is very beautiful.

Goulash and barley soup, coffee and bowl as well as Meitschibei were very good. Pleasantly quiet (no disturbing music). Prices rather cheap.

Good food, but the schnitzel;) the Schnipo could be a little bigger, otherwise it's great. The service is friendly. I can only recommend.

The food had hardly any taste and was completely overpriced. The service was unfriendly and impatient. The toilets were dirty and the paper hadn't been refilled. Not recommended for the high guy.

Self-service, normal prices, not recommended during meal times, better a little before or after, hardly any space. Food good👍

Good view. Hardly any vegetarian/vegan choices, not to speak of healthy choices - the menu is very old school and from my point of view belongs to a time that I had hoped our society has moved past. Sadly they don’t have my wife’s favorite dessert, nor does she enjoy their coffee.

Great place with a fantastic view. Due to Covid regulations only terrace operation. Everything is neat and organized as you wish. Daily menu with local specialties was really tasty, would be happy again.

Nice playground with climbing wall. Otherwise I didn't find anything special about the restaurant. Self-service and unfortunately not everything that was on the menu was there. But the view is great and the restaurant is very well located next to the gondolas.

Everything was good except plastic chairs. Very tasty cheese spaetzli. For children, hot chocolate with cream. Also nice for families with small children. Our children were able to play a little nearby and go sledding on small hills.

Advertised on their website for chicken nuggets and chips to be included in their ski day ticket and when we got to the cash desk this turned out not to be correct. Also the queue for food is horrendous, prepare to wait 20 to 30 minutes in the queue.

Child seat (ikea high chair) and changing table available. Despite the number of tables, the resti is full (overcrowded). Very long queue for food even at 2 p.m. (holiday day, nice weather). Otherwise nice view. Luckily, in addition to the regular Resti offer, there was also a coffee corner with pretzels and sweet pastries for those who didn't want to stand in the long queue.

After Paris in 2 days I think I would rather spend the rest of the week here. The hospitality and food are fantastic! The people were warm and welcoming even though I did not speak the local language. I highly recommend also staying right next door in the yurt at adventureworld. We found it on Airbnb when looking for a place to stay in Switzerland. It is pretty remote and expensive for what we are used to but it is well worth the money and like natural medicine.

Despite self-service, you have to wait in line for too long until you get past the cash register and can pay. It's never been as bad as it was today

The location is great even in summer. Only the prices are completely exorbitant... 18.50 for minced meat with croissants... Sorry no...

Good self-service mountain restaurant with a large sun terrace

Very nicely located and fine pizza (winter season only). The terrace is often not prepared at the moment and guests often have to do it themselves to find a place in the sun. Plütterhütte is run like a mother and you never really know whether it is open or not. Eating in the chamois room is fine, but nothing more. There are often long waiting times and towards the end of the season the menu was more like a snack.... You don't feel quite welcome after all! It's a shame that in such a beautiful area, guests never really know what they're getting for their money.

Unfortunately, the food was inedible and overpriced, the service was very unfriendly and completely unprepared when we arrived as a large group. We were all very disappointed. This can be done better!

Consistency of the fondue was crumbly and orange in color. For 4 people there was very little for 22.50! When we asked for a second helping we were rudely turned away and pointed out that there would be an extra charge. unheard of! thank you and never again. service desert

Slope restaurant: food and atmosphere as usual, beautiful sun terrace, waiting time (queuing!) of about 40 minutes for lunch, however, is an absolute disgrace...

Good food and fantastic mountain scenery

Good Swiss mountain food, friendly staff, large outdoor playground, and a few toys inside for small kids. Warning: the kitchen closes at 15:30, there's only sandwiches and cookies afterwards.

Four of us were in the Chämistube on New Year's Eve and were quite disappointed. 160.- paid for a fondue and a few thawed mini dessert tarts. The tea for the fondue wasn't even included and was sold for over 4 euros per cup. There was no festive atmosphere, there was no live music or fireworks. Conclusion: the most expensive fondue I've ever had...

I'm there every now and then in the fall, otherwise I go skiing in the winter. The bratwursts and the Zigerspätzli are tip top. There could probably be more possible when it comes to menu selection.

Whether winter or summer for outdoor freaks. Great panorama. Claudio and his team take care of your physical well-being. The food is good and the prices are reasonable for a mountain restaurant in the car-free Braunwald.
