Great coffee, everything was perfect, the serving of the tea was absolutely perfect, I would love to come back

Patisserie and cappuccino perfect. The lady at the counter probably wasn't having her best day. I asked politely for a spoon...which was missing from the cappuccino and was greeted with a bored "yessss. I'm coming...". Then snapped at other customers. Sorry for stopping by....I will avoid in the future!!!

Very good food and drink, nice service and a very good atmosphere. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that a lot of the food was already gone on a Sunday afternoon and you could hardly order anything anymore.

Very expensive, cramped and little space

Everything went well except for one thing. We found the chocolaterie very cozy. The pictures about the creations of the Ghanaian cocoa farmers were also very informative. We were also happy with two drinks. The unusual thing that we unfortunately experienced is the excessively expensive tap water. We are not price sensitive at all, but it is unacceptable that they charged 3.7 francs for a glass of Hahnenwasser. And its price was nowhere on the drinking menu and the waitress didn't inform us about it in advance.

Super fine hot chocolate, light or dark.. recommended!

I ordered a special 38% chocolate that only tasted like milk, I asked the girl to give me something to make it taste like chocolate and she was offended, and she gave me two tablespoons of ovomaltine, that special chocolate, there is nothing special about it

We sought refuge from the snow at Chocolaterie am Klosterplatz, and it turned out to be a cozy spot. The hot chocolate was very yummy, presented with care. We shared both the hot chocolate and a dessert, both of which were good. However, it was a bit perplexing when our request for a second glass of water with the hot chocolate was declined. The service, unfortunately, lacked attentiveness. Despite this, the delicious treats made it a satisfying stop in the cold.

The chocolate is great... unfortunately the staff still needs improvement. Longer waiting times and dishes still on the table from the last guest.

Decent coffee, great location, tasty Spitzbuben

The coffee is located in the center of the old town of St. Gallen and impresses with its beautiful view of the monastery garden and the cathedral. We had two hot chocolates and an apple pie. The chocolates were tasty, but the pastries were average. Pleasant and homely atmosphere overall. The place is clean and the service is direct, cheerful and courteous (but orders take a little longer). Unfortunately, there is only one toilet for each gender (this results in huge queues for women). Price-performance ratio is ok, rather on the upper limit (but still justifiable due to the location and view).

Really rude servers. We were asked to leave or to consume something else!!! What kind of hospitality is this? Really disgusting. Just money-oriented.

Very unfriendly staff! We wanted to have a drink on Saturday afternoon, then found a place and I left my bag on the free chair next to me. The waitress came and said to me in a rude tone “take your bag away, other people need a seat too”. Of course I would have taken my bag away immediately if someone was looking for a seat and as we all know: the sound makes the music. After my companion was insulted, we didn't feel like having our coffee anymore and left!

The staff was so unfriendly that we left the restaurant before we ordered anything.

Hot chocolate in Switzerland early in the morning while you hear the bell tower of the Protestant church

Cool offer, rather expensive and service not so good because the staff is overworked. Hiring more people would be a free tip. Internet connection also very bad.

Our waitress, Dominik, was super friendly and accommodating. No wish was too much. Chocolate and chocolate nut mix were very tasty. We can only recommend it.

Extremely unfriendly staff, waitress didn't respond to 3 calls. When this was pointed out to her, the excuse used was: "I didn't hear her." There was also a complaint when someone wanted to order something else. As if you as a guest had to apologize for being a guest here. Not recommendable

The cakes are not cheap but they are well presented and very good. The service is friendly. The coffee is also of good quality.

A fantastic location and poor, slow service. The ice cream is frozen inedible, the waitresses don't know how to serve it, only possible in cups. The fact that a chocolate shop serves powdered hot chocolate is just ridiculous. It's a shame considering how central the place is. Great location with a very bad and slow service. I definitely don't recommend! Despite the air-conditioned room being empty, the staff told us to sit outside where it was 30 degrees. We asked for understanding as my husband has a heart condition, unfortunately the staff ignored our request without any empathy. In addition, the waitress, serving the coffee, poured it on the saucer and... wiped the saucer with the cloth she used to wipe the table! Nowhere in the world have I encountered such insensitive and vulgar behavior.

The staff who served us were friendly and humorous. The dishes themselves were fine. The variation in mixed reviews could be due to the staff.

Unfortunately, absolutely unfriendly service - if you are served at all. It's a shame about the super nice location on Klosterplatz.

Definitely not recommended, extremely unfriendly staff, the manager in particular shows a massive lack of decency and treats guests as a "disturbing factor", according to the motto: "The guest is the focus and therefore gets in everyone's way". Unfortunately, I only read the many bad, but from today's perspective, absolutely credible reviews afterwards, otherwise I could have saved myself a lot of trouble. The coffees and apple pie were very nice. The service is a bit delayed because there are not many people serving. The cafe is in a very nice spot.

It’s already 2023, can’t believe there are still people acting so racist;) Asking if we can have a table and the staff just replied “no” with an aggressive attitude. (and there were tables, we were not blinds)

The restaurant is beautifully located in the old town of St. Gallen. We ordered drinks and something small to eat. The service staff seem to neither see nor hear the guests, are unfriendly, forget half of the order (on purpose?) seem to suffer at work. And the worst thing: the boss doesn't care at all! She prefers to chat with the employees with her back to the guests so that they don't disturb her. Definitely avoid this place!

One star is still too many! Two coffees and two patisserie and after 90 minutes the waitress very arrogantly asked us to leave! I have never experienced anything like it! If you read the reviews, this is not an isolated case and the answers from the owner are sometimes not appropriate! NEVER AGAIN!!!

It's Sunday, there's not much going on. Four cakes, three coffees, one soft drink, one water. What's so difficult about scooping that order onto a few plates and delivering it?? Wait 20 minutes. 10 minutes wait for the bill. Quality very good, service BAD. As is unfortunately the case far too often: if the location is fantastic, you don't need good service, there are enough walk-in customers

Came here, had a nice person let me know someone wanted to talk to me, had a very nice conversation with a delicious coffee and a nice chocolate, then had the bill paid for me. Great view of the church. Highly recommended.

A must on every visit to St. Gallen

We have been looking forward to visiting this chocolaterie for a long time, but unfortunately the experience was extremely negative due to a waitress. We arrived at the cafe on time at the reserved time. After the first waitress ignored us, a second, nice waitress came up to us and pointed us to our reserved seat. The other waitress then came and told us that this table was reserved. We kindly informed them that this table was reserved for us. After 20 minutes and at the suggestion of the nice colleague, she asked about our order, whereupon she didn't want to or couldn't tell us which cakes were available because we should know this ourselves. I wanted to order a drink and a cake when I was told that she could only accept drink requests and not a food order at the same time. All in all a very strange experience and not at all what we expected.

Good place in the old part to have good coffee, hot chocolate and very delicious desserts. They also have chai and oatmeal and soy drinks. Close to the center and next to the cathedral. The waitress very friendly.

Actually you should give 0 stars by now. I have been happy with the chocolaterie for years, but the new staff is unfriendly, unaccommodating and unforgiving. They don't treat you as a guest and are never on time with your order or pastries. The quality has decreased. There are now broken/ dented patisserie in the shop window. For this price the quality is not justified!

The café is stylishly furnished and creates a cozy atmosphere. The hot chocolate tastes fantastic and the pattern on the foam gives the chocolate a beautiful look.

The service was very nice, but sorry 6.10 francs for a cappuccino to go? It's not possible and that's why I was there last time.

If there were a few rolls of bread I wanted to hear... the staff didn't tell me that I had to wait forever until we were served.. that's about 5 minutes away from me Hani is there and Wido waits... an employee serves the place where no one is there yet and the other one has a lot of glasses... as well as Hani's local counter (rather hateful tone) but I'm really pissed off and I don't know what I'm doing...

I came here in the late afternoon with a group of senior citizens. Friendly service and the chocolate drink was great. Everyone was very satisfied.

My absolute favorite café at the moment. I also learned that the owners have great appreciation for their employees and you can also feel this as a guest.

Cozy, with a wide selection and a wonderful view of the monastery square. An absolute pleasure every time.

Our visit was wonderful. Fast service and fine tea as well as a good dessert. My colleague had a hot chocolate and was also satisfied. The only thing we didn't like was the decoration (wall pictures), but that doesn't affect the food/drink.

Had some really tasty chocolate

Great location in the city of St.Gallen, very nice staff in my opinion. Regarding the other negative reviews about the staff, there is nothing to complain about. Always my pleasure ! The brunch is also highly recommended.

I will definitely never go to this cafe again. I was in the cafe when I was visiting, self-service would still be possible if the prices were still reasonable. Virtually no visitors in the cafe. Ordered two cappuccinos and a mineral water with a lemon wedge. None of the five women behind the counter were responsible for us and preferred to do something other than our order. After asking several times when the coffee was ready, we received our order and cheeky comments.

Very unfriendly staff. Self-service and too expensive for that. With the best will in the world, I cannot recommend it. Never again!

Magnificent half-timbered house and these two turrets with these unusual blue and white colors

The coffee and lye peaks were very good. Unfortunately, self-service works rather poorly. The staff got in their own way behind the counter and seemed somehow haphazard. It is also not ideal if there is only 1 coffee machine in a cafe. In any case, we had to wait far too long for 2 coffees and 2 pretzel croissants. The system with the devices that are supposed to make a noise probably doesn't work so well...we asked after 15 minutes of radio silence and lo and behold, we finally received what we ordered. Conclusion: self-service is for a Waldschenke, a Migros restaurant is not for a cozy cafe. This won't be our favorite cafe in St. Gallen

What can I say. As many customers have noticed, the service is sometimes a bit arrogant and unfriendly, especially those who speak (Northern) High German. Things were a lot better in Maestrani times. It's interesting to see that despite many bad recessions, nothing is getting better. This leaves tourists with a bad impression of St. Gallen.

Came here with my sister this morning Frankly, cannot remember of a unfriendlier and more unwelcoming coffee morning experience. Food and croissants were good.

Chaos at the counter, cashier doesn't know the current offer!? You should take a look in the showcase yourself! Customers after us - also problems with what they ordered.. maybe we should rethink the concept.. what a shame about the place..

Great ice cream at a very fair price and the service was very friendly!

In my opinion, the last cafe in town, staff is underground, perhaps better off in a slaughterhouse, a disgrace for our beautiful monastery site, go back to Horn, nobody likes you there either.

Absolutely not recommended! We sat down in this café and ordered an ice cream. After we were asked to see for ourselves what types of ice cream were available. We told the waitress our ice cream request and sat down again. Our ice cream arrived and after we had devoured half of it we were arrogantly asked to order something to drink or leave the café. Apparently Glacé customers are not real customers and are not allowed to sit down. Something additional needs to be ordered so that you can sit. At this point we had been eating for about 5-10 minutes. What an absurd, arrogant and absolutely cheeky comment from the waitress. After we each ordered a drink without discussion, we were both promptly given the wrong drink. But it wasn't just us - the two tables next to us were also served incorrectly. But that was actually to be expected, because instead of a notepad (which seems to be urgently needed), the person serving was holding an ice cream in his hand and taking orders while eating. Conclusion: - absolutely cheeky, arrogant, unprofessional and unfocused staff - overpriced for the quality of the products (e.g. 3 dl. tap water for 3.50.-??? For that you should expect S.Pellegrino as offered by the competition.) Edit: When reading other comments, it became apparent that we were not an isolated case, so it was not an extraordinary day but this behavior in the café is probably the order of the day.

I was there just this Sunday and wanted to invite friends, one of whom works in the upscale restaurant, to the ice cream parlor. Incredibly rude staff. The German bald guy with a beard, in his 40's, barely recognised us coming there, we were just going to grab some coffee and maybe some ice cream. It was middle of the day, scorching sunshine, so we moved the table into the shade. Instead of politely ask us to move it back, he yelled at us. Fair enough we thought. So we switched to another table. He ignored us until we felt that maybe we should leave. He yelled at us for not pushing the chairs in and was incredibly rude and complained about us to other customers. We barely even spoke to him and he managed to yell at us twice. I wish he gets the anger management that he so obviously needs. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy solely based on his behaviour.

Just had a very rude experience with the staff here. The staff overreacted to us wanting to move some chairs to sit in the shade. After a while we decided to leave because we didn't feel welcome. As we got up to leave the waiter started mumbling to the other customers how we were rude, trying to flip the script on the situation. Customer beware.

Mega tasty, could be addictive. But it could also make you poor. Even if the price is steep, you should treat yourself to it! Nice and friendly service!
