Terrible! This restaurant charge additional money on customers without any kinds of informing. The boss provides very impolite and unsupportive explanations saying:”it’s all written on the menu, can’t you see it?” “ I know it’s illegal, but most Swiss restaurants keep it as usual.” Cannot think of a reason why tourists are treated like this. Worst experience in Swiss.

Very tasty, good quality meat. The one in the photo is the big plate, enough for a good eater, unfortunately not quite, but that doesn't detract from the whole thing. You can order more. The price is a bit more expensive but very tasty

It’s our first time to eat there and we were 6 people, the food was great but we weren’t allowed to share the food that we ordered. We weren’t that much hungry and we were on a budget but the manager or the waitress told us to order more. They told us not to share the menu. We just ordered korean bbq for 2 person, 1 duck dish and rice for each one and we thought it was good portion for all of us because as I said we weren’t hungry that much to order much food and we were also in a budget. The owner was good but the manager was forcing us to order more. In total we paid 164 chr. Thankfully we didn’t ordered more just like the waitress said.

Real Asian cuisine, freshly prepared with good value for money.

Everything is good, service ok. The only thing that is a shame is that the table for 6 people is too small. The person on the left has one arm outside the table and the person on the right also has one arm outside. Not practical for eating. Otherwise, it's very good. 5 stars

Chu Garden is very authentic and serves South Korean cuisine. The specialty is the table grill/barbeque, which we ordered and was excellent. The service is very friendly and you can converse in all languages. It was a cool moment for us and we enjoyed it a lot! PS: Don't think you can stop by there spontaneously... Reservations are strongly recommended!

HoliMouli... my new favorite Peitz! Guys, if you want a table there, reserve it! otherwise the hut is full. We definitely recommend the BBQ grill integrated into the table and then a plate of meat, etc. The staff is incredibly attentive. The homemade IceTea is addictive. Everything is just perfect.

The food was very tasty. We were able to order vegetarian options. It's a shame that the "boss" only seems to come when you want to pay the bill. Otherwise you will be served very friendly and courteous by women.

The Chu Garden has turned out to be a real gem. The outstanding BBQ experience is the crowning glory of this restaurant. The grilled specialties prepared are unique and unparalleled in Bern. I can highly recommend the Hot Pot for lovers of spicy cuisine. Whether for special occasions or relaxed evenings with friends, this restaurant offers the ideal setting. What is particularly impressive is the child-friendly atmosphere, which makes our family visits a pleasure. The attentive staff and warm owners help every guest feel like a valued part of a large family. The hosts' many years of experience is reflected in the service. As a regular customer, I particularly appreciate the consistent quality and personal service that continues over the years.

Korean BBQ at Swiss Chinese Restaurant A barbecue with drinks, a few simple dishes, and a table setting - costs about 100,000 won per person. The grill, rice bowl, etc. are all Korean. (They charge 9 francs for setting the table.) If you don't have enough side dishes, you get more and it includes rice. It's friendly and the taste is good, so I plan to visit again.

Almost 5 stars!? It's not possible, 48.- paid for 4 slices of bacon, 4 slices of beef and 2 pieces of chicken with the skin, no it's clearly not worth the price, plus we still charge you 9.90 for a few sheets of salad ! Never again.

Yesterday my friends & I celebrated 2 birthdays here at Chu Garden. We were 9 people in total. We had a huge party! The table was decorated for our birthday. We almost all ordered the Korean BBQ. The food was excellent & the service was great. At the end we got a little birthday surprise with singing :-) Thanks to the whole Chu Garden team, we had an unforgettable evening!

This was already a while ago but now kow that I‘m reading all of these reviews I feel like sharing our experience as well. I went there with 2 friends and it was our first time at the place and the waiters reminding us constantly that they were going to close in 2 hours. We ordered the medium or small bbq menu and one side dish because we had a budget. The order took 1 hour to arrive making us stress even more as we only had 1h left to eat. We also noticed that they brought in a lot of food. We did not say mich as we thought that was part of the menu. The stress ruined the atmosphere…Later we wanted to pay and the price was somehow at 170CHF, yet we only ordered the medium menu with ONE SINGLE side dish that was maybe 12-13CHF. And we could only pay by cash too (which we weren’t reminded off when coming in) luckily we had enough cash on us. I just feel like we were charged double… because how did we end up at a price of 170CHF when we only ordered those two things. The food was kind of bland and not worth the high price AT ALL. We thought it was because of our appearance (given that we are africans) but now that I read those other reviews I see that it was not just us. The waiters weren’t rude, they were just really stressing us as they were litterally watching us eat from the front desk…We definitely won‘t be coming back…

The amounts are extremely little for the price, and there is nothing especially significant about the meal. Although the service was excellent and everyone was pleasant, it took too long to get the raw beef delivered and set up our station. The only enjoyable aspect of the place itself was the ambiance.

Very good and attentive service, except for the moment when the full BBQ plate was changed for us. Ambience ok. The quality of the food, especially the meat, was poor in relation to the very high price. Bacon greasy and tasteless, beef tough, chicken, well. I would have liked a lot more choice of vegetables than just a bit of kimchi, cucumbers and bean sprouts. It was my first time there and unfortunately I wouldn't go again.

We reserved a hotpot for 17 people at 7:30 p.m., the food wasn't served until 9:30 p.m. slowly. It took at least another 20 minutes until all the side dishes were on the table. The meat, vegetables and mushrooms were very good. The mild broth was very bland, the spicy broth was good. Unfortunately the evening was very disappointing because of the drink service and we will not be visiting this restaurant again.

The visit to the Chu Garden was just great. Friendly owners, friendly service and top quality food. A short explanation because it was our first time having the Korean barbecue and then we started. We were definitely not there for the last time. Price - performance is right!

Chu Garden is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Switzerland. The culinary delights and the outstanding service deserve the highest praise. The Chu Garden team has masterfully managed to bring the fascinating Korean BBQ culture with all its nuances and flavors to Switzerland - an achievement that truly deserves recognition. I find the pricing to be extremely reasonable, and the always friendly service also contributes to an all-round successful experience. Every time I visit the place with my group of 6-8 friends, we are amazed at how easily we can reserve a spot. Even in the difficult times after the kitchen fire, they maintained their tried and tested concept, which shows their commitment to quality and continuity. The successful combination of exquisite food, the inviting atmosphere and the sincere warmth of the staff creates an unforgettable evening every time. Chu Garden truly embodies authenticity and is always a highlight of the day for me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart that I can always rely on you!

Ambiance in the garden is very pleasant: For lunch: fast service, lunch menu with 3 menus, good selection, but can also be ordered à la carte. eat delicious! price ok. gladly again.

The food is good, but expensive. A portion of fried rice with chicken to take away cost us 22 francs. It wasn't so incredibly good that the price was justified.

Extremely attentive and friendly service. Very fresh, first-class and well-measured ingredients for the special charcoal grill built into the table. The additional marinated vegetables that are served take some getting used to. The ambience inside is attractive and tastefully designed. The outside area is more reminiscent of a temporary arrangement. The restaurant is recommended, not only for one or two Korean specialties, but also for Chinese dishes.

Had dinner there last month. And it was very delicious. The service also came regularly to ask if everything was OK. I would love to come back

Friendly service, good food, nice atmosphere, overall we liked it.

Unfortunately, the service staff was repeatedly very unfocused and inattentive. Given the prices, I don't think that's acceptable. Orders were ignored several times or wanted to be recorded twice. For example, drinks were not poured for everyone, glasses were sometimes not cleared away, even though new drinks were brought.

We had bbq for lunch and it was delicious! One of the staff speaks english and helped us, but all of the staffs are very friendly and kind! They accepted dog! Very nice restaurant and clean!

It's an average Korean BBQ. You don't smell like food afterwards as the suction units are really efficient. This is great. The quality of the meat is very good, but the BBQ severely lacks amount of side dishes and sauce variety making this a very overpriced and somehow boring Korean BBQ.

Food is good but way too expensive. For tap water they charge CHF 7.50.- (it’s cheaper to buy iced tea!) You also pay additional for the charcoal for bbq. Sadly the service was not really good too. Will not come back.

The food is really top notch, very tasty and elegantly prepared. Price-performance ratio is absolutely justified. The restaurant is also very chic. A small star deduction because I personally found the service staff always friendly, but a bit intrusive! Every time it came to ordering something from the menu, they came by relatively often and after a very short time and we felt a bit under pressure. Also, the last of us hadn't finished the starter yet because the soup was really hot... after the waiter came by for the third time, he asked if he could still bring the main course... I would have liked a little more time/space from the staff. Otherwise everything was sensational and I would like to come back. :)

Chu garden has been one of our top 3 favorite restaurants in Bern — Without a doubt, the best Korean resto in the city! My partner and I have invited several of our friends to dine with us here and everyone of them LOVED it and came back. The ambiance is great, portions are more than fair and everything we have ordered so far is amazing! Also so grateful for the outstanding service! Mary, in particular, has always been so nice and accommodating. 🥰 Looking forward to our next visit!

The food was very tasty and light. You can tell that it is freshly prepared because the vegetables still taste very crunchy and fresh. In addition, it is not as greasy as in other Asian restaurants. The ambience is Asian style and not at all crowded. The service is very friendly and they understand German very well. We recommend!

We were a large group but unfortunately my sister and I weren't happy with our Szechuan beef (the meat was raw). We also ordered spare ribs and when the food came the waiter said it would take another hour... but he had no idea :) when I wanted to place the order I had to look for where the food was and the waitress was annoyed because I had to look. A bit of a good mood would be an advantage. When the waiter was still clearing up, he said, still on his cell phone... eh? Is it his problem what I do? Put in some effort once but never again

Were there for a birthday. Had the duck menu. The food and service was excellent. Prices are upscale, but it's worth it. We paid 360 francs for four people including drinks.

I ordered spare ribs. Firstly, there was little meat, it was somehow breaded and fried. These are not spare ribs. It is actually forbidden not to serve what is hidden behind the name. Also very greasy and too expensive.

We were 12 people. It was good, but it was also better. Price/performance close...!!! You also pay the grill separately per person 9.- for some coal... The beef meat was toe, pork meat was extremely fatty, my butcher has the better meat 😉 1 menu was cold, was reheated, as I said it was good, we just know it differently (better). I would like to write something better, but it wasn't our evening. The service was good and very friendly 👍

Very fine food, great service and a cozy grill atmosphere.

You can get very good Asian food in Chu. You can also celebrate a Korean barbecue on a grill that is integrated into the table. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to do this but I'll definitely do it soon.

The food is good if you like Korean, only the wine was a little stale.

The take away food isn't bad though Fr. 24.- a small plastic box with little food and old rice is excessive in my opinion, hence 3 stars deducted. It used to be better.

I don't know if it was a bad day for the restaurant but it was not a good experience. The men staff was not friendly at all, the Korean bbq had marinated chicken who was not necessary and we were so shocked about the sauce for the korean pancakes, it wasn't soy sauce but maggi sauce ! Anyway, after that we where felling not good and the price was totally off. no value for money, very disappointed...

Very good food! The only negative point was that a table for nine people was too narrow.

Food was mediocre and too expensive for the quality. I found the BBQ basic price of 9.90 per person too expensive and exaggerated. The two of us suddenly had 20 francs more on the bill because of that. Fr. 9.90 per grill would be more appropriate. I saw it here, that's it.

I've been there a few times and the food has been excellent every time. There were a lot of people that evening and the food came on time. Nobody had to starve. The decor is very nice and fits perfectly with a Korean barbecue restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food there is highly recommended.
