Confiserie Beeler in Bern

It's getting worse and worse here. The waitresses are already as unfriendly as possible, but what's more, they offer chocolate bunnies with an edible cell phone to attract the kids... pathetic, just a money pump in this place. I still came for the good and well presented pralines in pretty wooden boxes, but that's it, I can no longer support this soulless place. I can’t wait for them to be replaced by another chocolatier.

Very unfriendly staff, should be replaced or complete an intensive friendliness course.

Our choice was a Berliner with vanilla cream. Well… you really couldn’t say it was fresh. The pastry part was quite hard. Although it was obvious that we wanted to eat the pastries in the cafe, we still had to ask for cutlery first. When we asked whether it was normal for the pastry to be so hard, we only got very strange answers... it might be gluten-free (but it wasn't declared that way)... when it's cold it gets hard 🤔🤔... . I will definitely not visit this cafe again.

We had breakfast. Good but very expensive. You have to pay the extra for industrial jam. The breakfast service was OK, the waitress pleasant and smiling. Which was not the case for the one who served the bakery side. Not a smile and the service not pleasant. We bought an Orangetta, an orange cake, delicious. Expensive confectionery but good quality products.

Delicious pastries. But unfortunately this does not outweigh the rude staff. Can't recommend the cafe. There are several cafes around Bern that are much nicer.

Friendly and competent service. Nice and bright rooms. Loving furnishings.

Very fine confectionery. Always a good tip to buy the delicacies there. The raspberry cake with the whole berries is highly recommended. The pear and St. Honore cakes are also recommended. Go to the store and check out the large selection of sweets.

I can't say 100 percent about it, as I only go there (almost) every Sunday for coffee and croissants. But then everything works out perfectly - the waitresses always know what I'm going to ask for. At the beginning of Holy Week I asked via email what the café's opening hours were over Easter. It's now Thursday and I still haven't gotten an answer! I'm now slowly understanding why the reactions are so bad; I agree with this!!! Management probably doesn't need this at all; They haven't yet understood that the customer should be king; In any case, in this company the customer is not king!!!! But what the heck: they can only thrive on Sundays because it's the only confectionery/cafe that's open in Bern!! I have nothing to add to this report

Very unfriendly service on 01/03/23. I asked politely at the checkout whether I could order a coffee or whether there was service. Not because I waited too long, but because I was simply unsure whether I would be served at the table, as I didn't see anyone serving at the time (for about 3 minutes). The aunt behind the counter literally yelled at me to wait at the table. I left the restaurant immediately and will not set foot in it again. I hope that management will rely on capable staff in the future... for the sake of the customers.

Sandwiches were not fresh (dry) and lousy service. A pity.

Got a small sandwich for 4.00! bought at the counter. The waitress dropped the sandwich. She just said “you can fight against it” 😆 In addition, the coffee costs 5.50!!! Horrible prices 😬 Does Beeler actually read their reviews? I will never consider or recommend Beeler again.

A pretty bakery that is a feast for the eyes~ The bread tasted good, and unlike other reviews, the staff was friendly~ They have chocolate in various shapes :)

A coffee-rolm that encapsules the classic meaning of a coffee and tearoom from ca. 1960. (of course tastefully renovated since then). Little details are abound: cafe creme is served with real cream (25% milkfat) in a separate mini jar. Complimentary croissant before 11 am is another extra touch. And finally, sugar from swiss national production (Rupperswil) packaged in its own Beeler Brand.

Good confectionery with a nice tea room near the train station. Good for a short date Gatis croissants with coffee before 11 in the morning. Nice sweets to give as a gift! There is a good selection of newspapers in the Tea Room.

I was there again today after a long time. I had a canapé, it was very good. The young woman who served me was also very friendly and, what was special, she spoke real Bernese German. It's just a shame that you're exposed like that.

Very poorly received on Saturday 09.09.23 on the terrace by the waitress, the same for the purchase of goods... rigid, no smile, in a hurry, not at all friendly. Cake/tart (self-service) really delicious. Service incredibly unfriendly. Rarely experienced something like this. That's not how you run a café. And thanks to the poor treatment, we received the wrong drinks... Not recommended.

I tried it but suffice to say that I will not come back. On one order, two errors. Not a very friendly waitress. In addition, the croissants are small and not very tasty. I also took a croc-monsieur. Just a joke… an ultra basic mini croc-monsieur without any accompaniment or seasoning. I really don't recommend. There is much better not too far away

Fast service. But the staff is very hectic and loud… seems to be under enormous stress. A glass of water is served with coffee. I noticed how the full glass of water that customers didn't drink was simply re-served. Doesn't work for me!...

Cakes very good, great advice at the counter and the price was absolutely right.

For the second (!!) time, an ordered birthday cake was forgotten to be made, even though, based on the experience last time, we asked by phone the day before whether it would work this time... From a (rather overpriced) top confectionery I expect a clearly different service and not that you are portrayed as the "culprit" because the order didn't reach you... Communication problem? But it doesn't help if you want to serve a nice cake to the birthday child and it's not there. Time and travel from a suburb to Bern to pick up the cake was spent in vain. NEVER AGAIN and not recommended for pre-ordered orders!

They didn't want to serve anymore because we went in at 3pm for a take away and the waitress kicked us out because they closed at 3pm (she didn't even bother to ask what we wanted)

Service very friendly. Rhubarb curd cake too sweet. Ordered hot water to extend my black coffee. This does not exist here because the automatic machine would calculate it automatically. Lukewarm water is possible. (Human for machine or machine for human - that is the question).

Bought chocolates in the shop. Received confirmation email. But was never delivered (processed). When asked (info@) no one answers. I will definitely never again...

I sit down at a free table in the café, there are various cakes on the menu, I order a cake, the waitress says she can't bring it, I'll have to get it from the front of the bakery. Huh what?? Should parry with: "What, pay? The money is in the bank, you have to get it there."

Unfair ! We paid 9.80 CHF for two glasses of water (not in a bottle !!!). We explained it was not soda as it is written on the bill. So sad because the sweet was good.

The macarons have nothing to do with macarons in terms of taste or consistency. Taste like nothing but sugar. Espresso was good but overall very expensive compared to other cafes. The tables are very close together, we sat back to back with other guests and had zero room to move. Overall a disappointing experience, at these prices I expected better quality.

The best stollen I have ever eaten, exquisite flavors of butter and almonds with rum, extra moist inside and exquisite aromas. A real delight.

Pleasant atmosphere, like inside and outside (two options outside - at Spitelgasse and, covered, in the passage). Great service, even in the evening before the end. Every Saturday, coffee is open 1 hour longer than the bakery! Great!👍On Sunday it is also open until 6 p.m. Just too many visitors and only 2 service staff. Nevertheless, we didn't wait very long for service.

Bad value for money! Paid CHF 5.80 for a Maison hot chocolate. The drink was served in a very small cup, with a little cream, and lukewarm! Stressed, unfriendly staff. Modern, but gloomy, carelessly arranged interior, unkempt toilets. Lack of staff is obvious in this restaurant.

The salad was light and brown. In addition, there were many things that weren't even on the menu. When we wanted to order pieces of cake from the store to the table with coffee, we were told that we had to get them from the store ourselves... what kind of attitude is that? Paying Fr. 5.20 in the morning for a coffee including croissants is ok! But I think charging Fr. 5.20 for a coffee in the afternoon (without croissants) is totally excessive! They paid a whopping 40 centimes! How you justify this surcharge is a mystery to me!

The staff at the branch on Spitalgasse is very unfriendly, service like this has rarely been experienced!! I should pay for the Coke in the bottle separately at another checkout because it is a ToGo item. I ordered the sandwich to eat outside at the table. When I drank it, the waitress immediately came and told me that I had this I'm not allowed to consume it, even though I paid for another item, i.e. the sandwich, to consume it here? IMPOSSIBLE once and never again!!!

Fine pastries, quick and friendly service

Quality is undeniably very high, also good types of bread. Service in Liebefeld has a lot of room for improvement. The staff is often busy working in the tea room, which leads to long waiting times in the store. There is also a lack of attention. Apparently, arranging goods in the display takes priority over the customers.

I got a salami sandwich and macarons take away. You hardly notice any of the salami because there is unfortunately very little salami in it, the baguette was rubbery and not crispy. The macarons don't taste bad, but they're very rubbery and didn't look very nice. It's a shame! The staff was friendly.

The products are fantastic. 5 Stars. However, to say the least, the service at Bern City does not meet expectations (difficult to communicate, low level of expertise in the products and how to handle them) and I cannot understand this in a company like this. A pity.

Bad and expensive. We ask for cold water, they bring it hot and insist that it is cold, so we ask for ice. Afterwards we ordered a croque-monsieur that costs 7.50chf and they bring us a simple ham and cheese bikini without even bechamel. Sad not to go.

Very unfriendly service staff. There is hardly any greeting, orders are taken without making eye contact with the customer. I paid for my coffee with small change. The employee said in annoyance that I should please not do that in the future; I could also give change to Migros or Coop.

Nice place to take a little break. Good thing, the rain is starting to fall. A very good little Viennese hot chocolate with whipped cream on the side. A limited choice of rakes because we arrive late (4:30 p.m.) on a Sunday. Very friendly waiter in any case.

I got chocolates for a friend in the Confiserie Beeler online shop around November 23rd or 24th, 2021 as a gift on November 26th. ordered with postal delivery. But my friend never received anything. I did not receive any billing for my order. Also no email confirming the order. On 12/21/21, Beeler deducted money from my credit card for something that I supposedly ordered on 12/20/21. I asked for insight, wrote several emails and phoned. Beeler doesn't respond. On the advice of a consumer advisor, I wrote a registered letter to Beeler in March 22 and never (!) received an answer. I would spend more money on a debt collection operation than I would get back. That's why I don't do it. But that will probably be taken into account. I give zero points for this service, which only cost me money, a lot of time and hassle. In the future, I will only consider confectioneries and bakeries in the city of Bern that have customer management and deal fairly and honestly with their customers.

The service has lost a lot of quality in recent years. The staff is understaffed, very stressed, doesn't know where to defend themselves and therefore sometimes seems rather unfriendly. This clearly shows that cutting costs for personnel is not doing the business any favors. In addition, it is not pleasant for customers when negative comments are made about this at the buffet. Management should take a look at the books.

The Quarkzöpfli and the other things on offer are a dream, unfortunately the service was very unfriendly. It's a shame, in a business like this you expect something different.

This company in no way honors its privilege of this excellent location. It's hard for me to imagine anyone volunteering to be a regular customer here. The sandwich baguettes are more reminiscent of the shell of an old peanut than of tasty bread. Shame about the content. What was even worse in our experience than the poor quality of the goods was the unfriendliness of the service in the café. This is not where you want to spend your Saturday morning.

One word: Orangetta! Just Amazing.

I go for the canapés: tiny, expensive, and to die for. The chocolat maison was disappointing, made from powder? The ambiance is rather drab. Somebody brought me a small carton of confections that probably cost a fortune but were delicious.

I went last Saturday with a friend to drink hot tea, we would have done better to go to the buffet at the station, we would have been better received. There is a dragon who serves customers on the tee room side (Spitalgasse address) and according to other reviews, the service has been deplorable for a while (just for a person who is detestable). If I were the bosses, I wouldn't keep such an unfriendly employee. If this person can't stand customers, let him work in a factory. For my part, I wouldn't set foot there again, because there are many other much friendlier places in Bern.

Unfortunately I can only agree with the previous comments. Unfortunately it's no longer where it once was. Very unfriendly service, stressed, annoyed, lecturing and not customer-oriented!!! This particularly affects the branch in Spitalgasse, Liebefeld is ok, as you can pick it up at the counter :-).......Over the years, the points mentioned above have gotten steadily worse...It was definitely the last time here!! ! Bern has alternatives.

It's the worst way to see how the employees are treated by their boss (Mr. Beeler) and even exposed in front of their own customers. I am at a loss for words.

I saw an attractive orange cake at the window, so my friend and I decided to have a coffee break. The cake was ok but less tasty than attractive, and my cappuccino was a deception. It’s a pity that such a nice espace in the middle of the city is not so good as it looks!

Very bad ! The personnel don't know anything. I ordered a latte and my cup was filled in half ! And asked which one of their pastries are sweet and they gave me one which was not at all sweet! And if you want to sit there they charge you extra! What a humiliating stupid customer service! Get your pastries and coffees somewhere else where you get treated with respect and dignity!

It's a big mouth. They are my father's 90th anniversary.
