Don Pincho in Basel

Our experience at the Spanish restaurant was disappointing. Despite making a reservation for my birthday and calling a week in advance to order paellas for four, we were rejected by the waiter as most of my companions wanted tapas. Although the menu offered paella for two people, the waiter refused to prepare it unless the majority wanted paella. So we decided on tapas. But then the waiter urged us to choose the more expensive mixed tapas offer for 44 francs per person, even though some of us weren't that hungry and preferred to order individual tapas. After a long discussion (15 minutes) and rude behavior on the part of the waiter (comments like: no matter what you want, it's not possible) we were finally able to order individual tapas. The atmosphere wasn't pleasant either, with comments about limiting olives only to those who accepted the more expensive offering and refusing to make cocktails like mojitos even though they were on the menu. Privacy was also violated when the waiter removed my shopping bags from under my chair several times because he "didn't want to see anything on the floor." But then the waiter pressured us to choose the more expensive mixed tapas option for 44 Swiss francs per person, even though some of us were not very hungry and preferred to order individual tapas. The atmosphere was also unpleasant, with comments about limiting olives only for those accepting the more expensive offer, and the refusal to prepare cocktails like Mojitos, even though they were on the menu. Very nice restaurant next to the Rhine river with excellent tapas and very nice service. The red wine was fantastic too. Only drawback is that, even if listed as parter restaurant of the lunch card in CH, we could not pay with it due to technical issues.

The food was excellent but the quantity was little for two person paella,the price was expensive, good service.

Authentic - and superb - Spanish food and drink in a beautifully decorated setting. Service was extremely professional and friendly. Fantastic location and views. This place is a gem.

Great and tasty selection of various hot and cold tapas. Be sure to try the selection for 2 people. A little expensive, but it's worth it and you'll definitely get full! The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The view of the Rhine is wonderful. Be sure to get a window seat. Moody lighting, not too bright. Therefore good place for a date as the mood is kinda sexy :)

Love the food here and whilst the location is a little off track from central Basel, once you’re inside the atmosphere is relaxed, the tapas is consistently high quality and you just need the house red to complete a great combination for a good evening

Had an informal evening gathering over tapas and a nice Toro red. Liked the friendly service and food and the location offers a great view of the Rhine

Good food, great service and fantastic views. Came here for dinner with the family and was thrilled with all the tapas we had. We started with the cold tomato soup then ordered over ten dishes, sangria and water and finished every last piece by the end of the evening. The server was fantastic and the ambience nice and pleasant while we enjoyed the views of the Rhine.

Very pleasant atmosphere. The location on the river and the view of the bridges and the river give a special atmosphere.

Way too expensive if you want to be full. It's better to go to a hotel restaurant.

Everything was very good... the staff was very friendly

From the outside you don't notice how big the restaurant is inside. The service is always focused on the guests and makes you feel comfortable. The food was also A1. I would especially recommend the tartare.

Nice location with a view of the Rhine. Service very friendly and attentive. We ordered tapas variations. That's twice 4 small plates of delicious tapas. Good quality. Would have liked to try the pulpo. Price too high for 8 small plates for two. Chf 44 per person. Everything was good except for the price. It might be worth ordering the tapas individually next time.

No...we found this establishment on the net...noted open until midnight. We travel 30 minutes to get there. Arrival at 8:30 p.m. We are informed that today....they have decided to close early and that the kitchen is cleaned...it is not possible to have any food or drinks. False advertising and big disappointment

Very tasty and very pleasant atmosphere

The waiter was very pleasant and helpful at all times. The regular tapas…. There was no one who could put the feira octopus in their mouth because it was so spicy, it looked more like octopus in hell and without potatoes. The eggplant books were very good. The Cabrales mushrooms were jarred and mini-sized, and the Cabrales sauce was not salty, the next thing. But the views are spectacular. The vegetable fritters were good.

A great place with a wonderful view of the Rhein, very very good food done with love and great service. I always go for a tapas variety, allowing myself to be surprised by the dishes. Offers also somd cultural events and concerts to make a perfect experience!

The food is great and the waiter who speaks Spanish is awesome and super friendly, don't think about it, eat there.

Very good restaurant which I can only recommend. The good view of the Rhine and the friendly and attentive staff complete the whole thing.

The setting is nice with a view of the Rhine and the tapas were varied and good. The staff is professional and friendly. The only very personal downside is that a live pianist for musical entertainment is a good idea in general, but when attendance and noise are high, it only adds to the cacophony (and that must be depressing for the pianist)

Really really bad. I am from Spain and I can say this is way below average. The meatballs were still frozen inside. The quantity was small. Variety of tapas not enough. We were a big group and honestly speaking, almost everyone complained and ask me what I my opinion was. And kept saying the same: very low quality, way below average. Don’t go!

The tapas are absolutely delicious... the prices are normal for Switzerland, so not exactly cheap. But quality comes at a cost. I found it very, very tasty with a great view of the Rhine

The best thing to start with: the friendly service and the proximity to the Rhine! The food was tasty but a bit expensive for the portions. It also seems to be a place for the business community, many "after work drinks" observed. :)

Great place to go on a Monday! It was my brother's birthday and we were spoiled with cold & hot tapas - all explained beautifully by the waiter. We woke up with a slight headache and lots of great memories ;-)

Completely overpriced food. E.g. 5 bored mini artichokes for > 7.—. They were tasty but the price was exorbitant. The staff was very friendly but all Corona rules were ignored. Far too many customers standing around the bar without any distance. Certificates were also not checked

Unfortunately, apart from San Miguel and Estrella Galicia, no Spanish beers...a shame. There are a lot of good microbreweries in Madrid, Barcelona and especially the Basque Country.

Very friendly and competent service. We took the tapas for three people and found the house selection fantastic. We were also given great advice on drinks (apero, wine). Finally, we recommend the Crema Catalana 👍 We would like to come again!

Great welcome, very warm. Beautiful view of the Rhine - and magnificent rainbow that evening! For our group of 6 people, we were offered an assortment of cold and then hot tapas. Small downside, there was not always one room per person. Very well recommended for wines.

Although I was already quite drunk, I dare to say that I have visited one of the best restaurants in Basel. The waiter was extremely friendly and it was fun to be served by him. Not much needs to be said about the food, it was simply brilliant. We couldn't believe how much we were served. A dream!

Das Don Pincho hat während der Corona Pause nicht geschlafen. Neues Ambiente mit tollen Deckenventilatoren wunderschän mit dem Blick auf den Rhein. Der Wein immer noch auf einem absoluten top Level und alle Tapas sorgfältig mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Der Service: 1 A!!! einfach alles überzeugend!!!

Immer wieder gut ! Bitte hungrig kommen und 5 - 8 warme Tapas bestellen .... Dazu ein paar gute Gläschen .... und ihr fühlt euch wie es sein soll .

La comida no está mal. Tienen la opción de pedir un surtido de tapas (tienen varios a escoger) que está bien de precio y es bastante variado. Eso sí, la tortilla de patatas es cualquier cosa menoa tortilla de patatas, en serio... desde cuando la tortilla de patata se hace en el horno 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nos encanta venir aquí. Las tapas son increíblemente buenas y hay muchas para elegir. El personal es extremadamente amable y sabe de lo que está hablando. Sí, es mucho dinero, pero para ser justos, ¡la comida merece la pena! Agregar la vista lo convierte en uno de los mejores restaurantes de la ciudad, definitivamente las mejores tapas de la ciudad.

Ambiente tranquillo e riservato, dove il mix tra ottimo cibo e ottimo vino di sicuro ne è un punto di forza .

An einem Donnerstag Abend um 19.30. Restaurant zu 60% belegt, angenehme Atmosphäre, sehr freundlicher Kellner, konnten den Tisch selber auswählen, auf Wunsch auch eine 2. Menuekarte bekommen (pro Gast eine finde ich eigentlich normal). Wir bestellten insgesamt 6 Tapas plus Oliven plus Feigenbrot 1 Fl. Wein, den Ribera del Duero gabs, leider nicht, dann also den Hauswein. Die Oliven und das Brot kamen relativ rasch, auf die Tapas mussten wir sage und schreibe 55 Minuten warten. Da gabs auch keinen Hinweis nach der Häfte der Zeit, oder ein sorry in Form eines Digestivs am Schluss o.ä.Die Qualität der Tapas konnte leider nicht überzeugen. Setas, Pulpo, Hackfleischbällchen, alles irgendwie belanglos gewürzt. Einzig die Croquetas Fisch und Gemüse waren lecker. Die Portionen empfanden wir als sehr klein, wahrscheinlich auch deshalb, weil wir nach fast einer Stunde Wartezeit super Hunger hatten... Schade, ein gemütliches Lokal mit toller Rheinsicht aber trotzdem kein Grund für uns wiederzukommen...

Leckere Tapas als in der Stadt. Besserer Service und aufmerksame Kellner. Die Atmosphäre ist nicht ganz so gut, aber mit Blick auf den Fluss, das macht das wieder wett.

Je suis venu dans ce bar un lundi soir avec ma mère pour passer un bon moment en famille. Nous étions plus qu'agréablement surpris. D'abord par l'accueil chaleureux du personnel (Jenny tu es la meilleure! Ne change rien :) ), ainsi que l'ambiance conviviale.Nous avons gouté la sangria (qui est trop bonne !) et aux tapas délicieux au poulet. Je sais déjà que je vais revenir. Je recommande fortement ce bar à Bâle au bord du Rhin !
