ESSE in Winterthur

As always, great music. Unfortunately, today I was treated more unfriendly and snippy by the bartender/co-owner than I have ever experienced in my life. It's a shame about a great concept and a great location.

Was there for the third time - if there was the title of unfriendly bartender in Switzerland, the good co-owner would be among the top three. The man has probably missed the job. It's a shame, because the restaurant and event concept is good. But I don't bring any money to a place where you feel the crap when entertaining guests.

I was happy to be there again for the Crocls concert

Beautiful insider venue for fans of club music. Reservation is required. Beautiful bar and fine cuisine suitable for sharing a meal with friends and family. A Bourique event location.

A cool concept! Live music and bar service plus simple dishes from tarte flambée to schnitzel with fries. Thomas and Thomas run the store with a lot of commitment and humor! Thanks!

Bartender goes out of his way to show his power over the guests. Working quickly during concert breaks seems to be a foreign concept. Guest friendliness is not given

Great location and a great performance from the musicians ;-) The host at the bar leaves a lot to be desired today, apparently it wasn't his day......

Absolutely cool team, if you want to have a party then this is the place.

You have to look for such unfriendly service for a long time.

A very nice restaurant - not to be compared to the old place - but still charming. We only drank something and ate something small. Both were flawless!

Also in the Armory: Great atmosphere with three live acts a week. Easily accessible by public transport and the insider tip with the whiskey sour still applies. It's always worth a visit, especially if you like live music.

Good blues band, funny speech from the restaurant owner, uncomplicated atmosphere.

It was cozy and the drinks were mixed perfectly for our taste. Coffee Luz and Espresso Coretto 😋👍🏻 Unfortunately, payment with crypto is not possible. As soon as that is possible, there will be the 5th star 😜😎😁

Edit now 4*: new location 2021: I like it better now than before and still have great connections to public transport. Quite a good bar selection...beer, wine, etc Cool, small location with a great opportunity to see young artists perform.

Ab und zu spielt mal wieder eine gute Jazz Band in der ESSE. Der Barkeeper ist leider extrem unfreundlich, besonders jüngerem Publikum gegenüber.

Leider ist der eine Tom meistens unfreundlich. Es tut mir Leid, ich bin nur Gast. Sonst guter Club mit spezieller und guter Musik. Schöne Ambiente

Die ESSE Musicbar ist eifach super.

Super Konzertlokal in einem historischen Gebäude. Hier gibt viel gute Musik. Der Barkeeper ist mit "Nichtstammgästen" nicht sehr freundlich.

The place is a very cozy and intimate bar, which allows to really listen to the band playing, and no chit chat whatsoever. The featured artists consist of mostly local, but also some international musicians and lets the audience pay for them in full. They have a cute, but well stocked bar and the two blokes running it are not only caring, attentive hosts, but also characters in their own right, with plenty stories to tell, if asked. You can eat dinner with the musicians before the gig, upon prior request, and you'll get to meet some of Winterthur's Jazz Fans, or just be alone, if you choose to. Bands play mosty unplugged, the lost star concerns the overall audio quality, which could be better, and sometimes strange, overexposed lighting of the scene. Esse Musik Bar is still a great place for music fans, a couples' quiet night out and also all those 'dabbling' in Jazz.

Tolle konzerte, cooles ambiente

Sicherlich eine aussergewöhnliche Adresse mit ausgewählten musikalischen Acts - und nicht zwingend Mainstream. Die Raumeinteilung ist für Konzerte leider nicht optimal, der Eingang am falschen Ort. Dafür ist der Sound überraschend gut. Das Getränkeangebot ist vielfältig und regional, der Service hinter der Bar nicht auskunftsfreudig und semi-herzlich. Unbedingt mit der Bahn anreisen. Ist nur 4 Minuten vom Hauptbahnhof Winterthur entfernt.

Not too many places like this in Wintherthur! Go check it out!

Fantastisches Jazz Konzert mit den Lido Boys. Feine Imbiss Angebote. Relativ schwierig zu finden. Wer sucht der findet. Idyllische Bar. Ein Besuch lohnt sich.

Super nette Barkeeper in der Esse Bar ,fantastisches essen und natürlich ein tolles konzert le son du vent , wir drei kommen sicher wieder.

Atmosphäre & Gestaltung der Bar sind schön, der Barkeeper ist jedoch eine Zicke.

Regelmässig coole Musik. Ich bin meist bei Blues dabei.

Ambiente wäre sehr gemütlich; aber die Gastgeber sind schnoddrig, unfreundlich; parteiisch sogar- es scheint so, nur als Gönner von der Esse sei dir ein Lächeln gewährt

Amazing for live concerts which they hold regularly. Bit difficult to find, but you don't wanna leave again. Specially in winter times when the oven is on
