We went there on Saturday. We had disrespectful staff welcoming us.

The red curry and Thai fried rice was out of this world!!! Best Thai food I have eaten in a while! The ambiance is really nice too!

Good Thai restaurant in Zurich. Taste as it should be for Thai food. Spicy and rich favor from the herb also chili. You can ask for level of spiciness. Easy to access from Tram station and closed to COOP. Credit card accepted. Staffs really helpful for menu selection.

Best Thai restaurant in Zurich, I've been eating there for 16 years

The first Thai restaurant that was not flexible to prepare chicken massaman since they just prepare it with beef. The pieces of meat were too big. The papaya salad was great, it has less taste of oyster sauce as usual, which is good. The Satay sticks were also fine, the sauce it’s not the common peanut sauce you get. And the suggestion of the house, the duck, was really good (I would prepare it less sweet) but it was tasty.

The meat dish for one person was so large that it was enough for two people. We therefore ordered the meat dish with rice twice, but we had to take half of it with us and it was a shame that no information was given about it. The taste of the food was just average. Compared to the restaurant opposite, 'Liliy's Factory', I can't recommend it.

We came to the restaurant at one of the hottest evenings in Zurich's history and they don't have AC. It was steaming hot and we suffered all the way through. Hopefully, this isn't the case if/when you arrive. The food is very tasty and spicy as described in the menu. The Chef does have a problem with salt though as the different currys where way too salty (not the Satay skewers though which were lovely).

Nice location and ambience. The food itself was too low effort/dissapointung in my opinion and felt like something anyone makes at home. Tofu is not pre-treated and just put in the curry, overall not very rich in vegetables, sauces rather bland in favour, asked for very spicy and it was not spicy, and a bit liquid. If you don't want shrimp paste, the selection is super limited. Could benefit from marking vegetarian dishes. Service ok, Portion size was generous.

I would walk in and have lunch because I really wanted to eat Thai food. But when I walked in, I was not impressed. I really didn't know that the restaurant was closed in the afternoon and saw that there were people eating, so I walked in. But I received an unsatisfying notification (gesture) that the shop was closed.

The best thai food in Zurich. Perfect portion sizes. We ordered the 2 person shared entree, which included 2 sate chicken skewers, 2 spring rolls, 2 fried prawns, 2 potato/noodle wrapped fried prawns and 2 gyoza. Also ordered a main of chicken curry and the food was delicious. Next time we are in zurich, we will eat here again!

Good menu for lunch, nice staff

We regularly order from Five Spice, but unfortunately the quality of the food has declined massively in the last few months. Little meat, watery sauces and the meat was always tough. At these prices I expect top quality, otherwise I might as well eat at Suan Long.

Save your money and time! Food is low quality, service is mediocre barely understanding german nor english. On top of that they are not environmental nor animal friendly as they use a new plastic box for every dog and charge it at the end. Last but not least the inside is dark and stinky. Better go to Lily's across the street!

By far my favourite place to have Thai food in Zurich. The prices used to be quite reasonable as well, making it even better than others. Rarely I found that the food was not good, but then if I go there and have same set of items, I will find the difference from day-to-day. So, this cannot be a cmplaint. 5 stars for you.

Disappointing that no meat comes from CH/D. The menu declares: chicken & duck from Thailand, beef from Uruguay, fish and seafood from Vietnam. So we took the vegetable version. However, NO vegetables were authentic for a Thai curry (cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, zucchini). In terms of taste, you can definitely find something better. Wouldn't come back and unfortunately can't recommend it.

As malaysian craving food from home I have to say that this is by far the best, most authentic Thai in Zurich. Must have is the Pad Prig King. I keep coming back since almost 8 years now and the quality has always remained the same. Love you guys!!

With the large selection of fine dishes, you can easily sit down here more often. A special highlight is “Chu Chi Pla”: This house specialty serves a whole fish in a fiery, spicy sauce with lots of vegetables and rice. A dream! In general, the food here is solid and consistently good. A safe value and always a pleasure! The portions are generous and most dishes can also be ordered vegetarian. A well-rehearsed team of friendly hosts always makes our visit to Five Spice a wonderful experience for us.

As a Thai, I am utterly disappointed to find another Thai restaurant serving 'compromised' dishes as authentic Thai food. I would not have complained at all, had this been presented as Thai-style or Thai-inspired cuisines--at least, I would have anticipated what I was getting. The ingredients required as part of the dishes were skimped or removed to pare down the cost at the expense of their character. Take Nam Tok Nue (spicy beef salad): it was sweet, nutty, spicy, and the beef chewy, when the dish should have demonstrated a balance of spiciness, fresh acidity of limes, umami-laden fish sauce, and aromatic-herbaceous-tinted toasty rice powder. For Pla Sam Rod (fried fish topped with sweet-sour-spicy gravy), the fish was deep-fried to perfection, but alas, the gravy, which was the highlight, left much to be desired. The generic, cookie-cutter chicken dip diluted with tamarind infusion substitutes for the much anticipated flavours of fried garlic, chopped corianders, tamarind juice, fish sauce, and fresh chilis. It should not have been called such. As for Nue Pad Prik Khing (stir-fried beef with ginger and chili), it added insults to injuries. I mistook it for a coconut milk-based curry at first glimpse. The supposed signature dryness of the dish was replaced by a soggy, greasy overdose of coconut milk and the immediately recognisable ready-made red curry paste. The piquancy of bird eye chilis coupled with the sweet gingerbread nuance of cooked julienned gingers? None to be found. The tragic beef was stir-fried to bone-dry stiffness. Even if this dish were named as something else, the consistency and the preparation of the beef would still not pass the bar of the most basic street food cooking skills in Thailand. I do not believe that these three simple dishes would have gone catastrophically wrong, had they not tried to cut corners with the ingredients to make more profit. There are other restaurants like the Lemongrass (only at the Limmatstrasse 199 branch), Roi Et, or Jao Praya, which are of the same price range or less expensive but offer full-on, sincere Thai cuisine without skimping or cutting ingredients at the expense of the food. For sure, many who are used to the ubiquity of Thai restaurants abroad offering such corner-cutting dishes will be delighted to find a familiar flavour palette in a cosy setting. But, I--and many Thais--will not attempt to seek out Five Spice for authentic Thai flavours. Even then, I would rather patronise a fusion establishment like Lily's that surprisingly offers hearty dishes close to what one would find in average streetfood trolleys in Thailand.
