Gasthaus Löwen in Tuggen

As can be seen from the stars, there is hardly any reason for criticism. Except a bit loud. It's also up to the guests if you have to listen to conversations from three tables away.

Everything is just TOP! Dogs are also very welcome.

We were at the Gasthaus Löwen for the first time on a Friday evening and as soon as we were greeted we felt very welcome. The restaurant is warm and inviting and there are so many lovely little details to discover. The entire service team is very attentive and present in the restaurant in a great way and does everything to make the guests feel comfortable. To my great surprise, we were served a great amuse bouche (parsnip soup), along with great sourdough bread and truffle butter! and very good olive oil - WOW, I didn't expect that. 😍 Our starters and main course from the hot stone were great. With every plate you can feel the passion of the kitchen brigade for their job and the attention to detail. We would be happy to come back very soon and in the meantime we will recommend the lion to our friends!

Beautiful restaurant, very high quality food, good value for money

Parking in front of the house, can be tight at peak times. Table reservation by phone or homepage. Great ambience, modern with warmth in the room. Table chairs not optimally coordinated, seats too deep. Classic meat from the hot stone, my selection of beef fillet Men's Cut 250g with oven-roasted vegetables, Yveline's hot sauce, an absolute hit. As a smoker there is a great mood to linger in. The price for what you get is justified. Gladly for a new one.

Solid ambience, service and quality but unfortunately still not satisfactory - especially given the rather high prices. Food: Starter: Salad bowl is way too big - can easily serve 2 people (and we are good eaters). The salad dressing was rather bland and you can't choose between French/Italian. Main course: Lamb tenderloin (45 Fr/200 g) from the hot stone comes to the table already well-cooked - a shame for the good piece. Sauces were also rather bland. Cordon bleu comes out of the deep fryer. Fried potatoes still a bit too crunchy. Dessert: Limited menu - which is also different in the restaurant than it is online (since the password for the website is apparently not available). After ordering, we were informed that there was no vanilla ice cream left (extraordinarily high demand the two days before - in January...), which is why we were able to cancel and forego 2 of 4 desserts. Beverages: Wine: good selection, rather more expensive level Beer: limited selection, only Feldschschlösschen/Moretti, no local beers Service staff nice but underqualified: rather hectic, forgetful, inattentive. It was only after we had paid that we noticed by chance in conversation that the wine had not been charged. In addition, the “offered” coffee was still charged. Oh well.... Unfortunately, given the price level, I can't recommend this location.

Ambiance is very cozy, dignified and makes you feel good. The renovation was absolutely successful. Bravo! The service seemed very overwhelmed and incompetent. It was not possible for four people to take the entire order; two were served two by two (apero drinks). After three people had finished eating but the fourth hadn't, it was still cleared away. The menu on the homepage was not up to date at the time. The food was good, but for this price range the overall result leaves a lot to be desired.

New and very nice restaurant in the village of Tuggen. The atmosphere is refreshingly modern and you feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, the tables are a bit close to each other, so you have to whisper if you don't want your neighbor to hear the entire conversation. Furthermore, the chairs are too deep for the table. Or the table is too high. The heights of the furniture do not match each other. The chair guest feels uncomfortable here if he is not at least 180cm tall. The food was good. Fresh and sufficient. The card is not exceptional, but clearly attractive. The staff seemed friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I still have to point out that the ventilation should be improved. A few guests ordered meat from the hot stone. And afterwards the place smelled strongly of grease. I had to air out my clothes, including my jacket, in the fresh air overnight. Everything just isn't quite good yet and I still wish there were a few things that could be improved.

01.11.22 Attention: since the star chef and his team were replaced, I can no longer guarantee my statement below! Simply WOW!, WOW and WOW again!! The Löwen inn in Tuggen was restored and reopened a few days ago. Nice and cozy atmosphere, nice lounge to enjoy a cigar and the service staff is super attentive and friendly. But the special praise goes to the kitchen... these Spaniards, Argentinians and Italians are simply fantastic!!! Please remove the meat from the hot stone from the menu! These guys in the kitchen offer a lot better!!! Hasta pronto compañeros...

The restaurant is located in the heart of Tuggen and is easily accessible by public transport or car. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. The menu selection isn't huge, but there's definitely something for everyone. The food is tasty and good value for money. The Lion attaches great importance to cooking regionally and seasonally. It's all very nicely presented. The atmosphere is very pleasant both in the restaurant and on the terrace.

We were warmly welcomed. Everything outside was occupied, but that didn't matter to us. We sat inside on really comfortable armchairs and the light in particular contributed a lot to the cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is very stylishly decorated. The staff was attentive, quick and friendly. My highlight was the Spanish salad as a starter. This really tasted excellent. Everything else was of course also very fine. I can definitely recommend the restaurant.

A friendly welcome in the stylish and comfortably furnished restaurant raised our expectations. The meat quality was also okay. You can give stars for that. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right. The weight information on the menu would have been better left off. The side dish (linth corn polenta and vegetables) for the braised beef was also simply not enough at a maximum of 2 tablespoons. In addition, the vegetables mentioned (carrot pieces) were already contained in this amount of polenta. However, after a complaint was made, it was followed up. The service didn't seem particularly competent and rather unprofessional. Veal and beef could not be distinguished when served. A splash guard for the clothes was apparently forgotten when serving meat on the stone (only with us). The sauce side dishes were served incorrectly. After a complaint, the food was not served again but was exchanged among the guests. This even though some of them had already eaten it. Although people asked whether that was okay, one would expect that such a question would not even arise. When serving wine in this price range, a drip catcher would also have been beneficial. We were disappointed and therefore skipped the coffee and dessert. Maybe we were just unlucky, otherwise the review should be viewed as constructive criticism.

Were there for dinner. Really tasty, comes to the table hot and the service is very attentive! Great, we'll be back! :)
