Gasthaus St. Meinrad in Einsiedeln

After a hike we just wanted to have something to drink there, we were told it was lunchtime and realized we weren't welcome. Then we left again. It's a shame that drinking is only offered with food at lunchtime.

Everything fresh from the region and always freshly prepared can only be recommended

Actually quite nice and good food, but the service is a disaster: first we had to organize the menu ourselves, then it took another 15 minutes to order, another 30 minutes to get the starter and another 30 minutes to get the main course after threatening to finally leave came. I've rarely experienced such chaos - and I can't accept the excuse that it's Sunday: you know the weather and how many people usually come... sorry, but that was probably my last visit up there. A pity! Definitely not recommended!

One of our favorite restaurants. With varied expenses and nice, courteous staff. Especially when the weather is nice on the garden terrace with a great view into the distance.

We came for a dinner evening. Had our apero outside in the terasse. We were lucky with the weather. What a great view you have. So nice. Then we had dinner inside. Great, tasty dishes. Also good choice of vegetarian dishes. And also great wines. Service friendly and attentive. Thx.

I recently enjoyed a vegetarian 3-course menu with accompanying wines at the Gasthaus St. Meinrad with friends on the occasion of our birthdays. There's hardly a better way to celebrate your birthday. We were and are thrilled.

All in all, I'm unfortunately disappointed with this restaurant. The service was okay, very friendly but not the best. Had to wait quite a long time for drinks. When the waitress brought the drinks, she deposited them on the neighboring table, served half of the drinks and then went to another table to take orders. A few minutes later she realized that she hadn't served everything and brought us the rest. We waited 45 minutes for the starter. For starters we had a beef tartare and salad with garlic bread. We ordered the beef tartare medium. Unfortunately, the tartare really had no taste, you could almost say that it was tasteless. There was no noticeable sharpness either. The salad with bacon was okay, but the dressing and bacon were too bland for me personally. The garlic bread was really great! Our son had a children's burger, unfortunately it was rather limited in quantity for an 8 year old. The main course was a lot better. In terms of taste, there wasn't really anything to complain about in the main course, which is what I expected for 44.50 Fr. I had the feeling that the atmosphere among the employees wasn't the best. As the waitress took our order, another employee came over and handed her some receipts and they spoke briefly. The waitress reacted angrily to the employee and no one was interested in the fact that I interrupted me during the ordering process to give her the receipts. I also noticed an older lady who worked there getting upset with another employee. I understand that they may have been stressed, but they can sort that out backstage and not in front of the guests. Unfortunately, since my expectations were not met, I can't give it more than 3 stars. Best regards

No justification for the extreme expensive prices comparing to the size of the dish/the amount of food you receive. The main feature of this place is its location but inside the restaurant you'll not see much/not much view available.. The staff were nice.

We got a special 5-course menu, super tasty and beautifully prepared, view from above into the Hammer valley, service staff very attentive, but unfortunately the EC terminal does not yet accept a debit card from .comdirect

I only worked there for a few days. And everything was great and cool and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful.

We didn't stay in a hotel or eat. We drove past and saw a beautiful view, so we parked and walked around to look at the area. It was very beautiful. I really liked it and would go again and go again. 👍👍👍👏🇨🇭

The food was delicious, I ordered the burger and a burrata with pasta. It took a long time to bring the food but it was worth the wait.

A double wow for the whole evening! During the aperitif, we were warmly greeted by Christian and his "wife" in beautiful weather and were then treated to fruity, local monastic white wine and the extremely fine rosé sparkling wine, accompanied by homemade garlic bread and fine Pimientos de Padron. St. Meinrad will hardly have enjoyed the Riesling soup made from monastery wine with Einsiedler Hobelfleisch crispy bag followed by the tenderest meat cooked sous vide for 24 hours, but his presence was somehow noticeable in the beautifully renovated rooms, or was it the wine that already had its effect? In any case, the atmosphere was very comfortable and that was also due to the excellent service from the staff, Elisa and Tatiana. I noticed how patient and friendly they were, as well as us and the children, making the food and drinks tasty and still having time for a humorous saying. There was never a rush and we really enjoyed that. Many thanks to everyone, including Christian, who finally introduced us to his chef and shared with us the excellent Tempranillo from the Salmanazar bottle (9 lt).

Since I have a gluten intolerance and a lactose intolerance, I am always skeptical in restaurants. When I mentioned this when ordering it wasn't a problem. I got a baked roll (gluten-free). The butter is lactose-free for everyone. Food was super tasty. The meat comes from the region. We were there with our dog, which wasn't a problem. Our dog was warmly greeted and even given treats. Come again!

What a nice, beautiful restaurant they have here. Very friendly staff and what you order is fantastic to see and especially taste. We cannot say anything about the inn itself as we only had a great walk through the snow (which had fallen "freshly" on April 2 🇨🇭🌨⛄). Beautiful walking routes in the area, which unfortunately we were unable to walk completely due to the snow. Beautiful town of Einsiedeln nearby with an abbey that you must see 👀 in short, what stops you from staying here? ❤

We've eaten here a few times (also with friends) or just had a drink on the terrace. Good food and friendliness are very important at St. Meinrad!! Depending on how busy the place is, it's a bit loud, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. We always enjoy being guests here!
