Gasthof Kreuz in Egerkingen

If you are there, then you are there. If you want to leave, you stay there and when you leave, you want to go back. Here is the man, man, the food, more than a meal and the service, bringing more than a plate to the table. My recommendation: go and understand my lines!

The room has a great price/performance ratio. Nothing was missing, very clean, quiet and pleasant. Where can you stay overnight for two people for CHF 135? As usual, the hosts were very nice and accommodating. We would love to come back to the cross.

I was invited to lunch on business, the service was excellent and very accommodating. There was no vegan lunch menu and individual requests were still taken into account. I was given a vegan menu that was very tasty. The prices are a bit high, but it's definitely worth it. I wish the portions were slightly larger in the future, but all in all it was a really tasty experience.

Location was good and the food was tasty, but the price wasn't worth it for me. I think it's nonsense to only serve meat and sell the side dishes separately. There is also a tablespoon full of spaetzle for an additional charge of 3.00 and 1 liter of tap water costs a whopping 9.00, there would have been more. Unfortunately the wine we ordered was forgotten and there were long waiting times. For the price, I expect more service and more lavish side dishes.

We didn't know the restaurant before. What a surprise. The service was very good and the dish, Turf&Surf, was phenomenal. This dish can't be topped! You won't be disappointed here and we can recommend it more than 100%. Bravo! Everything done right 😀

Very good restaurant with excellent service, you immediately felt like you were in good hands and the food and dessert were a delight!! Big compliments to the kitchen and definitely try the Prosecco from Armani.

First the positive, the Chateaubriant was excellent! The service from the trainee waiter must be praised, he worked with style and was always concerned about us, great! But when he had to leave, the waitress took over, who didn't work so professionally. A pity. As far as the price/performance is concerned, I think it's excessive to only offer meat for CHF 52. We had to order the ingredients separately. Unfortunately the wine didn't match the food, my mistake, but appropriate advice would have been nice. The restaurant is very nice. The atmosphere would have been good, but the Jass group was out of place. The back room isn't a pub! Conclusion: We paid a lot of money and we also had to wait a lot. I don't think we'll be able to come back anymore, it's a shame!

Nothing wrong with the food. Service friendly but very inattentive and overwhelmed, with little utilization. Won't be coming back. Unfortunately, price/performance is not guaranteed.

The two of us ate the 6-course menu Sureprise. There was also a greeting from the kitchen. We didn't receive much attention from the service. We were only asked for the main course if it tasted good. We had to actively ask for wine and other drinks because there wasn't really any motivation to sell or advertise them. We would have liked a wine pairing with this menu. There is no longer. A pity! The food was good. The soup with the porcini mushroom dumplings was very bland and visually you might have other thoughts. Price per person was CHF 122 without drinks. We were allowed to sit in the beautiful garden on the warm summer night.

Caterer at a wedding on September 9th, 2023 I have rarely experienced such a professional, friendly and well-positioned team as at this wedding. They were very attentive but not intrusive. It was just great. The food was to die for. I really liked the soup and the potato gratin😍 Many thanks to the whole team👍🏼

One of my husband's business trips took him to the Gasthof Kreuz. The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff were sensational 🔝🔝🔝 The location is excellent. The room was very small but clean. The dinner (Cesars salad) was very good👍. The ambience is decorated with great attention to detail...👌

We were there for a business lunch (lunch), table reserved in advance for 11:45 a.m. It was only after a good half an hour that we were even presented with the menu and the menu, the food came about 1 hour 15 minutes after we sat down, around 1:08 p.m. One of us had to leave again, he had to finish his meal in a hurry. No more time for dessert or coffee. Unfortunately, not everyone has 2-2.5 hours for lunch on a working day. Extremely slow and this wasn't the first time. The food is good, but nothing special, so it's a bit overpriced.

Have on August 3rd. Had a wonderful dinner in the Kreuz in the evening. Great service, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Gladly again, only recommended.

The location of this small hotel is strategic as it is quite central in Switzerland. We meet to hold meetings. What I like are the dishes they serve. Lunch and dinner are really good. Dishes (from the small salad to the most elaborate dish) always prepared with great care and love for detail. I can say the same about how the table is set and their service, always loving and individual! I really enjoy staying with them!

The room we booked was extremely small, the toilet and shower were in the hallway. No breakfast. The toilet was cleaned once in the week we were there and the waste was emptied in the shower???? There is probably still shower detergent from the last 10 guests today and, extremely disgustingly, a washcloth. Descent and not worth even the cheap price

We had a baptismal dinner for our grandchild. Everything was very good, except that the food for the 12 children was served way too late. It would have been appropriate for the first course (salad).

The cross was an institution under Louis Bischofberger. We were his guests for many years and were always satisfied. Since the change nothing has been the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it is. Today we wanted to go out to eat at 8:15 p.m. and the kitchen had already packed up. Completely incomprehensible on a holiday. You can still offer the small menu, salad and so on. We decided to go again because it wasn't the first time. After the change, we had the opportunity to test the kitchen several times. Unfortunately, it is actually the case that the quality has steadily declined. Some strange creations that don't fit together at all. We've tried it from time to time for nostalgic reasons, but it's just not fun anymore. What has remained is the friendliness of the waitresses. Unfortunately, that alone is not enough.

The food and service are top. But what is very irritating is that you pay over Fr.9 per liter for normal water. And we found the price of F. 75.- for a small bottle of wine (5dl.) to be a rip-off. The price was not shown on the menu and we were not informed. AW.

The food was good, but nothing special, but the prices were very expensive even for Swiss prices. 10 Francs for 1 litte of tap water is ridiculous. We ordered a small bottle of average Red wine and the cost was 75 Swiss Francs??? The worst thing is they dont show the prices of the wine on the wine card. When we complained about the prices the waitress didnt really seen interested. This is the last restaurant I would visit in Switzerland. Never Again…

The food is excellent, as is the ambience. The attention and support used to be excellent, but is now good. There was little question about health. It also bothered the four of us that today we were only allowed to choose the menu from the blackboard and were not allowed to see the menu. All in all, this inn can be highly recommended. We think of coming back.

Business lunch reserved for 5 people. Reception, service and farewell were very attentive and friendly. Daily menu selection was appropriate, so no à la carte selection was necessary. The quality of the food was very good and the service was adequate over time.
