Very fine food, not exactly cheap. Service great, personal but not intrusive. In the cultivation area, winter is not as warm as in the living room inside.

The view is amazing, I love this place. The service is very friendly and the coffee is good, I can't write more about it. But definitely recommended.

As always, good food and a very pleasant atmosphere despite the storm up there. We'll be happy to come back.

The restaurant appears to be closed due to ongoing construction. At least there was no one on the patio on the Tuesday afternoon that I visited. Glad I had a one franc coin to climb the tower. It was so windy at the top I feared for my sunglasses and hat.

You're currently eating on a construction site. The view is nice but the food didn't meet my expectations in any way and the bowl of fries with the sausage cheese salad makes a price difference of a whopping 8 francs

A wonderful place to relax, with a fantastic view. An ideal excursion destination.

While hiking in the area, we stopped at this restaurant and we were wonderfully welcomed despite our muddy shoes and wet hiking clothes 😄 Dogs were accepted and even welcomed with a small bowl of water, really nice! We have rarely seen a service with such lovely, friendly and caring people. We order beers and cordon bleu, and we are informed that it will take a little time because it takes a little time to cook but always with a lot of kindness, bringing us a small plate of fries to share to keep us waiting. The cordon bleu and its vegetables were incredibly good!! The small desserts and coffee were also super good. We had a great time and we will definitely come back!

We weren't in the "Beiz" but at this fantastic viewing point right behind it. I'm happy to give it five stars. Don't forget a pair of binoculars. This means you can almost look into the windows of the planes approaching the airport. The restaurant itself also seems to be quite busy; especially the local sauce. Before that, however, there is a lot of cultivation. But that doesn't spoil the charm of this place.

Completely dangerous: There are no barriers in front of the rocky abyss.

The restaurant is under renovation, which has no impact on the polite service and the excellent quality of the food. The view from the terrace is unique in the Basel area.

One of our favorite places - small menu but excellent cuisine with lots of regional ingredients. But the best thing is the service staff - I don't know any location with such friendly people. Keep it up…👍👍👍

Even though there is currently a construction site, I can heartily recommend the Gempenturm mountain restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was very friendly and accommodating, and despite there being a lot of people there weren't long waiting times. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The price-performance ratio is balanced and fair. For a Sunday or holiday like today's Pentecost Sunday, we as a small group of 10 people were happy that we had made a reservation. Definitely worth a visit.

Here you can eat simple traditional Swiss food with a great addition of some excellent veggie options. The staff really make this place as they are extremely warm, attentive, and friendly! The perfect place to warm up after a chilly hike.

Was there for dinner with 25 people. Everyone received their food at the same time. Nevertheless, there were many guests there. Class.

We went to the restaurant today (October 30, 2022) for a pre-ordered lunch. After 1 1/2 hours the food came. My cordon bleu was small and dry without the usual cheese and at this price! Not recommendable. The venison pepper was good but with 3 pieces of meat it was far too little. One star is too many

Regional ingredients are very important. The cuisine is excellent. The service was very funny and accommodating.

A really nice view to linger. You can eat well and drink coffee in the restaurant. Also recommended for a short day trip with the family. We walked from Liestal, about 2.5 hours to the Gempenturm. But you can also take the bus. This leaves from Gempen Dorf. Feel free to follow me on my profile for more exciting places.

Traditional restaurant with a great view, rustic ambience - had a bit of a school camp feel. Friendly staff - tried hard. Food was OK. Unfortunately, the cheese fondue sat in my stomach all day, and wine was very prominent. I would have liked some bread selection

Was there today with my husband. After a long hike, we really wanted to have something to eat and drink in this restaurant. Unfortunately in vain. We waited for service for 15 minutes at a table that wasn't even cleaned (used dishes were still there). 3 different service people walked past us 8 times. Waving didn't help either, I thought we were invisible. We didn't even get eye contact or a greeting. Then we just left again. It's a shame, so I won't be coming back.

😉😉😉Great excursion tip with the Vello or e-bike or motorbike or hiking at the Gempen tower or Gempen restaurant. There is always something going on. Great view and lots of hiking trails and barbecue, ideal for family or just a spontaneous trip plan. It's 100% worth paying a visit 😉😉😉

With a friendly staff, delicious food and a great view; the Bärgbeiz has much to offer. In the down side, the restaurant is rather old and dilapidated and the surrounding forested area sees a lot of usage. It hasn't been very well maintained. If you're looking for a good destination for your weekend outings, consider checking this gem in the rough out.

200 gr of veal. It was a dream, so tender and simply brilliant. And side dish wow I'm going again just to eat this menu. I don't care about the view...grin

Only recommended on a Sunday lunchtime if you are resistant to children's noise. The restaurant was full, family gatherings, kids at every table. This meant we waited a good hour for food. On other days it's quicker. Service was friendly and quick, even under the stress of a Sunday, but the kitchen couldn't keep up with the rush. Parking lot was full on Sunday. Beautiful journey over a winding route, popular with bikers and vintage car fans. Very good food, but a bit heavy on meat. Great location for hiking and views from the walk-in tower.

At the end of a rainy fall walk, it was lovely to walk in to this warm and cozy restaurant. The food was traditional Swiss cuisine executed well and in an unfussy manner. Servers were friendly attentive. Definitely would recommend, and hope to come again soon!

Not recommended. The food on the plate was nothing to look at, and that wasn't enough, it was also bad. Schnitzel and cordon bleu too dry, spaetzli cold and bland. The beef fillet was completely messed up, probably briefly dipped in a hot water bath and served. Completely raw on the inside and gray on the outside to make it look nicer, herb butter is put on it. We sent the fillet back to the kitchen to fry, but it didn't do anything, the way it came back it was probably in the microwave for a short time. It was catastrophic. The pork schnitzel looked very strange, two small brown somethings with red cabbage, it looked terrible. Since the breaded S-schnitzel was also very dry and there was a strange breading on the meat, the whole meal was definitely not cooked by a trained chef, not even a hobby chef. We didn't have any more dessert. Three people Fr. 161.-- for something like that, very expensive, we still regret it today.

Bad service! Looking for a table with my wife and my 3-year-old son, who was holding a croissant in his hand and was not even greeted by the owner or helped to find a table, but was directly pointed out that the croissant was forbidden to eat this croissant!? It's a child! You're not worth a cent to me! Shame on you!

We once again had a very pleasant visit to the restaurant, this time with children. Competent, friendly and uncomplicated service. Great little seasonal, regional menu with fair prices. We had wild and it was awesome. The desserts are sensational.
