Lovely traditional grotto, and traditional in a good way. Classic recipes cooked to perfection, nice appetizers and dessert, friendly and experienced staff.

Definitely of quality, the wine list is impressive, the dishes are incredibly delicious, absolutely recommended!

Professional dinner for two, seated at a very large table for two. Impeccable service and a compliment to the maître de salle who advised us very well on the choice of wine. We tasted the Venetian liver with polenta: exceptional. Portions not huge, but adequate for a refined clientele. Prices commensurate with the great quality of the dishes and service

I am amazed at the many positive reviews. Food and service is average. Menu not seasonal, wine list pretty extensive. Location is nice. But when it comes to food and wine, the price is not right. Service not attentive enough for this price segment. In the main course there was a string on the plate...! The waiter responded in an explanatory and not apologetic manner. No nice gesture followed that. Gnocchetti di Ricotta were very semplice. There are better quality restaurants in Lugano and also in the slightly lower segment.

It’s ridiculous that we found this place cause our train to Milan got canceled and we had to stick around a night in Lugano. It looked cozy on the pictures, and only upon arrival did we notice it’s mention in the Bib Gourmand. And it was fantastic! From the ambience, to the suggested wine pairing, to the entire dinner and desert. I love this place.

Restaurant recommended by the Michelin guide in a very quiet area just outside the city. They always offer a classic menu, a seasonal one and a weekly one, therefore focused on fresh, seasonal and regional products. All dishes are prepared with great care and excellent raw materials. I tried the octopus which was cooked to perfection! The fish and meat second courses are also good. The environment is very beautiful with outdoor tables among huge illuminated plane trees. There are some external car parks.

Nice place. Have to be booked in advance as it is a popular place with traditional local kitchen. The speciality here is a very tender liver stripes stewed with mashed potatoes on a side.

I don't know Ticino very well, but I can't imagine that there is a much better restaurant than the grotto della salute. The menu is varied, unconventional and has many new ideas for well-known dishes. Prices are reasonable and the environment and service are exceptional. If you want to spend a wonderful evening in Lugano, you should go there.

Pasta was made perfectly and the tartar was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was quite packed during our stay.

Nestled in a quiet area, the grotto impresses upon arrival with a charming setting. The atmosphere is chic but equally welcoming. We finish feeling good with very tasty and authentic dishes, accompanied by well-chosen wines (monthly selection of open wines and extremely extensive bottle list). The service is excellent, as is often the case in the region, even for the youngest. Yes, we can say that it is not cheap in terms of prices. But we didn't feel robbed of a single cent, it was really a very nice evening.

We had dinner on Friday evening 18 October in this place, which is aesthetically very welcoming and I must say that expectations were normal. The menu was very interesting and the wine list also won us over. We were a table of 7 people. In short, everything was fine until the starter arrived, then to have the second course we had to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes between one dish and another. My 9 year olds literally fell asleep with their heads on the table. All the tables around us had finished dinner, paid and left. In short, having been placed at the back, in front of the cellar, they forgot about us. We ran out of water and had to go and call the waiter. We also finished the wine while waiting for the second one and went into the cellar alone to get another bottle because there was no sign of the waiters. To the second's requests we were told "2 minutes, he's leaving". After 1 hour we asked a new waiter what stage the kitchen was at and perhaps he was the only one who unblocked the situation because he was a little shocked that in reality we were all left without the dish ordered. Now, we must be realistic, there may be unforeseen events, but the customer has the right to transparency and not to a timid "sorry for the delay". 1 hour and 10 minutes is not late, this is a lack of respect towards customers, especially where there are 9 year olds who fall asleep at a certain point. An apology is also fine, perhaps if accompanied by a package of dessert for the children to eat in the morning, since they have fallen asleep waiting to get to the end of dinner. So, no, we won't be going back again

Our group (14 people) was in this grotto last Saturday evening. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. It wasn't tasty enough, nor was it pleasing to the eye (the eye eats too). All in all, the whole meal was reminiscent of a visit to the canteen. This is actually inexplicable, because normally you eat well in this grotto - but on Saturday it was absolutely not recommended.

Nice place, very nice in spring and summer due to the tables well positioned under their enchanting trees, unfortunately for being a Grotto the portions of the dishes are very small and I would say that the cooking of the pasta needs to be reviewed, my paccheri were a little too al dente, high prices for such limited portions.

I've been going to the Grotto for 30 years (sic). Always perfect food and service

On Saturday evenings the restaurant is full and parking spaces are scarce in the square in front. The staff welcomed us very well and took care of us, giving us comfortable accommodation even for the child. There was a bit of confusion regarding the service of the courses but the food was very good, especially the braised meat with polenta, the chickpea croquettes with turmeric mayonnaise and the dessert. I found the rabbit a little dry, the same goes for the tortelli which didn't have much stew with the snails. Wide choice of wines, bottled beers such as Feldschlösschen and Menabrea. On the table there was also salami, focaccia and excellent breadsticks; instead, chocolate biscuits were brought for coffee. There are also dishes for vegetarians and without rennet.

The grotto was closed on December 30, 2021 despite being open until 2:00 p.m. Due to renovations, it will not be open again until January 6, 2022. You can also write that on this page as a form of respect for the guests.

Informal work team dinner, small group of 7 people. The poster on the lower floor is very cute and welcoming. I ordered the soup of the day (minestrone) and I was served a small bowl, without a spoon (it is brought to me upon request) and without parmesan. With these inappropriate prices (14 Fr. for a measly portion) you could at least serve the cheese bowl, the usual condiment for minestrone. The flavor wasn't that great, definitely not a soup I'll remember - if on the fact that it was small and ridiculously overpriced. For the second course I chose the fresh pasta spaghettoni with clams and Roman sprouts. Here too, at a cost of 24 Fr., a decidedly overpriced price: first of all I was served a small portion of tagliolini (spaghettoni was written on the menu... and no comment from the waiter). Oh well, after all, pasta is pasta. Then the clams, note well, came from the glass jar that you find in any supermarket for a few cents... woe to anyone who expects a nice serving of fresh clams in the shell... alas! Overall, an unimpressive dinner. My neighbor at the table had mashed potatoes on the side, which I tried: the bricks of the retaining wall are soft in comparison. Summa summarum: I won't return here and I wouldn't recommend it. No no no.

Very very disappointed! The setting seemed perfect for a romantic dinner though. But unfortunately the dishes are worthy of a canteen. The beef cheek with truffle was just fat and the sauce didn't have any particular taste. I didn't have the right to the wine list although I am quite knowledgeable. So I was served a local red wine. OK but nothing exceptional. The gnocci was also very ordinary. And finally the tables around lighting cigarette after cigarette and no menu in English. In short, a beautiful place but a bad memory.

While visiting Lugano, we ordered takeaway for diner as the restaurants are currently closed by law. We got the pumpkin raviolis, they were delicious, probably the best raviolis in our lives! The lasagnas were also highly recommended. The person we got on the phone and who also came for the pickup was super nice and spoke very good English. The restaurant looks very charming, with traditional interior and spacious exterior seating. We cannot wait for the restaurant to be able to open again to also enjoy the dining experience. It also looks like the perfect place for weddings or other events.
