Large grotto with history. Friendly and attentive staff with a large terrace with shady trees. Ticino specialties. Enough parking spaces in front of the house.

As always, it was excellent to eat a little fresh cheese and then the ribs and they were very good

The food was ok, the service was friendly, but attention + hospitality are defined differently. In short: for a short, refreshing break = okay, for a pleasant evening with a gourmet feast in a great atmosphere, there are a few things missing Bianca & Herald Gutjahr, Lörrach / South-DE

We came with a big group of people and sat inside. The food is so hearty and down to earth. Nice Grotto in valley Maggiore.

The food, especially the Costinis, is very good. I find the 3 franc surcharge for the risotto worrying if you don't want patati with the Cosini but rather risotto.

We had dinner with seven people on Wednesday. Luckily we reserved early, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a seat. Reservations are easily possible online. The waitress was very friendly and quick. The food was wonderful. We recommend the spare ribs fresh from the grill (only CHF 23 including a side dish). The various salads were all very fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the lasagna and penne Bolognese. There are still many Ticino specialties such as risotto or polenta. The atmosphere outside is beautiful. Even though it rained in the evening, we stayed dry under the trees. I can't understand some of the bad reviews about the food. In any case, it is not true that frozen food is served when you can watch the grill master at work. Sure, it's a grotto and not a nuvelcuisine restaurant. In the end, the bill is only half as high as if you had dined in Ascona. 🤷‍♀️

Cool place, grotto-like environment, good meeting place, easy parking, on the main road if you visit the Maggia valley and has plenty of seating, both inside and outside, offers typical dishes and has a good choice of wines, recommended for friends and groups

Very nice garden terrace, very friendly service, short waiting times. My roast with polenta was very tasty. When it came to the polenta with alpine cheese, we had a different idea...we said alpine cheese in the polenta. It was also good, but the cheese wasn't to our liking. We think prices are ok. Reserve conveniently online.

The food, service and ambience were really fantastic. Even though the grotto was completely full, we spontaneously got a table and were served very attentively! Our dog was also able to find his place. 😊

Honestly a joke. Everything came from the micro oven and was overly salted to compensate for the obvious lack of quality.

Frozen food, too salty and tasteless. Friendly service but not very efficient. I don't recommend.

The atmosphere under the trees is very nice. Over the past few years we have had very mixed experiences regarding the food here. Opt for the cold plates or the melanzane as theye are really nice.

Where to start...let's start from the location, which is appreciated by all, the cuisine raises some concerns... Dejected, sad and depressing…ribs boiled before being grilled…all I'm saying is this, let the Germans go.

Loved the place, loved the service, definitely enjoyed the food! Recently renovated, plenty of space inside and outside and great atmosphere. We also have a “hard to please” baby that confirms the quality. :) Totally recommend.

A safe value in the Maggia Valley. We visit Mai Morire every time we stay in Ticino and it is always simply beautiful there. The service is attentive, the Merlot tastes just like it would in a grotto in Boccalino, perfect and the Formaggella is second to none. See you next time!

We discovered the fine grotto by chance while passing through. Very nice and helpful staff. We didn't have a reservation. The staff immediately arranged a table for us in the full grotto. The meal was excellent. Anyone who wanted could order again at no extra charge. Great price-performance ratio. We'd love to come back.

Big disappointment. We made a reservation and were there on time. We ended up having to wait 1 hour for our food. The quality of the food was poor and it just didn't taste good. We won't come again and won't recommend it to anyone else.

Actually deserves zero stars It was simply a disaster!!! I was here regularly. The food was bad. Children's portion, hardly any sauce on the salad, more bones like meat, carelessly prepared. We felt like we weren't welcome.🤨 I won't recommend it to anyone again.

Absolutely not recommended. Tasteless and expensive, I ordered a lasagna for 18.- and it was as big as the children's portion of the pasta and tasted absolutely zero.

We've been here a few times. But it has dropped in quality lately. As soon as the terrace is full, the kitchen is completely overwhelmed and you wait an hour or more for the food. The portions were also smaller and the food wasn't good either. We had an osso bucco and the sauce was watery and bland. We no longer go there and can no longer recommend it to anyone.

Our favorite grotto!! Hugo is a very nice, friendly host with a great team in the back. Fast service and a wide menu. Special Ticino special. Great ambience under the trees which provide shade in the heat. So I would like to recommend the grotto to everyone and give it a try. One time turns into several times. Have fun and buon appetit. We have been going to our favorite grotto in the Maggia Valley for over 30 years. Located on a slope, large terrace, forest in the background, enough parking space. Under big old trees. Very nice service. Very fine food. We have already tried various things, whether coniglio, entrecote, minestrone, polenta, rissoto, salads etc. everything is great! A Boccalino with a meal is awesome! A grappa with your espresso!

The food was very tasty and we received it very quickly. We had “Polenta e Brasato”, “Bistecca di Manzo” and “Impanata con patate fritte” (children's menu). We also thought the wine “Merlot del Ticino” was okay.

Super authentic Grotto! The dishes are delicious and the service very pleasant.

This time below expectations...polenta and porcini mushrooms disappointing. Served without a minimum of sauce, but just 0 😱 Polenta on one side of the plate, completely dry and mushrooms sautéed in a pan with a sprinkle of parsley, tasteless, on the other. Absent service...girls collecting plates and cleaning tables without interacting with the customer.

Good service, the best Ticino menus and moderate prices

Sorry for the 1 star, green salad starter: too little salad dressing, even had to eat some lettuce leaves dry. Main course: Was the most expensive on the menu; Beef fillet with potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables weren't seasoned, very bland and the meat wasn't cooked enough (medium -). I couldn't eat it, so I got a new one, unfortunately this time the outside was burnt, which is how it tasted. Had to let the meat stand twice. Go home hungry 😉

I have been going there for many years and we have always been happy with both the staff and the food. The food is really good and the place always fascinates me! A magical place if you can say with excellent local products.
