Establishment that we discovered via the internet and that we did not know. Grotto very interesting for its location and its very friendly welcome. Regarding the meal and drinks, very competent and professional staff without wanting to rip off the customer. A real pleasure to have spent a convivial moment with the bosses. An experience to be repeated in better weather conditions. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. 👍👏👍

The service was remarkable from the start. The staff welcomed us with open arms and made us feel comfortable and valued throughout our stay. Her recommendations, from appetizers to drinks, were spot-on and contributed to our overall successful evening. Now to the highlight of the evening: the pot roast. Rarely have I enjoyed a dish that was so rich in flavor and at the same time so tender that it melted in your mouth. The roast was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside. Each bite was a feast for the senses, accompanied by a sauce that impressed with its depth and complexity, and side dishes that skillfully complemented the main course. It was, without exaggeration, a culinary masterpiece.

came to this grotto 45 years ago for the first time and have been back many times since. we were excited to return for lunch this week on a cold and rainy day to see what the current owners offer. so glad we did as everything was absolutely perfect! we started with a delicious mixed salad that included some fresh seasonal ramp leaves and, on the owner's recommendation, a tripe dish, which was just like my mom used to make - hearty, tender and full of tomato-y flavor - yummy! we then each had osso buco with porcini risotto - couldn't have been better - i still dream about the bone marrow! heavenly! we both enjoyed a typical boccalino ticinese with a rustic local red, which hit the spot! this super tasty meal, a nice chat with the owner, and a one of a kind setting made for a very memorable experience! the outdoor area with the creek and watermill is a dream setting for a meal on a balmy night! if we still lived in europe, we would be here all the time! bravo - we'll rush back as soon as we can!

An exceptional place on the heights of Ascona for a unique experience thanks to the warmth and generosity of the welcome in this charming mill. The cuisine is not to be outdone and we loved the menu and daily specials (sausage, cheese, baked “candied” pork shank, osso buco and apple pie). Been here again after many decades and everything was as before. The new owners have wonderfully restored the charm of the house. The service is very friendly and you have the feeling that you have been a regular here for years. The food... a dream... we had the gnocchi with wild garlic pesto and the knuckle in beer sauce with risotto. We wish you much success and already know where we are going again for the next vacation.

Be sure to reserve in advance! The two of us were lucky to get a place. The grotto used to be one of my favorite places, but was unfortunately closed for a long time and is now open again. The outside area is large and very beautiful, inside it is very homely. The menu corresponds to a typical grotto. We chose Picata Milanese with risotto. It was very tasty and we were completely satisfied. The service was super friendly and didn't let us notice that the grotto was busy. Always worth a visit!

Warm welcome in an idyllic place with a mill wheel and stream. Grotto very inviting. The food was very nicely presented and excellent. We were very pleased with the limoncello at the end. We'd love to come back.

We arrived in the early afternoon. The owner of the place welcomed us. We asked for his recommendation for the recommended dishes. The food is excellent, special and delicious. The attitude is warm and personal. For dessert, lemon ice cream with limoncello and ice cream with pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin seeds are highly recommended. The place itself is special in the courtyard with a flowing stream and the sound of the flowing water creates a special atmosphere.

We were there by reservation with 17 people. We ordered the food in advance and everything went wonderfully. The owners are very organized, friendly and uncomplicated. We had a lovely evening in this grotto. The outside area is also very beautiful, idyllic and simply cozy! We will definitely go back there. Grazie mille!

Not only were we warmly welcomed and pampered, the Ticino cuisine was also excellent, crowned by a fine dessert and the musical accompaniment of the cheerful solo entertainer. This place is truely a hidden Gem in the Locarno area. The restaurant is situated in very calm and beautiful surroundings, and is a really special place. The restaurant team were some of the most friendly and kind people, resulting in a truely special evening. The food is tremendious, rooted in the local Ticino food. Overall we really recommend this restaurant, and also taking the opportunity to visit one of the beautiful villages around Locarno! No doubt that we will come back!

We have known this grotto for almost 30 years, but unfortunately it was closed for a long time. What today's team delivers with a super capo is simply bombastic!! The welcome is warm and you can feel the heart and soul with which the team works right from the start. The food is excellent and the prices for food and drinks are very fair. We finally managed to go to the Grotto Mulin di ciöss after walking past it several times. It was worth it! There was nothing to complain about. We will be back! The interactive wine list is original and offers good local wines.

Characteristic environment. Particular is the stream with a waterfall that descends beyond the windows along the main room. A bit of a damp/old smell.. but the live rock and water definitely don't help. Only stopped for a beer, so can't comment on the cuisine. From the risotto menu close to 30 CHF... Swiss style.

A beautiful place with excellent service. Unfortunately we couldn't have lunch, as they exceptionally decided to only open at 5:30 pm. But they were super polite and allowed us to drink something. They even offered to cook something simple, but as they only accepted payment in cash, we didn't stay to eat. If we had more time, we would come back later or another day.

During my vacation in Ticino in 2022 we went to Grotto Mulin twice because it was so good. The service (German and Italian) and the food were great. The boss's wine recommendation exceeded the price-performance ratio. In the hot summer days it is very pleasant outside in the grotto. I'll definitely go again when I'm in Ticino.

After a long slumber, the Mulin di Ciöss in Arcegno is finally open again. And how!!! From the very friendly reception of the telephone reservation, to the varied menu, the excellent food, the small but fine selection of wines at fair prices, to the extremely friendly and courteous service, everything is simply perfect.
