Beautiful location across the lake, overlooking Lugano and the mountains.

First of all, a small warning to people who arrive by car. Getting there via the only road is nerve-wracking. Once you've completed the route, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful location right on the lake with a view of Lugano. Nice service. The food was pretty average, so unfortunately the restaurant wasn't worth the journey for me.

An restaurant with a wonderfull view over the lake, but not cheap.

After eating lunch at another restaurant, I went to the playground for my baby and ended up going there because I used the wrong navigation. The surroundings of the restaurant were so pretty that I couldn't resist going into the restaurant. I thought it was break time because it was around 2 or 3, but the staff welcomed me and I ordered dessert! I had nut ice cream, affogato, and lemon sorbet, and they were all so delicious! Next time, I want to make a proper meal reservation. I'll bring my parents~ Since it was right next to the lake, I took off my shoes, dipped my feet in the water, played, and took a lot of pictures with the baby. Delicious desserts, friendly staff, and a pretty restaurant ♥️ It was such a fun memory! Highly recommended!!

Looking for a nice location to eat we came across Grotto San Rocco. At the end, via a beautiful road with many bends, you arrive at the idyllically situated restaurant. We decided to let the nicest waitress surprise us, resulting in a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the service was the way you want to make memories during your holiday. Highly recommended! And oh yes, your dog is more than welcome.

After an idyllic tour of the lake, we (2 adults, 2 children, 1 baby) fortified ourselves for our bike tour to Lanzo. The service was first class. The children were allowed to paint and play. For them there were the finest children's menus that the kitchen had spontaneously put together for us. We had a very pleasant lunch in a wonderful atmosphere right on the lakeshore. The tour couldn't have started better and we reached our goal :)

We just got kicked out! Extremely rude and arrogant staff! We asked if there was room for two people, we were told no... but that's not true! The place inside is totally empty, after I pointed it out I was told: if you want inside you can sit but wait 1 or 2 hours. Then they left us standing at the door without telling us anything. Very friendly service, nice atmosphere with a great selection of drinks and food; typical of a Ticino grotto. A must when you are in Lugano. We also recently enjoyed a wonderful dinner; Softly cooked, juicy pork cheeks that you can mash with a fork. Plus a wonderful, creamy sauce in sufficient quantities. The leaflet; a fluffy beetroot risotto was a dream. The spaghetti Emilio was divine. Thanks to the kitchen and the service, super friendly and extremely personable.

We took a boat taxi to the Grotto San Rocco in August and had a really nice evening with delicious food and good wine. The owner even sent me my jacket that I had forgotten there.

This is a really special place. On the negative side, it is tricky to access by road -- I certainly wouldn't like to do the drive in the dark. Plus parking is very limited: We had to park about ten minutes walk up the hill as the car park was full (5 cars!). So for a dinner sitting the only real option is by boat. It is served by the public boat service, but this certainly adds to the cost of the meal. However, the accessibility actually contributes to how special the place is: Firstly, the location is amazing (see photo), secondly it means that they go the extra mile because they can't rely on passing tourist trade! The service was truly exceptional -- Every request was dealt with in a friendly, professional way, and always made every member of our party, young and old, feel special and welcome. The food was very good, but the portions could be more generous, I felt. For example, the mixed and green salads were much smaller than equivalents I've had at other grottos in Ticino. Also I guess I would have to say that the prices are a little too high, especially when you take portion size into account. However, because the whole experience was so nice, I'm really having to scrape the barrel to find fault with it! If I ever buy a boat I'll be coming here every week!

Great food, phenomenal view, very nice staff. We had the gazpacho, pork cheek, risotto, and one of their pastas. All delicious. Great place to enjoy a long lunch or dinner. Plenty of shade, too!

Best place in the lake! Food was delicious and they use a lot of local products, you should try the house red wine (is a must) their pancetta as well! I ordered spaghetti Emilio and of course you can't leave without trying one of their desserts! There were 7 of us, service was excellent and very fast. Raúl took really good care us of, make sure to follow his recommendations. Next time we are around we will come back for sure!

I booked a table for 7 people for dinner in this wonderful place right on the lake. Too bad about the change of management and foreign waiters (presumptuous and sarcastic) who have taken away the charm of the local grotto. But other than that when it came to ordering they were out of ribs! Well we had gone out for dinner in a grotto to eat ribs... total disappointment! We resorted to luganighetta that arrived partly charred and partly uncooked.. Very slow service and high bill! To forget !

Beautiful place to watch the sunset over the lake and of course to eat a good meal. We had the mixed platter with delicious hams and cheeses. Followed by a fish of the day (bass) and a local interpretation of the Bolognese. Super delicious, well balanced and felt fresh. Desert was great as well! Easily accessible by the weekend dinner tours from Lugano harbour. 140Fr for two people for 3 courses and wine.

First time at a Grotto in Lugano and it was well worth it. We were five people and shared multiple items from the menu which all we’re delicious. The price was good for the portion as well as the quality. The staff was friendly and knew English, Spanish and Italian. Table was right on the lake with excellent views. Next time I am in Lugano I will return. The boat ride to the grotto was also greatly priced. Also a tip if you are a wine lover order the house red wine you will not regret it🙂👍🏻
