A place steeped in history with a fantastic view of Lake Lucerne, which can be easily reached by boat. If possible, you should travel on one of the old paddle steamers. Is always a highlight. The well-known “Weg der Schweiz” hiking trail also starts from the Rütli.

This historic place in Switzerland is worth a stop. 👍. The meadow (the Swiss flag flies here on the site where the Confederation was founded) with 3 stone benches and 3 beautiful trees is a great photo opportunity. Getting there isn't all that great. There are only 2 ways: 1. Hiking trails from Seelisberg (over 1 hour with a lot of elevation gain) 2. Arrival by ferry from Brunnen (1x per hour, price per adult approx. CHF 13.-, duration 10 minutes, dog can be taken with you if you purchase a ticket.) No access by car possible (up to closer than 3km) Nevertheless: recommendation 👍😎🇨🇭

Probably the most Swiss place in Switzerland! The landscape is a pure postcard idyll. When I visited, everything was closed and I was there alone. It's been so quiet and quiet here that I felt like I could hear my thoughts. Only the walk several hundred meters down took a very long time (I walked from Seelisberg to Rütli). But the forest there is nice and dense, so you won't be baked by the sun even in midsummer. The meadow itself is also beautiful and everything is rustic

Beautiful view and wonderful boat trip to reach the Rütli. However, there is no/very little information about what happened on the Rütli. Steep path up, but the restaurant offers a great menu!

My girlfriend & I walked from Seelisberg to Rütli. The walk was very nice, through the forests it is doable even on hot days. When we arrived we had a drink in the restaurant, I bought a Rütlihaus 🍺 for the way (I drank it at home, no matter). The whole area is very beautiful & connected to nature. It's not the Rigi but it's not overcrowded either.

If you live in Switzerland 🇨🇭 one time you have to go visit this place It is an important place for the people of Switzerland. Because it is the place where the start of Switzerland or National Day was announced since 1291, meaning that it is truly Swiss. You must come to this place once in your life. Cross over by boat only. The view here is very beautiful. There is a restaurant available and bathrooms. Or you can walk up but it takes a long time, suitable for people who like to walk a lot.

Food was very good, prices were also completely reasonable. Food and drink was prepared quickly. Can recommend a visit. The view is great.

Excuisite experience, from the boat ride there to the restaurant with a gorgeous view and delicious, reasonably priced food! We were there untill 12isch, and it was suprisingly not crowed!

Beautifully situated on the Vierwaldstättersee, the boat after Brunnen leaves here, after first leaving in Brunnen and following the track up after Seelisberg. There are many hiking opportunities there. Then comfortably down a footpath 300m to Rütli.

We walked from Seelisberg to Rütliwiese. Takes about 1 hour. You can then continue by boat. The food in the Rütlihaus was very good.

Very nice, we were also lucky enough to have an alphorn player rehearse, which added to the atmosphere. You can go on a nice little, but I also mean a longer, hike. But it's all a question of personal preference and weather

Beautiful, natural and historical place. The best way to get there is by boat. The climb is a bit steep and you should be able to walk well. You will be rewarded with a beautiful view. Doable with a stroller, but very strenuous! The Rütli restaurant is ok. Food is OK. Price performance is a bit excessive for my standards (Alpine macaroons with "bacon" for 23.-). It's the only thing left there. It has a small farm shop.

What an emotion to be here... We went down on foot from Seelisberg, into the forest with an exceptional view of the lake, then we returned by boat and then by funicular. I recommend this superb historical walk to everyone!

It is a place that I recommend everyone to visit. We left from Fluelen and arrived at the Grütli meadow after 50 minutes by boat and 10 minutes of walking. Better to do the excursion in good weather. On site there is a restaurant where you can eat something and in the immediate vicinity there is a toilet. The outing is possible with children of all ages.

Emblematic place in Swiss history. Crossing the lake on a Belle Epoque boat adds even more charm to this excursion destination.

I don't like being a spoilsport, but the Rütli oath, as the national founding myth depicts it, almost certainly didn't exist. The myth was first passed down at the end of the 15th century. Nevertheless, it is a very beautiful story, which was then strongly influenced by Friedrich Schiller (1804) in today's archetypal style. Of course, the story is often told this way to describe the fact that the young Swiss Confederation was actually very defensive. Unfortunately, the myth often glorifies factual events, which are very interesting even without glorification and would provide material for a good story. Of course, the Rütli is still a beautiful and historic place. Here on July 25, 1940, General Henri Guisan held the Rütli report. General Guisan swore his senior officers into the reduit plan. No matter what history says, the Rütli is a place that everyone should visit and form their own opinion about it. There is probably a bit of truth in every “saga”, of which there are so many. 😉

Incredible landscape, historical landmark (the place where the first 3 Swiss cantons united). One of the favourite places to go with visitors. From Brunnen, you can take the boat for 5-10 minutes and reach to Rütli. Walking or hiking possibilities also available.

The lake of the four cantons is magnificent. The location is full of history.

By boat from Lucerne to Treib, then by train to Seelisberg and a leisurely hike of around 35 minutes to Rütli. The Rütlihaus restaurant is small but the food (and service) was very good, I recommend! The way to the Rütli boat station is also easy (10 minutes down the mountain) and there is also the opportunity to swim there. Perfect for a trip to discover central Switzerland when the weather is nice.

Nice place. Arriving with a steam ship, walking around on historic location, eating at the restaurant while enjoying the view, and finally leaving with an other ship. Really enjoyable program if someone is looking for something relaxing.

Worth seeing, the legendary birthplace of Switzerland 🇨🇭👌. Strictly speaking, however, it is nothing more than an ordinary alpine pasture. ☝️ If you come from Seelisberg train station, you only have to go downhill, approx. 400 m above sea level. Or you can reach the historic place from the beautiful SZ fountain in a 12-minute steamboat crossing. ⛴

Very nice, peaceful place. Wonderful for a walk overlooking the lake. Luckily it has hardly been developed for tourism, there is only a small restaurant. There is a nice picnic area. Traveling by ship is recommended, but it is relatively far on foot from above.

Very hospitable, very friendly hosts, very fine bratwursts with excellent potato salad, for which I would be happy to come back to Rütli.
