Spectacular views over Bern and the Alps

A real family paradise. There is something on offer for everyone.

Visited in September 2023 with a 1 year old. You buy tickets to ride the train up, buggies can go on too, it's not a very long ride up. There's parking not too far if you drive. Our 1 year old loved the little train ride at the top - they ride free under two, but parents have to pay, you can purchase tickets contactless. Fantastic views from up there, and a small cafe and ice cream shop if you're peckish. For adults and older kids, there's a big playground and a toboggan to ride which I highly recommend. When we visited, the water park area was closed for cleaning which was a shame.

The candlelight concerts in the Kulturschüür are simply wonderful. I can really recommend it 👌

Bern's local mountain, currently You can only go up by bus as the train is under maintenance. Great place to visit. I'd love to come here again!

worth visiting, amazing sceneries!

We used the funiculars with our free 1-day public transportation tickets provided by the hotel. The park is very nice for families. The view is great.

Great location and good food, ideal for tobogganing or walking in the snow. Great idea with this grill and that you can grill your own sausage. Very sociable.

Take the funicular up quickly then a real little amusement park. Great walking opportunities, children's games, picnic area. Self-service restaurant. Just to feed it because it’s really not very good. It’s military style. To avoid!

We enjoyed an excellent ChateauBrian and great service

The entire park is at 850 m above sea level. Many facilities are waiting for children and young people. The park is always open. The Migros Restaurant has spacious rooms. The constant offering at Tapis rouge is fine, varied and good. I always go there.

It took us just 30 minutes walking up, the path is clear and easy with many stairs. The view from the top is amazing ♡ the restaurant offers great choices of food and drinks, toilet and terrace too.

We went to the Gurten with the cable car and the Bern ticket. Very good overview of Bern up to the snow-covered Alps. There is a very good restoration on the Gurten.

A wonderful place with lots of opportunities for children, but also a nice destination for adults. Very nice Migros restaurant with an incredibly large selection and many seating options in and around the building. There are many clean toilets available, even without consumption. I would love to visit Gurten Park again.

Share with family and enjoy a spectacular landscape

Is a great place to relax or play. Züglifahrt Putschauto, large tower for climbing and sliding, there is also a large marble run and much more. You can eat very well.

Gurten Park is a perfect place to spend time with children playing outdoors. The playground has various attractions, electric cars that work with a token (1chf), the train and other rides also suitable for different age groups. Everything is always very clean and tidy. For a break there is the option of the bar and the restaurant which has a vast choice of dishes.

Nice place for families. A jungle is around. Fire place for bbq is available.

It's always wonderful to enjoy the quiet place and the wonderful view of Bern and far beyond!

We visited in the evening and had a leisurely drink outside. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the service was excellent.

Beautiful place especially in the sun

The Gurten Bahn (free) took us up to Bern's local mountain in a very short time, where the autumn festival was taking place. Of course, a tour with the small steam locomotive is also included. 😊🚂 Beautiful view, great for walking, playgrounds for the children. We didn't try any restaurants.

Not crazy. I don’t get the hype. Nice green park and that’s it

The kids love this place. They could spend all day just on the mechanical ball run. We have been twice and haven't had time to do everything- too busy with the balls, water feature, park train to go and do the toboggan run. There are often events here too, and lots of places to do BBQ. We hold picnics here and it's accessible from anywhere in Switzerland within a couple of hours.

Fun for children, there are two restaurants and the prices are expensive It is best to visit it by train if you live in Bern, as public transportation is free

Quiet oasis on Bern's local mountain. Whether for children, couples or individuals, there seems to be something for everyone. The green area is very spacious and is lined with trees like fireplaces.

Magnificent playground accessible by funicular from Bern

Parking in the parking lot above the train entrance is subject to a fee. The train has a few seats, travels relatively slowly and it is extremely hot inside in summer. Wheelchair accessible. Bicycles can be taken with you. Once you arrive there are many attractions for small children up to the age of 12: playground, mini train, climbing tower, water areas, electric cars to sit on, toboggan run (note: very, very short travel time). There is plenty of seating, a kiosk where you can get cafes, ice cream, etc. and also a great restaurant. The view is very nice, picnic blanket is worth it👍Dogs are allowed, wheelchair accessible. There are race tracks for mountain bikes that lead down. There is even a pacifier tree :-) You can walk down, take the train or ride a scooter for 15chf per person ---> it's great fun if the children can drive it themselves. Running down is also great, there are tarred paths, but you can also go through the forest, where you need sturdy shoes. Overall, it's worth a day trip, especially with smaller children.

Unfortunately we couldn't do much because a lot of things were off. Otherwise it was really nice there

The vista is splendid. If one is lucky to catch a clear day, then you can get to see the majestic Alps in their all splendour.

very nice view, large and child-friendly, prices are great, e.g. a round of rowing track costs 5.-, or children's train costs 2.- for adults 3.-, a small water park for children to go swimming and many other things, large playground, restaurant ect ect

Fantastic to go here. The train is located at the Berner Pass and you can easily get there by public transport. At the top you have a beautiful view, you can enjoy a nice walk and there is plenty of fun for children. Possibility to have a bite to eat and a drink in the restaurant upstairs. Highly recommended 😁

Great day trip for with children. The train that runs on the Gurten is simply great. The large playground is also perfect.

Very good food and excellent service. It was pleasing what the young ladies did for the teachers and the moss service in Gümligen on Monday, July 3rd. Since I work in the catering industry myself, it makes me even happier to see such motivated specialists. I'll definitely come back next time with the family. Thank you very much.

A great park with a view of the city

A great place to have a delicious meal. Relax. Admire the views. Relax and reboot.

Amazing place for kids and adults alike in Bern. Take funicular up from the Gurtenbahn station which was pretty cheap (6CHF with half fare card). Quick 10 mins ride up the mountain. So many activities at the top! There is a nice hotel/restaurant, a snack and souvenirs shop which serves nice ice creams. The miniature railways tracks and engines/trains were fantastic! You can buy tickets up there (2CHF for a ride). Such a lovely track which goes through the park. They had a cars racing track as well. Tiny cars operated by coins which kids can ride across a small track. Many other rides and other options for the kids like their ball run section for kids and adults was fascinating, mini pool where kids can play in the summer, etc. In other parts they also have toboggan run and frisbee track. The views of the city of Bern from here were amazing. Overall a fun way to spend a day or half a day with kids. Good weather required as mostly everything is outdoors.

Relaxing walk/hike. The view from the funicular was obstructed by trees so you're better off walking to the top.

Gurten Park offers a beautiful local recreation area with great views over the city of Bern and lots of entertainment for children. There is a large playground, a children's railway, bumper cars, a paddling pool and, for the older kids, a cool toboggan run. Your physical well-being is also taken care of: the self-service restaurant Tapis Rouge offers a variety of dishes and also a play area. If you would like to dine on a more upmarket note, you will find a suitable option in the Gurtner Restaurant.

Very nice funicular ride to the top of the mountain overlooking the city of Bern Switzerland. Had drinks in the outside restaurant overlooking the city.

Gorgeous park. Beautiful place, comfortable and varied playgrounds. Lots of places to relax, green. There is a children's railway, children's karting, and a swimming pool for small children (free). Wonderful view from the observation deck. I recommend visiting with children. You can conveniently get there by funicular.

This is a really nice place to chill, lie on the grass, climb up the watchtower and take good pictures and eat some icecream. The train ride up and down is very fun and hikers, cyclists will definitely have fun too. The watchtower offers great view. There is a park and other fun activities for kids here. Definitely recommend.

The Gurten is very beautiful and definitely worth seeing! Lots of attractions for children, but also nice for just walking.

A popular excursion destination for nature-loving families and groups who enjoy hiking, including for small children.

Relaxation in the middle of the city! Green, spacious and inviting, and also absolutely child-friendly. The “Tapisrouge” also offers a varied, fresh buffet that is also suitable for those on a budget. Recommended!

Exorbitant waiting times to sit down, even longer to order, again until the food is served and then the waiting time until you can pay. I don't know whether this has something to do with the canton of Bern or whether the service is simply completely overwhelmed.

Nice place near Bern to have fun and enjoying with nature. Has Fernicular ride also , restaurant at site also and even groupscan also have their own food and have fun at a place designated for making/heating food . Vast grassy landscape is soothing and worth seeing . View of Bern from top is awful . A wooden observation tower is also there to have more clear view of Bern . If weather permits then one can see many peaks and ranges from the viewpoint . Like ti visit again .
