Himmapan Lodge is great in every way; from the heavenly food to the great staff, the excellent service and the wonderful ambience! 🫶 Special requests (Massaman with chicken instead of lamb) were also fulfilled without any problems, and the staff is generally very attentive and courteous. 1000% recommendation! Went there for dinner on Valentine's Day evening. An absolute dream. The ladies and gentlemen in service were very accommodating and polite. And the food…. I haven't had such a delicious meal in a long time... I'm thrilled!

Where to start! Firstly, most important I’d say is the food. We came for the Tuesday Market & it was absolutely phenomenal! So much to choose from, but everything was fresh, hot & delicious. The decor is something to be admired and they really put such an effort to include historical / meaningful details (such as the tree of life panelling). Clean, stunning and cosy! The restaurant is set above the Kinderzoo, which is a lovely touch & allows you to watch the elephants roam around below. As well, you have the view of the lake! Then not forgetting the members of staff and wonderful Franco. Everyone is so warm & kind, and we really appreciated the fantastic service. Thank you for a beautiful time & we can’t wait to come back one day 💗 highly highly recommend!

The place was beautiful, the service was great, but the buffet food did not live up to the CHF 75 price tag.

There were 10 of us, all of us for the first time at Himmapan. The first impression, perfect ambience. The buffet was very varied and the quality was right. The price is worth every cent. A very nice and special restaurant. I was there on Sunday. On Sundays there is a buffet with a huge selection where you pay a fixed price and can then try as much as you want. There are vegetarian, vegan options and of course fish and meat. The Thai flair is atmospheric and what's special about it is that, thanks to the lodge's elevated location, you can look into the giraffe and elephant enclosure of the neighboring zoo in summer. I will definitely go there again.

An incredibly great place, furnished with a lot of dedication and style and attention to detail. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food is super tasty and top quality. Definitely an experience of a special kind and has won multiple awards for good reason. We would like to come again.

Very nice location. Upscale ambience, very good Thai food, large selection and different variants from fine to very spicy. Very friendly team. Be sure to reserve, it's fully booked every evening. You can see the animals of the children's zoo from the entrance or from the terrace (in summer). It's worth coming here

A great experience at the Knies Children's Zoo. This was our first time at Himmapan Lodge. We really liked the service, the ambience and the food was excellent. The portions are decent and the prices are a bit high, but the quality of the food justifies this. You have the feeling you are in Thailand. Can recommend the restaurant.

Wonderful place and very delicious food. The staff are very respectful, friendly and doing everything with so much attention, close to perfection. We took Buffet and everything was so good, so full off flavours, we ate really a bit of everything, because everything was delicious, maybe the only thing what could be a big improved would be the desserts sortiments , but they’re not that bad either. Overall an amazing experience, amazing place next to the Zoo and you can even see some animals. Definitely recommend it. 🙏🏽

UPDATE: after going there for over 10 years, see my review down below, sadly I have to tell you, it changed at himmapan! The service is more and more chaotic, staff runs with food to the wrong tables or they simply just forget you and your table. Food gets served cold and at all the food has changed, specially the mains like pad thai and the desserts (maybe a new kitchen chef?). So we will take a big break from not going there at the moment. We are disappointed! My Review from last year: The Best! The Himmapan Thai Lodge has been the best Thai restaurant far and wide for years, with consistent quality and service. The ambience is simply very calming, as if you were in a spa and relaxing a bit from the work jungle... absolutely recommended. Small menu, but what is served to the table is perfection. From starter to main, perfect. A real pleasure. Thank you, dear Himmapan team, thank you dear Knie family.

In a totally relaxing and calming environment with lovely views towards the Zurichsee, Himmapan offers delicious, tasty food prepared with care and exhibiting wonderful flavor. The menu isn't huge, but has sufficient offerings. Expect a lovely tasting experience, coupled with a quiet, luxurious inviting atmosphere. Very welcoming and attentive service. The only drawback: I went mid-week and did NOT have a reservation. There are tables inside and outside. I was told that the reservation book for that night was full and only indoor tables were available (the place was 8-10% occupied, when I entered and MAYBE 12% occupied when I left). Most outside tables remained empty during my stay. I felt that they were very overprotective (and in America, such a statement meant that with a generous tip before the meal, a preferred outside table might suddenly become 'available'. My meal: One appetizer, one soup and one entree: 80 Chf, considered reasonable for this type location. I will return!

As is the case in life, quality simply has its price. But at Himmapan Lodge you not only get pretty much the BEST Thai food ever, but also a wonderful ambience with a mystical view of the camels, elephants and the lake. You will also be pampered by authentic, warm hosts. It's like a few hours of vacation time in Thailand - highly recommended, especially for people who are afraid of flying ;-) And above all, the delicious buffets on Tuesday and Thursday - an experience in a class of its own! Very often and again and again. I'm already looking forward to the next time.

In August 2023 I was at Himmapan Lodge for the first time. It was a buffet evening and I didn't know that beforehand. The service was very friendly and, upon request, various vegan dishes were prepared for me that were not actually planned. That was extremely accommodating. The dishes were freshly prepared and tasted delicious. However, I expected a better seasoning. The ambience is very cozy, although there are some animals kept outside, such as camels, which I don't think should be here. Overall, highly recommended!

Very nice location, not like every other day. Food is of very high quality, if you really want it spicy, you should emphasize that, as Switzerland generally cooks spicy food ;) Very courteous and friendly reception and service. Totally recommended :)

High expectations - unfortunately disappointment... it was supposed to be a special evening, but it turned out to be sobering. The starter was the highlight of the evening, the rest was unfortunately just ok. No vegetables in the 50 CHF main course, instead beef fillet soaked in soy sauce. Thai cuisine has much more to offer. Maybe we just had a bad day at the restaurant.

The Himmapan restaurant in Rapperswil-Jona is absolutely high end when it comes to food, service and ambience. A visit here is absolutely recommended. However, it makes sense to reserve a table in advance.

Very delicious, open in the evening, buffet available on Sundays. But during this time there is also Tuesday. Variety of food The kitchen and wait staff are all Thai. The owner owns a zoo and a restaurant. I have been doing circuses for many generations. The shop is in the zoo area.

I had a Mother's Day celebration with my sons! From start to finish it was dreamy. The food conjures up taste explosions - the service is very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The ambience seems almost heavenly, close to Himmapan! All I have to say is - THANK YOU CLAUDIA!

The Thai restaurant Himapan in Rapperswil, right next to the children's zoo, is simply fantastic! The ambience is beautiful and the interior with Thai decorations and artwork is really impressive. The view from the terrace is unique. On one side you can see Lake Zurich and on the other you can see the children's zoo and the camels dozing. But the food is the real highlight. Every dish we ordered was delicious and authentically prepared. My personal favorite is the Tom Kha Gai, a Thai coconut milk soup with chicken and mushrooms. It was so wonderfully creamy and aromatic. We also really liked the PAD KA-PRAOW NUA from the Chiang Mai menu, the fried beef fillet with chili and Thai basil. The service was always friendly and attentive. The staff is also very helpful in recommending dishes and adapting meals to specific dietary needs. Overall, I can recommend Himapan to anyone who loves Thai food or just wants to try it out. It is a wonderful place for a cozy dinner with friends or family. I'm looking forward to coming back soon!"

By far the best Thai/Asian restaurant in the Zurich Oberland. The food is beautifully presented and tastes great. The location near the zoo and lake are also unique. What is also striking is the generous amount of space with enough distance from the neighboring table. Good for a tête à tête but also for a more upscale business meal. An absolute recommendation.

The food is really tasty, even if it is very expensive. The atmosphere is extremely nice. What really bothered us, however, was that we had to wait almost 2 hours for it and it didn't even come at the same time. It's a shame, the restaurant wasn't even full that evening and our menus weren't very special. 2 years ago things were completely different.

Everything is great, there's really nothing to complain about, but it's just way too expensive for Thai food, even if the location and ambience are great, for a little meat, a lot of vegetables and rice.

Friendly and very attentive staff. We were served very courteously, you can tell everyone is making an effort and enjoys their job. The food was very tasty. I think it's a shame that you don't get any bread with it. Ambience is super nice.

My husband and I have eaten at Lazy Sunday several times. The beautiful architecture, the matching decoration (attention to detail), the friendly service and the beautiful view create a breathtaking ambience. I feel like I'm in Thailand every time! The buffet selection is huge and the food is beautifully presented. You can simply find everything your heart desires. When we were in Himmapan for the first time, we knew immediately that we would like to celebrate an occasion there. And so we celebrated our civil wedding in February with a small group of 16 people. The organization was extremely good and everything ran smoothly. Maya, the event manager, was very friendly and accommodating, gave us great advice and addressed all of our needs. We felt how important it was to her that “our day” would be unforgettable. At the wedding itself we were warmly welcomed by Maya and the service and the service was very attentive. The food was excellent and you didn't have to worry about going home with an empty stomach. =) Thank you very much again for this wonderful and unforgettable evening!
