We know and love the Höhwald restaurant from previous visits. We were very excited to see what the new chef Thomas Graef would serve us. The long journey was worth it. Both the wine and menus are excellent. A mix between Alpine and Austrian cuisine with lots of fish dishes. But not only that, the onion roast and the Kaiserschmarren were also worth the trip. Although the restaurant was busy, manager Mara Graef found time to chat briefly with each guest and point out hidden dishes. Everything is fine. It was a successful trip and we look forward to another visit

Beautiful, rustic restaurant - a highlight for the region! Nothing is left to chance here: from the subtle, tasteful decoration, the motivated and competent service team, the culinary recommendations of the host to the taste highlights from the kitchen! Fantastically cooked and prepared with great attention to detail. A separate lounge for family or smaller company events, a sun terrace to escape from everyday life.

We made a reservation for a birthday dinner for two at Gasthaus Höhwald's restaurant area on a Friday evening in February 2024. We also booked an underground parking spot in advance. There are two locations available: the restaurant and the Stübli. We opted to place the reservation for the restaurant. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were escorted to our table. We had a lovely view of the fireplace, which added to the cozy atmosphere of the room. The guest room's interior design is tastefully decorated with a minimalist Alpine Chic style. We started with a glass of champagne, enjoyed the amuse bouche, and chose a leaf salad with the house sauce and the seabass carpaccio for starters. We decided on the fried quail breast and the fried sole fillets for the main course. Although I was disappointed with how the quails were prepared in the past at different locations, we were delighted that the quail breasts and sole dish were perfectly cooked. We paired our main course with a red wine. The final bill came up to CHF 300 plus tip. Every franc spent was worth it, in any case. A chocolate souffle with a single candle was offered with the espresso to celebrate the birthday. We appreciated this gesture, highlighting the staff's attention to their guests. They were attentive but not intrusive, friendly but not submissive. Throughout our stay, we felt like valued guests. Furthermore, despite the fully occupied dining room, there was enough space between the tables to ensure the guests' privacy. This attention to detail and consideration for guests' comfort testify to the high-quality service. We wholeheartedly recommend this location without any hesitation.

A beautiful company that not only impresses with its coziness, but also with its extremely friendly staff and great cuisine. The quality of the food has worsen a lot since the change of owners (November 2023) but prices are still very high. We went for dinner on December 29th : the portions were much smaller and not so tasty, some of the plates were served not warm and they forgot the side dish for the fish. They brought the risotto 15 min later when we were done and they made us pay for it when it was included in the menu. Today we went for tea and cake. The quark cake was not fresh, the portion was extremely small and the cost was 9 Sfr. A pity that such a cozy place is not keeping up with the good quality food from before.

My wife and I walked to Hohwald from Klosters for lunch. The ambiance, service and food were all exceptional. One of the best experiences we had in Switzerland. Highly recommended.

Oh my god, a very small ball of ice that melted before I had a chance to eat and a very small mousse of chocolate for 22 CHF (!!!). I don't think there are more expensive deserts (for what you get) in Switzerland than this one, it was so small that we finished in 2 min. I asked if there was perhaps a mistake made, but no. Highly suggest to indicate on the menu what you will get (very small delecacy food instead of a portion that justifies the price), as many customer ordering this desert will feel ripped-off as expectations will not be met. Even if the quality is excellent (which it was), it is all about expectations. A pity I didn't take a photo, this would be more convincing than my words.

We were looking forward to a nice evening and were massively disappointed. The old boss had already made the reservation wrong, then served us with nasty looks. The appetizer was still ok. When we wanted to order a dessert, we were told that there is no more time, the other guests are coming. So after 45 minutes we paid CHF 243 (2 adults, 2 children) and will never come again. Very sad, all our good memories of this restaurant were erased today

Unfortunately I can't give the restaurant a good rating. We (2 adults, 2 children) were not welcomed very nicely. The landlady assumed that we were there on the wrong day. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't like that...but she didn't even want to listen and gave us dirty looks. I felt very bad and unwelcome. Nevertheless, we ordered food. The food came very quickly. Starter was OK, the main course was unseasoned and tasted like nothing. When the children wanted to order dessert, we were told that there was no time to order another dessert and were told to leave the table. We were in the restaurant for 45 minutes. I was very disappointed and angry because I was looking forward to the evening. I will never enter the restaurant again and will definitely not recommend it to others. It is no longer the Höhwald it once was. Very unfortunate.

Just one word “WOW”. Absolutely beautiful, comfortably furnished restaurant including a sun terrace 👌🏼👍🏻 with a great view. Extremely friendly staff. The best schnitzel I've ever had in terms of taste🙏🏼 (I think made with butter😉🙏🏼👍🏻👌🏼) Salad was great, as were very fine wines. In the afternoon you can choose from delicious cakes. Free parking is also available...reservation is recommended. Priced in the upper segment, but absolutely justified.

A lunch in the Höhwald is highly recommended... you feel at home... the hosts - especially Ms. Dietrich - provide that "something" to make it feel like home. And the creativity and flavor combination from the kitchen doesn't take away from that at all...my first game dish this year and I won't forget it that quickly...a dream. But to advertise a three-course meal (gazpacho, veal duo, panna cotta) as a "menu of the day" for CHF 78.50 at lunchtime (!) is a bit too much! Especially since the location and the view allow you to see and evaluate the many positive things! Very cramped space, pervasive toilet smell in the restaurant, extremely average food and practically no choice. This restaurant may have been good at one time, but the prices remained high.

We came to the Höhwald because of my parents' praise (but they only know the restaurant from before). Nice, atmospheric restaurant with a wonderful view and location, good parking (although sometimes quite cramped) in the underground car park. Unfortunately, my wife is very sensitive to temperatures and is often cold when I'm still wearing a T-shirt. Since it is no longer too warm in the evenings at altitude and we had deliberately made a reservation for 7:30 p.m. (because of sports activities in the afternoon followed by wellness), we wanted to eat inside and so we didn't take a jacket/sweater or anything like that with us. When we said this when we arrived, we were told that it wasn't possible because it wasn't uncovered and it was so nice outside - the wind would stop in 15 minutes.....there were blankets and blankets just in case Heat lamps, which was also true. Even though it wasn't planned that way, we went outside. Unfortunately, the wind was still blowing even after 2 hours, but we were given the second "windless" table, which was a nice try. . The sun was still there for almost an hour and my wife was actually cold almost from the start. At some point (after 2 hours) we asked whether the temperature was OK. The service was a bit mixed: empty drinks were not noticed independently and asked whether a new one was wanted - a shame about the possible additional sales. Even during the meal, no one came to ask if the food was OK. Otherwise the staff was reasonably friendly. What was really a shame and remains negative in our memories was the farewell: We went through the restaurant into the underground car park, where the hostess (she also served us at the beginning) was sitting with two other people. We said goodbye and so did the people at the table, but only a goodbye - no thanks or nice that you were there etc. Something like that is really standard for a house that adorns itself so much with the term hospitality. All in all it was a bit mixed (in the truest sense of the word) and we'll see if we come back. Some things were ok, some things were good, some things weren't so good. We will see.

A sensational evening. We first enjoyed an aperitif on the beautiful terrace. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We also felt welcome with our son, although the restaurant is rather elegant. A great table was reserved for us inside and there was something for the little one to paint. The meal was excellent. The veal duo is excellent. The wine list is well-stocked and we enjoyed wine from the Bündner Machtum. The prices are reasonable and fair. All in all, definitely a recommendation and we will come back.
