We hiked up from Gfell ,about 50 minutes a nice comfortable walk although it is all up hill . Great views of the surrounding mountains. The Rösti was excellent "Hus Rösti" All self service but it works well.

I'm just ordering a sandwich when the owner comes shooting out like a fury from behind the poor employee. Woe betide me if I even touched my thermos flask and it would be charged immediately. And anyway, I'm a "left-wing warmonger" and the big evil is that everyone here just wants to save money. I stand there stunned and tell him that I'm not here to talk politics, I'm here because I want to eat a sandwich. And anyway...what's wrong with you?! But he doesn't stop and continues to rant. If it hadn't been such a beautiful day and I had been in a good mood, something would have happened and I would have felt differently about it. So I leave it at that, tell him that he has just lost customers and go eat my sandwich (a bit of white bread for 11.00), where shortly afterwards his wife puts a piece of paper on the table conspicuously close to me , “Picnic forbidden”. Mind you, I didn't have anything with me. The man obviously urgently needs mental health care. What I feel most sorry for is the foreign employee who made an effort and immediately ducked his head when the innkeeper's outburst. Furthermore, it's probably not just me... I don't like it at all when such a half-smart person attacks his wife, child and foreigner. And we would like to urge him to find his decency again.

An apple strudel (approx. 4 fingers wide and wafer-thin) with vanilla sauce for 12.50. It floats in the vanilla sauce so you can't see the small size. That's just audacious for this price. In addition, the service is unfriendly and feels harassed if you want to pay by card (in 2024...).

The Waiter was mean and stressed my friend when he was Eating. The Food came very late and it was mid. We waited 30 Minutes. But the View Beautiful. It was so overpriced. 30$ for a Schnitzel and the portions were for little kids. The whole thing was like a Canteen.

We were on the Hörnli with our 3 children and wanted to eat an ice cream. When I asked the staff if they had ice cream, the answer was an aggressive "no". There were only overpriced coups, but nothing suitable for children. Completely incomprehensible. We also heard the innkeeper shouting out the window towards the terrace today because a guest had a drinking bottle on the table. He then shouted "I'm only coming down once". We won't spend any more cents at the Hörnli inn!

We came to the mountain inn to spend the night via our pilgrim hiking trail. We had reserved 2 months in advance. Luckily, there was hardly any availability by phone and the answers by email sometimes only came 2-3 weeks later. When we arrived at the top we were greeted very friendly. The bed downstairs was also very comfortable and the service was courteous. However, the unannounced price change put a damper on all of this. Instead of 45 CHF per night with breakfast, it suddenly cost 68 CHF! Which is simply a 150% cost increase! This was justified by losses during the Corona period. My problem was more that it was neither updated on the website nor communicated via email. Of course, once you've made such a journey, you won't change your place to sleep based on price. Unfortunately, it comes across as a bit of an intentional cost trap. You could simply update the price on the website. The prices for food are not that cheap either. For a not particularly large portion of pasta with sauce you pay 22 CHF. Unfortunately, this gave an otherwise very nice stay a bland taste.

10th of September and it's still beautiful weather. We went for a simple walk from Steg Bahnhof to Bergrestaurant Hörnli - easy enough and only about 1.5 hours. The Bergrestaurant is great - plenty to choose from, lots of seating inside and out - very enjoyable!

DANGER! The owner is dangerous and aggressive! I wanted to visit the restaurant today, but unfortunately I missed the fact that you are not allowed to arrive by car. When I arrived, I was greeted by an irate owner who ran up to me and, without warning, ripped open my car door, violently ripped my headphones off my head, and threw them away. Afterwards I was threatened that I would have to leave the area as quickly as possible. As a young woman this was a traumatic experience, the first and last time I was there.

We were on the Hörnli again 2-3 weeks ago. If the landlord didn't complain so much about political issues and didn't even notice when you didn't want to talk, it would be nice. Unfortunately it closes at 5 p.m. and the landlord explains why at length. We had our picnic with us. Funny, it works great at other mountain inns…. despite Corona, war...

Today I consumed coffee with milk, apple spritzer and (industrially produced and packaged!) chocolate cake for 14.40 CHF. I then ate a few TUK crackers while I was drinking my apple spritzer and was told coolly that I should put them away, that I wasn't allowed to consume what I had brought with me, I could do that on the way. It was pouring and storming outside and it's not like I only ordered water!! So little pilgrimage or hospitality meets with absolute incomprehension for me. No recommendation!

Loved my pitstop on top of the Hörnli. During this weekday of May, only half a dozen other guests. The menu is short, but I find this appropriate for such a location. Food was prepared immediately and quickly, portions are good and quality as well. Loved talking to the boss, who might have set views on politics and world news, but fun to talk to. Will definitely return this Summer.

Room only 1 star because it is a pilgrim accommodation with many beds. Completely sufficient for this purpose.

I can only judge the friendliness of the service. The garden terrace was full of snow and closed, there was no sign “picnic forbidden”. We spontaneously ate our sandwich there (we would never have done so if the terrace had been open and served). When an employee came out, he reprimanded us without respect or decency - friendliness was a long way off! It probably didn't occur to this employee that we wanted to have a coffee and a dessert in the restaurant after the sandwich. Of course we didn't do it. I don't understand people, how they can react like that - live and let live, especially when it doesn't hurt anyone and we don't get in anyone's way. ZERO sympathy points won!

Warm and friendly service and the innkeepers keep an overview even when there is a lot of crowd, the calm and their sense of humor, which I absolutely don't take for granted. I always enjoy coming here.

A bit dull, on a quiet weekday, that in the middle of winter there was no mulled wine (it is on the menu/plates) and no apple strudel because the kitchen had already been closed for 10 minutes (at 4.10 pm). It's not that much of a hassle, is it? A beautiful view while drinking coke.
