In order to avoid the fireworks noise with our dogs, we spontaneously registered at the Hôtel-Restaurant Chalet Mont-Crosin to stay overnight (in our motorhome) and have New Year's Eve dinner. We got to know Felix, Vital and their team's great restaurant last fall. And even then we were impressed by the quality of their food and the attentive and friendly service. And this time we weren't disappointed either. On the contrary, we were warmly welcomed and were able to enjoy New Year's Eve in a family atmosphere and toast to the New Year together with the other guests. Even for those who didn't drink alcohol, there was a glass of delicious non-alcoholic drink to toast with. We stayed there for three nights and enjoyed another delicious meal. We can also only recommend the Engadine nut cake, which, like many other things, they make themselves. And so this was definitely not our last visit here.

We spent a few hours of sunshine on the cozy restaurant terrace on New Year's Day. We enjoyed the conversations with the friendly host and the Bünder chef's specialties.

Nice setting although close to the road. Smiling welcome. Then it gets bad. 4 adults and 2 children. A stressed out and very unsure of himself sommelier who mixes things up for nothing. Apero ok, then just fries for the 2 children instead of röschtis with and we end up at 4 with fries and our hams on the bone. It can happen, we don't say anything. The plates are not the most garnished, the fries are bathed in oil and the ham when it is not stuffed with nerves has no taste. We managed to order wine for the meal, which is already quite good. The other couple took the hunting plate. Very good but for the price (once again) would have liked to have had more to eat. Then come the desserts. The menu is tempting and we love the vanilla ice cream and meringue vermicelli. We quickly realize that there is no meringue. When we point this out to the owner (who had taken the order) she laughs and “go ask in the kitchen”. 10 minutes later, our ice cream and vermicelli are well warmed and it comes with two ridiculous meringues in the middle of a plate... Right at the same moment, under the eyes of the boss, my son finds a FROZEN wasp in his scoop of ice cream. So certainly locked in the kitchen during a previous order in the ice cream container. Once again this makes Madame smile who will “ask in the kitchen” and will not “ask us for extra for the meat”. We laugh but we would have much preferred a little word of apology (a minimum in this type of establishment). It can happen but in his place I would have been rather embarrassed than bringing back my strawberry with a poorly placed gag. Obviously the son will not be entitled to another scoop of ice cream or a little extra. We order coffees in the hope of a small gesture from the boss (you never know, stay positive!). But no, the course of action remains the same... Balance sheet 300.- for 4 adults and 2 children (no starters) for a borderline dishonest service, no business for 4 cents and plates well away from a good table. If you're looking for the wallets of stupid tourists who are just passing through and never see them again, it's almost a success. We're not passing through but at least we won't come back. I can easily imagine an ironic and/or insensitive return from the establishment, rather than questioning itself a minimum and improving. No point in asking us to come back, our hearts wouldn't be in it. We can all make mistakes, it's human, but we accept them. Best regards. Ps: I warded off fate this Wednesday by eating a really nice plate, well garnished with real ham on the bone with beautiful homemade and seasoned fries for 1/3 of the price less than yours.
