House of Spice in Rapperswil-Jona

It's nice that the former “Spanish wine hall” is open again. The restaurant has been refreshed and is very pleasant. We liked the food (pakora, tandoori prawns). Next time we would like to order it a little spicier. We cannot understand the recent rating of “very spicy”. The service was top notch. The boss is present and very friendly. If you're in a hurry (e.g. over lunch), we recommend the good and attractively priced buffet. A la carte is not “fast food” and therefore not “fast service”. It suited us! Something special and unusual for us is that no alcohol is sold.

The waiter who received us seated us at the wrong table (already reserved), the order was taken incorrectly (the waiter couldn't speak German and his English was poor), the drinks were brought incorrectly, then we had to change seats (seats are extremely narrow) and waited 1 hour for our food. Unfortunately, the guests around us also had to struggle with mishaps and poor service. After 60 minutes we received a starter that we hadn't ordered (attention from the house?) and asked to take our food away (the atmosphere in the restaurant was quite unpleasant due to all the events). We waited another 30 minutes. Conclusion for me: once and never again! The naan bread was delicious! Personal note: The boss was friendly and stayed that way when several complaints came in at the same time. Personally, I was sorry because I recognized your efforts, but they were lost in the chaos of poorly structured processes. Maybe fewer seats and instead a few sound-absorbing elements (plants or bamboo partitions), clearer processes and employees who are fluent in languages, because first impressions count. ------‐----------- The visit to the House of Spice left a lasting impression. 1 star because I couldn't help it. Otherwise 0 stars. We ordered 3x butter chicken. We received a meal bathed in sugar. Very liquid and little like practically no meat. Has little to do with Indian. Delivery time ok. Communication skills: 0 Update: As compensation, the same meal was delivered to us again the next day at no cost. Very accommodating and friendly. Tastes better than last time, but there is room for improvement. So instead of 1 star, I'm giving 3 stars for the effort.

Myself and my husband enjoyed outstanding food in their new location. I felt like literally bathing in the delightful taste burst of Indian cuisine. Friendly and prompt serving of meals. We totally loooooved the experience. A definite repeat visit. ❤️

Starter mix was horribly overpriced for its size. Sides are not included in the price. The service was also very slow. But the food tastes really good. And the staff was kind and friendly.

Food is ok. Chicken tough. Waited a long time to eat (with only two other guests!). Unfortunately the price performance is not right at all. At 35.00 without drinks at lunch I expect more

Ok, it's not the nicest Indian Redsaurant I've ever been to, but I think they're moving? But I was very, very pleasantly touched by the great friendliness, politeness and generosity of the employees and owners. But the food was really very good and tasted like it was on the beach in Goa. Just had holiday feelings. I'll definitely come back when I'm nearby. Extremely fair prices at lunchtime, a la card expensive as usual but I treated myself and didn't regret it. Thank you 👍

Very fine main course. There are also many vegetarian dishes. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere was also very good and cozy. The dessert (mango sorbet) was not to our liking. Weird color and weird consistency. But the lassi was very tasty😊👍🏼 The price was completely okay. Gladly again.😊

I'm sorry, but the food really wasn't good. I've ordered or eaten Indian food so many times but unfortunately the food there didn't come close at all. The chicken tikka masala was very cumin heavy and the sauce was very chunky with tomatoes, not creamy, the chicken was ok... but not as tender as you would expect. The chickpea salad was so sweet... I have no idea what they put in the sauce. The garlic naan bread was full of cilantro and was so hard and dry that it tasted like old pizza dough. For 96.00 CHF the food was really bad.

Do not order for delivery in this place, it’s simply a joke. We called at 11am to have the food at our place at 12:15. They didn’t call us that they were being late. They didn’t pick up the phone for a long while, and when they did they said the food would be it our place in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later we call and they said another 10 minutes. 1h and 10 minutes later, still no food. Once we got it, there was no excuse, just “I’m sorry I’m the delivery guy, complain to this number”. Maybe the place is nice, but just don’t order to get the food delivered because it might arrive the next day. Terrible management.

Everything about House of Spice is 5/5. It's a perfect evening every time I eat there. I ate there with my date and it was too spicy for her and we got free yogurt. The food has always been great so far! In quantity, quality and taste. The staff is polite and friendly. The price is definitely worth it!

The food was delicious. We were served additional rice and curry by the owner. Service was friendly and very respectful. Inside the restaurant it was a little tight but very cozy. My favorite was the choices of different curries. I liked that it was not too spicy (for Swiss people) but if you like it hot, just ask - they will prepare it authentically.

This is the second time I've come there and I don't fail to stop by every time I come to Switzerland. The food is abundant and of good quality. I particularly appreciated the different variations of chicken recipes offered. The atmosphere is really warm with magnificent decoration and a very friendly welcome. For those who love Indian cuisine or who wish to discover it and who pass near Rapperswil, I invite you to take a look. You will not be disappointed !

We ordered takeout here last night and the food was delicious and the gent that delivered it was very friendly. The butter chicken is so good that I’m literally ordering another portion tonight. Highly recommend the dishes we had!

Excellent Indian restaurant !! We were traveling to Interlaken from Saint Moritz & what a refreshing place it was ! Mr Abdul was very cordial and prepared our food even before we reached, so that it was ready by the time we reached the hotel. Lots of vegetarian options as well.Highly recommended.

Really good Indian. The food was really special and unusual with lots of vegetarian options. The service was extremely friendly and the location was also very comfortable (although a bit cramped and loud). I eat a lot of Indian food and this was definitely one of the better restis. Clear recommendation, I'll be back :)

Awful experience with takeaway. Took more than 2 hours with no apologies. When I complained through JustEat they outright lied to them to say that they had offered me compensation when they most definitely had not.

We ate in the restaurant there and the food was average. The lamb meat was full of tendons. In my opinion, the quality of the meat was inferior and the price was exorbitant. The chai tea was only a bag, not even homemade and the price was too expensive. I will never go to this restaurant again. not recommendable .

Incredibly delicious food in a great atmosphere. We've been there several times now and there's always something new to discover :) If desired, the sharpness can also be adjusted to the original Indian level. Without notice it is somewhat toned down for the European clientele. ;)

Expensive for what you get. But the buttermilk chicken was delicious! But for 29.- the 6 pieces of chicken were simply too expensive and the side dish is not included! The boss drove away while we were eating and when we wanted to pay the rest of the staff couldn't do it... so we had to wait until he came back.

The food was prepared very tasty. There is a large number of delicious dishes, so every guest will be able to satisfy their wishes. However, the side dishes such as rice, naan or roti must be ordered separately. Prices rise accordingly. That's why 4* or 5*. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The feel-good factor is right.

Unfortunately I have to revise my very good rating that I gave 7 months ago. Previously 4 stars, now 1 star. For what reason? We have been absolutely thrilled with the food so far. We visited the restaurant several times and made several home deliveries. Today, April 24, 2022, we ordered again and were looking forward to delicious dishes. Once Chicken Korma, once Tandoori and once Butter Chicken. Unfortunately the delivery came much too late (after approx. 2 hours and 20 minutes!!!). The food looked like watery ready-made sauce and unfortunately it tasted like absolutely nothing. Nothing house of spice, boring watery sauces. We bought something from this seller for the last time today.
