Im Plätz in Glarus

Almost end of season. Garden already closed and shady.

Because of the sign “cash only” we decided not to enter the area. If you were more interested in the guests than in your own stubbornness, they would have invested the time invested in designing this sign in ordering, for example, a SumUp terminal for a few francs, and could now accept all cards for a 1.5% fee. If that's too much for you, I certainly won't pay catering prices.

Very nice, homely restaurant with a beautiful terrace in the countryside and free parking spaces between the mountains and the lake. Pure nature. I really liked it. You can relax really well in the Klöntal and at the Klöntalersee. Friendly staff great service. Finer large ice cream. You can walk or hike in the green landscape, always a restaurant, the lake, etc. Simply a fantastic escape from everyday life. Campsite nearby.... I'll definitely come back to switch off from everyday life and the hustle and bustle...

We have been to this restaurant several times. The staff is very friendly and personable. There is a great and cozy garden seating area and on the weekend there was even live music and a great atmosphere!

Wanted 5 francs!! for charging my e-bike battery while I consume it. At first I thought it was a Glarner joke? The landlady (?) barked: "I don't get the electricity for free either, I could go..." Terrible place, terrible staff

Nice decor of the restaurant, the homemade cordon bleu was very good (be careful with the toothpick). Only accepts cash! Indeed there was no network at the restaurant so you have been warned ;-). We took the walk on the left side of the lake and a nice surprise to find this restaurant at the end of the lake. There is a smoking room for the bar but fortunately you can eat in another room. The restaurant is family-run and regarding the hospitality of the servers, you are in a little corner of Swiss-German...the waitress was professional, that's the most important thing! Bus stop right next door, very convenient for returning to Glarus.

The friendly “Welcome” written at the entrance was probably meant ironically. We came in the door - without a greeting we were barked at as follows - "There is only one table left in the smoking section and if that doesn't suit you, you can go somewhere else". As I said, this is what I did and I will continue to do so in the future.

Very restricted service now as they do not have enough personnel. When we arrived just past lunch time most of the tables were reserved and hence we had to share a table with others. The menu had two dishes to choose from. And the service was as slow as molasses. I understand the problem but I cannot give more than 2 stars under such conditions. Sorry!

We always really enjoy being in the “Plätz” (as we say ;-)). It's great for hiking, but we always go because of the relaxed atmosphere that we love so much. Very fine cuisine and super nice service. We always have cash with us when we go into the mountains, so it's no problem that "only" cash is accepted. See you soon...

Traditional pub with a beautiful hall (non-smoking) and an even more beautiful garden restaurant. Super nice staff, excellent food and large portions. You get something for your money. Speaking of money, it's clear to me that I bring cash with me when I travel to the mountains. So it's absolutely no problem for me that only cash is accepted. Contrary to other reports, I had rather little network, which probably has to do with the number of cell phones that are in the Klöntal. I also inquired that the landline/mobile phone network in the Klöntal is not stable enough to be able to guarantee card payments at any time. Therefore, it is understandable to me that the innkeepers do not offer this service on a “random basis”. We will remember the Gasthaus Klöntal Plätz and we will definitely come back. See you soon...

Staff is unfriendly and slow. They said cash only due to missing "net". However, there was a good mobile reception. We left.

Super nice service, great, delicious food and a breathtaking view! We had super delicious cheese and a bacon platter...excellent!!! Little tip: It's best to always have cash with you 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Unfortunately, you can't use a card!

Had a Cordonbleu with salad... both tasted like convenience food (salad from bag, sauce from bottle). The service was slow and quite grumpy and best of all: cash only... we are in 2021 and you insist on cash?

Came hungry and thirsty from the Vrenelisgärtli and were treated very friendly, quickly and well. The food was very good, large portions and reasonably priced. Rustic garden restaurant, grilling takes place outside.

Family restaurant in the middle of beautiful nature. Friendly and quick service. Good and cheap food with generous portions. The post bus stops right in front of it and there are also free parking spaces.

The Cordon Bleu was great and so was the size of the portions; However, a very small menu with only “green” salad... this only consisted of iceberg lettuce stuffed into a dish (the way it was cut; not even loosened) and half a wedge of tomato... very careless! I also always think it's a shame when people don't focus on regionality; I had to drink “Valser Wasser” because there was no “Elmer Mineral”... and you can't pay by card, which is almost non-existent these days; very backwards! therefore only 2 stars

The scenery is good. The serving is large and looks good. The Cordon Bleu tastes actually good (not the best but pretty good). However the oil for the fries was way too old and we had toothpicks (many) well hidden inside each of our 4 Cordon Bleu, served without even a single warning. Here's what was in mine. Serving was prompt but not very friendly. I think without these very important issues the rating would be a lot higher.
