Order was canceled after waiting half an hour, even though ordered during order times. Impossible.

We ordered the experience menu for 2 people (CHF46/person), price on the higher side. The food was very varied and tasted hearty. The menu included meat but a vegetarian or vegan alternative was also possible. Elderflower syrup is also recommended. This plate is completely sufficient for 2 people. It was possible to order the injera (bread) during the meal. What we didn't like was the kitfo (tartar dish). The salad was some of the best on the plate, the sauce was a bit spicy but edible even for the sensitive. The food didn't feel heavy in the stomach. Injera is recommended if you want to get an insight into Ethiopian cuisine.

The two of us had a vegetarian tasting menu + the starter for 2. Starter: 2 dumplings similar to samosa + salad. Pretty tasty, relatively small portion. Tasting menu. Baileys coffee is delicious but only in a small coffee cup, not specially prepared. Conclusion: good and solid for once but not sure if we will eat here again.

That said, I’ve eaten Ethiopian food in restaurants around the world, including in Geneva, which would be the closest comparator to Injera, and I must say that the portions of food served here at Injera are ridiculously small, or there must have been a colossal billing error. We were charged CHF 72 for a combination platter for two. We left this restaurant stunned and hungry for the first time in our lives after our meal. Given the cost price of the meal (spinach, cabbage, carrots, lentils, two slices of chicken and lamb) we shouldn’t have had to struggle to share what we were given. I’d say we were at best charged mistakenly for two portions instead of one, or, at worst, ripped off with the barest face and charm we’ve experienced in a while.

We discovered this restaurant today. The welcome is very good and friendly. But the price of the meal is greatly exaggerated compared to the quantity. We had to ask for extras several times to get enough. But it comes with a very small portion! I find this bordering on disrespect. Too bad, because the food itself was good.

The spices, the food and the Tej are homemade and taste fantastic. The service is very welcoming, helpful and kind. Our waiter helped us pick the right menu and made sure that we were happy with every meal we got served (quality and quantity wise). We had a great time and will come again when in Berne.
