Nice viewpoint and restaurant to linger and take a walk to the grotto. I visited this little gem over 45 years ago. It was always a nice walk from the campsite in Mammern to the Klingenzellerhof, and I enjoyed the view of the lake towards Germany.

Until the kitchen is ready, we enjoy the wide panorama of the Lower Lake far downstream of the Rhine with a bottle of non-alcoholic “juice”. Note: Dogs are allowed here. The Bernese Mountain dog that belongs to the restaurant has a calm and trusting character. Contrary to some reviews, which I have of course also read, the service was, as already mentioned at the beginning, very good, courteous and prompt. Especially the one on the beautifully presented, really hot plate, a cognac steak with French fries and various vegetables, was just right for me in terms of quantity. The crisp, fresh mixed salad served beforehand was also excellent and not straight from the fridge. My only objection: the table is at the right height, the seating is a bit too deep, but this is quickly compensated for with enough cushions on offer. Good five stars from me.
