KOZAN restaurant japonais in Genève

I went for a baby shower a few months ago and I had a blast. The fish was really fresh, the dishes well presented and the sushi nothing to say 💓💓 One of the best Japanese restaurants 👌👌

Kozan is in no uncertain terms the best Japanese restaurant in Geneva, but this is not doing it justice, because it is one of the best Japanese eateries I have experienced outside of Japan. The quality of the food and the authenticity of the dishes is mind-blowing! If you like authentic Japanese food prepared by a connoisseur, don’t wait - Run to Kozan! 😋♥️

Exceptional sushi place. The sushi chef is extremely expert and the fish is top quality. I’ve been for lunch and dinner many times. Highly recommend but given popularity better to make a reservation in advance!

Kozan is a culinary experience that saves you a Geneva-Tokyo return ticket. Reserve seats at the bar (very important, I assure you that eating at the table will take away a magical side) and let chef Mashida guide you through his know-how and the culinary culture of his country of origin. His kindness and humility are reflected in his cuisine, which is both simple and elaborate but above all delicate and obviously sensational. Chef Mashida came to offer us Genevans the opportunity to make our taste buds dance. It gives new meaning to the word catering by putting the chef back in the middle of his kitchen without taking up too much space. Apart from Sushi (yes with a capital S), his wife's dishes are delicious, I particularly recommend the tamago, infinitely umami. As for service, in Geneva we suffer from an epidemic of bad service, not friendly, too fast, not communicative... This is partly due to the fact that tipping is not part of our culture and therefore the Waiters don't get a "reward" if they do their job very well. At Kozan you feel like you're in the United States or Canada. The waitresses are smiling and friendly, carry out their jobs surgically, and sell cuisine that they love and admire. A special congratulations to Carla and Karen who are truly competent and ultra-qualified professionals. Thank you Mashida-san, Thank you.

I stopped by for dinner around 8:15pm on a week day. While there were a few tables empty and it was a week day, plus google was showing they close at 10:30, they refused to seat me saying they are full. I offered waiting and they say no wait. Apparently they wanted to close early. It is fine but please put that on google. I walked almost 40 min and ended up not getting in. Customer respect and honesty are core values in any authentic Japanese restaurant. This one lacks both. If you are seeking an authentic Japanese restaurant, this is surely the wrong place for you.

This place is 10/10 every single time! Chef Hiroshi Machida only sources the best and freshest ingredients and never disappoints. We appreciate him so much that we even followed him at each restaurant he has worked at. Thank you for bringing authentic Japanese cuisine to Geneva.

You can eat rice just like you would in Japan. The sushi was delicious and I was very satisfied with the cold green tea. It was air conditioned so it was comfortable even on a very hot day.

Great sushi! The toro is always amazing, the ebi tempura too. I love the gyudon, it's always a great pleasure when they have it for the daily menu. We've been coming here for years, and it never disappoints!

Disappointment in terms of quality and taste. The bluefin tuna sashimi was slightly sour, probably wasn't fresh enough. The salmon was basic quality, little taste. The tempura breading was a bit mushy, not crispy and light enough. The eel was strong in flavor but became tiring after a few bites. Let's be clear, it's not bad. But we paid 150 CHF for 2 people for lunch. At this price we expect much higher quality.

This restaurant is absolutely incredible. The food is authentic and prepared with high quality ingredients. Friendly yet professional service as well! Perfect attention to detail whilst remaining true to Japanese authenticity/simplicity!

Incredible Japanese restaurant where you can order both a la carte and set menus. I would highly suggest trying the menus as all the dishes are amazingly balanced. The fish is of a very high quality and the selection of wines is very good with a range of options. We've been there 3 times now and every time has been wonderful. In short, highly recommended.

I have already been here twice. The food is great and the fish literally melts in your mouth. I would definitely recommend and will be coming back again and again.

I chose the menu for 70 chf. Apart from the platter of 10 sushis, these are mostly mini items but good ones. The fish in the sushi is very good but the rice is just way too acidic. There was just too much rice vinegar. Damage. I couldn't eat my fill. I find that their lunch menu is much more reasonable in terms of quality and portion price than in the evening!

Went there for a special celebration. I ordered the 70 CHF, my partner the 100CHF one. Food and service was excellent but even considering the quality it felt too expensive. My miso soup wasn’t very hot, the edamame portion was generous but not so much the tempura. For dessert we only had options between ice cream and sorbet, in summer it’s fine but I was expecting to have more choice. The restaurant also lacks some nice decoration and atmosphere. Overall nice experience but it could be better!

A wonderful time spent at Kozan. The sushi master is just exceptional! You have to think about booking because it is often full (the owners prioritize the quality of the products over the quantity of customers).

The food is delicious!! Really fresh and tasty. If you have a chance you can sit infront of the chef and see him making the sushis.

Sushis are ok but the price is totally exaggerated. We ordered 20 pieces for more than 100chf. The quality isn’t worth the money.

It might be the most delicious sushi in Switzerland! It's amazing that you can get such high quality ingredients! However, the customer service is not so good. There were a few things I thought were wrong with it, and I was a little disappointed. But next time I would like to enjoy it at the counter.

I went there with my kids (0-3 years old) and they gave us a private room which we could relax and everyone enjoyed their amazing food! Many Japanese people and the Mission in Geneva go to this place. We highly recommend this place for the real Japanese food in Geneva!

The food is very fine and very tasty. We took a menu which allowed us to enjoy several dishes. Well done to the cook. However, disappointment regarding the atmosphere of the dining room: the decoration is not at all elaborate, it is totally impersonal and cold. The tables and chairs are similar to those in a cafeteria. And big disappointment because some dishes are served in plastic dishes: when you take a menu for 100 francs per person, you don't expect to eat the soup with a plastic bowl and spoon.

Restaurant which is NOT OPEN FOR ONE PERSON I visited this restaurant today 01.10.2021 around 2015 to have dinner. I was denied entry because I WAS ALONE even though there were places by the bar and couple of tables for 2 available. I was told that by the bar is not allowed because chef is working there, so why do they have places there? I live in Geneva and work near the restaurant. I would have visited the restaurant with my colleagues, friends and family in the future if I had an opportunity to try this time. I wish the restaurant management and staff a great success.

Pleasant setting with good service. Prices are very high, but normal for Japanese food in Geneva. Food is ok, and I've never had a problem. However, it is very mediocre. Salmon roe today was flavourless and the sushi only reached the level of acceptable, for example. Chirashi sushi was not the bara chirashi that I was hoping for, but rather was rice on one side with a small piece of unagi on top and mediocre sashimi on a separate plate. 3 stars holding this restaurant against the standard of restaurants in Japan, which is admittedly a high standard.

Quite simply the best sushi in Geneva, a real taste of Japan! The rice is perfect and the fish or seafood is exquisite and remarkably fresh! Everything is perfectly mastered. The rest is also exceptional (preference for the Hida menu), and it is always an incredible pleasure to eat the dishes of Chef Machida and his team. I warmly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to taste real sushi and discover the true tastes of Japan!

Kozan, on y va pour la maestria du sushi chef et pour la gentillesse du personnel. La qualité des matières premières - poissons et fruits de mer, riz...- associée à la technique et à la présentation provoque une émotion divine. Best japanese in town, by far. Otoro and aburi salmon were astonishing, never had that fish quality anywhere outside of Japan. Tako karaage was also brilliant, reminded me of good old Tsubohachi. Sake selection is also really good, some of the very best quality/price you can find (not the usual brands you can find everywhere). Obviously not cheap in the end but very well worth it, highly recommended. Otsukaresama!

Enjoyed our stay at Kozan. The Sushis are really well done. You can definitely taste the difference between average traditional sushis and authentic japanese ones. Geneva is lucky to have Kozan amongst them :). Will definitely return.
