La Baracca in Luzern

Food is really mid. Like, it is OK, but what’s the point of going to a restaurant and paying loads to get food that is just that, ‘OK’? Price to performance is not there. Pizza was disappointing. While I’m at it: Restaurant is too dark. Hence, I would not recommend. The reason for the 1* review: I got to see the manager lady be mean to her employees. Always a disheartening experience when you see people working and getting treated badly. I was there once, getting treated badly. If you are a manager, and work with employees in a restaurant, why choose to be a mean manager?

Very well maintained restaurant. Pizzas are very good. Friendly staff. Wines by the glass are only available in bottle quality. Prices for half a liter are between 35 and 42 francs. Too expensive !!!

Really very good Italian restaurant. For starters we had bruschetta and an antipasti platter. What I can't understand is that as a guest I have to put the tomatoes on the bread myself... The main courses of pizza, lasagna and a hit of the day were good. The pasta in the Parmesan body had a little too much whiskey and the Parmesan shavings were a little too coarse. All in all it was really good. The service at the table was a bit rare and drinks were cleared away but people were not asked directly whether they would like to drink again. Therefore the service can certainly be improved.

Very solid, food was good, service ok but not outstanding. I wasn't really impressed with the decor, but it's a matter of taste.

Food, service and ambience were actually quite OK. However, even though we had reserved in advance, we had to wait almost 90 minutes between the starter and the main course because of a larger group of guests who had arrived after us, ... for three pizzas and three pasta dishes.

Before I just say something: I have completed training in the kitchen! I ordered bruschetta for 2 people; what has come? 3 small rolls but really small. Secondly, we waited 15-20 minutes for water and wine. In addition, there was a cat in the restaurant that ran around on our feet! What's that supposed to mean ? This is not hygienic at all! I was there for the first and last time

We ordered the whole wheat pizza with truffle. I have rarely eaten such a great tasting pizza with an airy, crispy edge. It really was perfect. Big compliments to the pizzaiolo... Really great

Racist. That one word describes our experience. Maybe they don’t serve non whites. We were made to sit at the side when there were tables free at the front. The lady then disappeared. Didn’t come back to take our order even after 30 minutes even though the restaurant was almost empty by then. Disgusted, we walked out. She saw us leave but pretended not to. Spoilt our otherwise wonderful Swiss experience. Amazed that such eateries and “hosts” still exist.

Food was good. Price of wine was ridiculous (cheapest was £50 for a bottle) so forced to stick to beer. Long and unnecessary wait for desert was disappointing

The pizza was as good as any we have had in Italy, if not better. The egg in the calzone was a little undercooked, but still tasty

Difficult... very bland outside, beer had hardly any carbonation, food was ok, the price would be very attractive over lunch, salad even if it was swimming in sauce, and dessert were included, unfortunately it wasn't really noted. That's why I chose the Bruscetta, which was a mistake in two respects, firstly it wasn't really good and secondly the salad would have been included in the lunch menu. Hence a short 3 stars.

Nice atmosphere outside, service very attentive and friendly. Pricing policy very questionable: Pizza CHF 24, that's OK but the pizza was only moderately well topped and really nothing special. The price of an espresso is exaggerated: 5.2 CHF - I'm sorry, that's too much even for Lucerne. So we won't be coming anymore.

This is my second time in Lucerne and my second time in this place. I can confidently say that next time I return, I will eat here again. The pizzas are fantastic. This time I took the 'Raw ham, rocket and parmesan'. It was delicious and filling. IMPORTANT: Book a table. It is very popular and booking is important.

I've had gluten-free pizza there several times and it was really good. I just find it strange that sometimes they say they offer it and sometimes they don't. When I repeat several times that I have already eaten it with them, the staff always has to ask and comes back with different answers each time. I'm wondering whether the pizzas I've had so far have really been gluten-free or whether they always change the offer at short notice.

Great location, a short walk from the station and the KKL concert venue, and practically opposite the Theater Luzern, perfect for a pre-show dinner. The service was friendly, attentive and fast. The pizza was cooked to perfection!!!

Great food, well worth the visit

Took a while to get a table, they charge for tap water 2 CHF and if you want to share food they charge you 5 CHF per person. Pizza was alright.

On a trip today I stopped at the Pizzeria La Baracca for lunch. The inexpensive menu tasted great. The service was friendly. The espresso was also good, but the price was a bit expensive at CHF 5.20!

Fine pizza made from airy dough. Pleasant, modern atmosphere where even a single feels comfortable. Friendly attentive service. Will come again.

1.Service There is a story of racism in the review, and Suisse people are not friendly by nature. I felt that Switzerland was quite friendly. I ordered and paid for the male and female employees separately, but I think they were friendly at this level. 2.Taste After reading the review, I ordered Diavola, Margherita pizza and coca&bier. It was the most delicious food I had in Paris, Suisse, Italy. The beer was also great. I was always disappointed when I ordered pizza in Europe. In a way, this is Korean style. Haha.

The pizza was as good as any pizza we had in Italy, if not better. The egg inside the calzone was a little undercooked, but otherwise was tasty. If you're sitting outside and have a water bottle, just fill up with the fountain water rather than paying for restaurant tap water..

Adequate prices, and good lunch menu

Very good location, within easy walking distance to the station and the KKL concert venue, as well as practically opposite the Theater Luzern, making it a perfect spot for a pre-show dinner. Service was friendly, very attentive and prompt. Pizza was cooked to perfection. One slight irritation was that the online reservation was not automated, i.e. I had to wait for a confirmation e-mail within around 24 hours. Nowadays I would expect this process to be fully automated and get an instant confirmation from the system. But this took nothing away from our dining experience. Can definitely recommend!

Pleasant time and hearty meal, I highly recommend. A small pie was offered at the end, very nice of them, the waitresses are smiling and kind. We had pizza and pasta with espresso and water.

Nothing to complain about for the welcome and the service, served very quickly. However, we took two pizzas which we found uninteresting, no pleasure to eat, no taste. (We are still surprised by so many good comments)

Cozy restaurant with a great ambience. Very quiet thanks to the beautiful acoustic ceiling. Unfortunately, only half of the table was served food at first, the rest waited another 15 minutes. We waited a long time to collect and the service staff made a huge mess. Potential for improvement!

Really wonderful restaurant! Even though we didn't had reservation, our food was delivered on the table incredibly quick. This is real authentic Italian restaurant as well, I have to say, pizza is amazing! Incredibly quality done. Ambient is lovely as well and the people are extremely professional and kind. Anytime, if you find yourself in Luzern, this is a place to go. 😊 10/10!

Very nice discovery last evening during our stay in Lucerne. The decoration, the setting is very pretty and the flavors on the plates are exceptional. A big congratulations

If you only order pizza, you will be asked if 'that's all'. Pizza in itself is good, but very pricey: 2x pizza, 4 mini glasses of wine and 2 coffees for €150 is a bit of a steep price.

The food was disappointing for this price category. There is the impression that the ingredients were saved. A pizza with eggplant that has to be looked for, a tuna tartare with avocado that only had small dabs of avocado cream on the plate and overall seemed very minimal and a lemon sorbet with vodka that felt like it had no alcohol, are our impressions. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff were attentive and friendly despite the large number of visitors. There won't be a second time for us.

The atmosphere in this store was perfect! We felt very comfortable. Although there were a few families with small children there, the noise was more than pleasant. All I can say about the operation is: IT CAN'T BE BETTER! She was a courteous and friendly lady. Her service made our stay even more enjoyable. The food was very tasty (especially... the cheesecake 🤤). I can more than recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Italian food.

Very nice restaurant with good food. However, the staff was always stressed and rather rude. There was a stressed atmosphere that didn't invite you to linger.

Because of the number of people, we had to wait a long time for our pizzas (over 1.5 hours). However, the staff and the boss were very sensitive to us. The discount and the free coffee saved our evening a little. The pizzas were very tasty!

The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious and not too salty. Diavolo is like European spicy, but I can't eat spicy food in Korea, so it's not that spicy. I thought we would be full if we ate two menu items, but the portions were just right.

We often went to la Baracca. In my opinion, the lunch menus are very attractive in terms of quality and price. These are always served with salad or soup and often with a small dessert. Admittedly, there was a (short) period of time when the service deteriorated somewhat, but this issue has long since been corrected and is now completely back to normal. I like going there - whether for a business lunch or a family dinner.

on December 31st with the table booked days before, we were at the door for at least 10 minutes without anyone deigning to take us to the table. Even arrogant staff (an oriental lady who makes you think that the management has changed despite leaving the website as before) and the second time we asked and received an answer with a wave of the hand like...stay there and wait...we are gone away. This is my second time visiting Lucerne and my second time eating at this place. It is safe to say, the next time I come back, I will eat here again. Yes, it is, that good! The Pizzas are my go-to, and they are fantastic. This time around I went for the ‘Prosciutto crudo, rucola e grana’ for CHF 26.-. It was so filling and sooo delicious. The staff are very friendly and although this is the Swiss German side of Switzerland, everyone knows English and most likely another two other languages too. IMPORTANT: Make sure you book a table. This is a very popular spot, and table booking is important.

Lovely meal with friends. Had to wait a while for a table but we hadn’t booked so that was fine. Also was a wait for the pizza but it was worth it as the food was delicious. I had the Mare e Monte (26.50 Tomatoes, mozzarella, prawns, porcini mushrooms, garlic and rocket) it was requested without cheese and still tasted absolutely amazing. Would recommend 👍🏼⭐️

I had a pizza that tasted very good. The dough wasn't necessarily very thin but it was tasty. The staff was friendly, even when the restaurant was busy.

Very friendly and professional service, unfortunately the food was a bit average, except for the pizza. Pumpkin croquettes only tasted like they were fried, eggplant involtini were unfortunately also fried and risotto was a bit too salty. But all in all, still a pleasant experience.

Unfortunately the friendliness seems to have been lost. Online reservations keep getting lost. A pity.!

The food was very good, beautifully prepared and the ambience was also great. Unfortunately our first service was terrible. She was able to get a drink order of 2! Not carrying out drinks correctly, brought us the wrong thing 3 times, got angry when we intervened and then put the drinks on the table the 4th time, totally annoyed. Then we had to wait over an hour to order our food. We then asked for another service, which was great. The food came very quickly. At the end our first waitress made us pay 4.- for the tap water, even though we had eaten and drank a lot of money for 5t.

The food is ok, but nothing special. The parking lot is near the place. But the waitress we got was a disaster. you feel like you are in a chaotic market, we tried to order for 40 minutes and we repeated the same thing at least 4 times. and you have to check the bill afterwards. we were surprised by this chaos.

we went on Saturday evening with friends and everything was good. the excellent service in particular with Mrs. Maria was always at our disposal even if the restaurant was full I highly recommend it
