Enjoyed a fine break on Sunday in Peniche. It has lots of local delicacies. Warm things such as hash browns and scrambled eggs can be ordered for an additional charge. Simple/clear but good. Price/performance ok

The waiters don't speak a word of French, yet chocolate cake seems easy to understand...(no effort). Quite shameful for a restaurant which is in a town with 20% French speakers. Still sensational! Ate at La Péniche again after years and I was surprised. Location and ambience harmonious, harmonious and charming. The welcome was very friendly. Bad service, we are spoken to badly. The waitress told the bartender, put some lemon and a mint leaf, they have to be paid for, what do they think the service is not free, even though we were coming to eat.

We ate here with a large group. For dessert we were mistakenly served one too many coffees that we hadn't ordered. Unfortunately, the service staff were unreasonable and didn't want to take the coffee back. It's incomprehensible to me that a restaurant has to insist on paying around 5 francs despite mistakes made by the service staff. Especially when you consume something for a few hundred francs. Sure, the 5 francs didn't ruin us, but it's just a matter of principle. Therefore 2 stars instead of 4 because of the lack of hospitality.

This was our second time eating here and we weren't disappointed this time either: The food tasted excellent, as did the aperitifs we had at the beginning. The service was attentive and polite. And the ambience is simply unique. We had a table right by the window, which was closest to the lake. We'd love to come back!

Being regularly in Biel, I love to eat at the Péniche. Excellent food, friendly and efficient service and the Bielersee is just so near. Worth visiting.

Very unfriendly staff! After we ate, we were asked again if we wanted to order anything else. When we said no because we had just eaten breakfast, we were looked at reproachfully. Later we were banned from smoking, although there were ashtrays on the tables everywhere. At some point the boss came to us and made it clear that they had done everything so that we could do what we wanted, but they were full and we had to leave the restaurant now. ARE YOU CRAZY??? There were still other tables available. We will never come to this terribly unfriendly restaurant again!!

Beautiful place on Lake Biel in early to late summer (but not among the most beautiful). Self service area (outside) is really overpriced. Serviced area better (outside), although not excessively fast. From around 6:30 p.m., all guests in the served area (who are not eating) will be asked to leave the table by 7:00 p.m. because it is reserved. We remained resistant despite blunt requests from the staff. No one came until 7:30 p.m., then someone came to eat at the other end of the (large) table. Apparently all drinkers are “asked” to go to the self-service area from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the latest. At 7:35 p.m., however, 2/3 of the (served) tables were still free. The whole thing could be communicatively regulated much more elegantly and, above all, more efficiently, so that EVERYONE comes to your extensive aperitif stress-free! This should above all be a suggestion!!

Very good restaurant, eating is a delight. However, you must book in advance because it is often full. There is also a terrace which is very pleasant and a children's park.

The food was very good, the staff was very friendly, the location and the ambience were great. Unfortunately 1 star deducted for the time management. When we ordered the aperitif, we already knew what we wanted to eat and drink and ordered it straight away. That was a mistake because everything was served within a very short time. Which is actually better than waiting hours for food, but the aperitif was then practically converted into a dessert wine because a white wine goes better with fish than a cocktail. That was a shame, because the hectic pace ruined the comfort for a short time. But overall it was a great evening and I can definitely recommend the restaurant. If you want to enjoy your aperitif, be sure to order the food later 😉

The prices are really excessive for what is on the plate and taste level. Don't take the drinks: Péniche Spritz and homemade cold tea, too sweet, diabetes guaranteed. Service: Ask 3x to get a drinks card. We asked for fries instead of gnocchi, that was not taken into account.
