I can wholeheartedly recommend the Styrian landlady Elenore. Price/performance ratio is great. The dishes are cooked fresh and with a lot of Styrian love by the landlady herself. Warm service with charm. We were in a group of 8 people for lunch at the country inn and we all ate very well. We had semolina dumplings soup, salad, Styrian steak à la Eleonore, cordon bleu, chanterelles with bread dumplings, Kasspotzn in the pan. All menus tasted excellent. I have celiac disease and Eleonore gave me professional advice. I felt very safe. A lot of things are possible without gluten, even the breaded schnitzel, fried chicken, cordon bleu, as gluten-free breadcrumbs are available and the deep fryer was cleaned especially for me and fresh oil was used. I chose a fried chicken with parsley potatoes. The food is beautifully prepared and I can recommend a visit to the Steirerwirtin to anyone who wants to eat well and loves Austrian cuisine.

Visually the dishes looked good, but I would have expected more in terms of taste. Price-performance ratio could be better. In terms of price, it's a bit expensive compared to similar restaurants with the same offerings.

A very upbeat and easy-going, child-loving hostess who fully lives out her calling. We made a reservation, mentioning that we had a small child with us and, of course, a painting set was available. The dishes are very freshly prepared and really tasty. The homemade ice creams are wonderful. No overstimulation of artificial ingredients, just a natural taste. The interior is bright and warm and you quickly feel at home.

The menu on the website does not correspond to the menu that is given to you on site. We came on Sunday afternoon and wanted one of the highly praised schnitzels. The choice was simple...there was only one schnitzel on the menu...for 38 francs...WITHOUT any side dishes. You can purchase fries for an additional 6 francs. With all due respect... no Schnipo can be so good that I pay so much in a garden restaurant under a small parasol that fell over at the slightest gust of wind, nowhere in Appenzeller without a view. Instead of chocolate, you get a homemade brew with lots of ingredients in it... without asking whether you want it or not. In our opinion, absolutely overrated and therefore not recommended

It was okay, but we expected a little more.

We spent a truly unique evening in this friendly restaurant. The warmth of the host couple and the excellent cuisine gave us a wonderful Saturday evening. From the semolina dumpling soup to the wonderful Styrian steak, but also the schnitzel with pumpkin seed breading were simply first class. Finally, the homemade pumpkin seed ice cream (the ice cream menu is awesome!) and a Zirbler... that's how "happiness" works! It's definitely not the last time we've been there - I understand what's on offer there as real hospitality!
