Schnipo what a cheek, 44.90 for pork and box of fries, phew. Coronation 2x water 1 liter 20.40.- Hands off. Just food and water 220.- Never again

How this place can have 4.3 stars, I can't believe... I went there to taste the famous Swiss dish 'fondue'. The waiter and the manager were so rude and I think they are Racist to Indians! My sister, my brother and I wanted to try the famous swiss fondue but they had problem with my parents sitting there since they were not eating. So we ordered 1 fondue for us and a drink for my father but when asked for some water for that drink, they even charged us for that (in a country where tap water is drinkable). The story doesn’t end here, they charged us for 3 fondues which we returned by the way (worst fondue ever). We protested and paid for 1 fondue, water and the drink but even after paying- The old lady was asking the waiter to kick us out. My family and I had to face this embarrassment and leave in front of the entire restaurant. Hope they learn to treat people right! I would not recommend this reastaurant to any Indian at all... There are so many other places to try Swiss food.

This store is located in a quiet residential area. When I entered the store around 6:30 PM, there was There were quite a few people who appeared to be local residents and tourists. I was first attracted to the cozy atmosphere. I felt good because the old lady owner gave me friendly guidance. As soon as I first got the menu, there were so many varieties. I was confused, but if you flip to the back page, there is an English menu. The schnitzel is really thick and delicious! And I had the basic and mushroom version of the rösti that everyone told me to try. It was a potato pancake and it was so delicious! Basically, you can really taste the taste of potato pancakes. The mushrooms were delicious, but the sauce made the bottom soggy so it didn't taste like potato pancakes. A sausage is literally a sausage~ Koreans can be a bit salty. I only ordered cheese fondue for one person. The wine had an alcoholic taste and a sweet taste, but it was much better than when I had it at other places before. Instead, don't expect much from the cheese fondue itself. Just try it as an experience… 🙂 The waiter is also very friendly. There was a lot of food so I ate it well.

We're a Korean couple! - Monday, January 8, 24 There aren't many fondue restaurants open on Mondays, so I searched everywhere and finally chose this place. I went with half expectations and half doubts, but I am very satisfied with the results!! The atmosphere is very warm and peaceful, and the waiters and the owner, like an old woman, are friendly! There are some reviews saying that the server is not that good, but there is nothing like that. I ordered fondue, rösti, and a bottle of cola, and the total cost was 59.20 francs. If you really don’t like alcohol, order fondue non-alcoholic!! We also ordered non-alcoholic, but the staff made a mistake and gave us alcoholic beverages at first, so we took a bite and it had a very strong alcohol flavor.. haha. When I told the waiter that we ordered non-alcoholic, he immediately apologized and gave us a new one!! It has a strong cheese scent and the taste is not very special, but it is worth eating!! I think the longer it boils, the more salty it becomes. There is enough bread for dipping (we took a bite and had some left over). Rösti topped with sausage, bacon, and eggs tastes like super delicious potato pancakes!! The seasoning is just right and the sausage is especially delicious. There was a rumor that cola was cheaper than water, so we just ordered a bottle of cola and shared it. If I come to Interlaken again someday, this is a place I want to visit again~^^

I wanted a good Rösti, and this place was recommended. It looked quiet from the outside, but it was actually almost full. The service was good, the staff were attentive, even though they were really busy. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, the Santas swinging from the lights made me laugh And as for the Rosti. It was great, not so much cheese, which is just the way I like it. In fact, it was almost eaten, before I remembered I hadn't taken a photo for the review. If I am back this way, I will pay a return visit.

The lantern is a guarantee for good food! No matter how busy the restaurant, the high quality of the food is maintained. The service is friendly, cheerfully attentive and simply great! Children are treated very kindly. We always enjoy being guests at the Lantern!

Best place in Interlaken for swiss food. Such lovely and kind people. What a classic atmosphere, no touristy trap stuff, authentic, real swiss food and the wait staff is just amazing. Would 100% recommend the Rösti and fondue here.

We arrived almost at lunch closing time (2pm), but we were able to get a table and have an excellent lunch. The food was delicious. My wife had the lamb entrecote with some pasta and I had the vegetarian rösti, both wonderful. We had a bottle of the Swiss Aigle les Mureilles red wine, which was very good and very reasonably priced. And the service was really wonderful, thanks to Robin, who took great care of us. If you happen to be in the Interlaken area, give Laterne a try - you will not regret it.

First of all, I have never given a meal back in my entire life, somehow I was always able to bring myself to eat what was served... but what I experienced here and how the manager of the house treated me as a guest, subterranean and not worthy of any restaurant, It would probably be time to stop catering for good! What happened? Quite simply, the four of us went out to eat and we all ordered something with a starter. Starter was ok and we wanted more... the main course came and my plate smelled so strongly of a kitchen cleaning rag that I couldn't possibly eat it. I asked my three companions to taste the plate and everyone assured me that they could taste the same terrible smell! I gathered all my courage and called the waitress and gave the plate back and asked for a new dish. Shortly afterwards the old boss came to our table and started insulting me, which is actually what I could think of. We tried to express our opinion objectively and calmly, unfortunately without success. The boss continued to gossip about me... and refused me another dinner, saying the kitchen was closed for me! I have never experienced anything so disrespectful and we will definitely never eat in this restaurant again! something like that shouldn't be supported...

My wife and I arrived at 2 PM. Asked for a table for two to have ice cream. Most of the tables were occupied. The very rood waiter shouted at me: "the kitchen is closed". I told him we're here for beverages. He was still acting and behaving in a discreminate way. I hope the management will read this review and act on it. It's very bad for besiness.

Service: Absolutely horrendous - we did not feel welcomed by the staff and they were impolite and rude. When we asked for the bill the staff said ‘Here in Switzerland we first clear up the table and then you can get the bill. Wait.’ The waiter was also quite impatient when writing up our order. We did get a thank you when we left but that was the best of service we got. Food: Food was delicious and we loved it especially the deer, cheese fondue and Rosti. However pork chop was slightly over cooked. It was on the pricier side of 50CHF per person without drinks Atmosphere: The inside is spacious and cosy. Weather was good today so we sat outside and there were so many flies around our table and food. It’s uncontrollable by the restaurant and not their fault but definitely a down side having to sho off flies and eat at the same time. Would only recommend if you want good food and could disregard the service.

I liked that you can see the mountains from the esplanade. Unfortunately, I felt like the food was average at best. I was disappointed with the schnitzel which consisted of boneless thick slice of pork chop that was breaded (not home made breaded) and frozen fries on the side. The raquelete came pre-made all melted onto the plate with some pickles. A small green salad consisted of plain lettuce and a quarter of a boiled egg with Cesar dressing. All in all everything was very plain. I was charged a separate 8 euros for some boiled vegetables and the meal cost close to 70-80 euros. I had to fetch the waiter to ask for the bill because no one came outside to check in on us. I have eaten in other places in Switzerland with higher standards when it comes to choice of fresh local ingredients, creativity and presentation. As such I left feeling like the meal was okay at best for what I paid.

I love love love the restaurant. The ambience was nice. The food was really good. We had a toddler with us so we ordered something simple so she could eat. And so we got one pork steak with vegetable and one bolognese spaghetti. They were really really nice. The pork was tender and juicy, we did not expect mich from the bolognese but it turns out quite delicious. The staff were super. One staff offered us toys so our toddler can play with. Cutlery and chair for toddler were also available. And most of all the friendly attitude even though the restaurant was quite full and they were super busy.

Nine of us came for a meal on the evening of Swiss National Day. The restaurant is lovely, traditionally Swiss. All our food was excellent. Rosti was amazing!! Unfortunately our male waiter was unfriendly, rude and miserable throughout the evening despite our attempts to be friendly and helpful. Had it not been a special occasion for us we would have complained to the manager. Such a terrible shame as the owners and chefs clearly do an amazing job.

This was BY FAR one of the BEST meals I have ever had. Everything tasted so fresh and was home made with so much love. Me and my husband could not stop talking about how incredible this place was. I had the rosti with chicken and herb butter, he had the house bratwurst. We also ordered two of their desserts; the apple strudel, and the molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was AMAZING. Service was FANTASTIC!!! The restaurant was cozy, beautiful, and it felt like a truly local gem. We will ABSOLUTELY be returning to this wonderful restaurant.

The old lady in the restaurant who is possibly the lady boss is a racist. She was rude and only interested in serving her friends. She made a sarcastic gesture when I called her to order the food. When she started serving the food, she left it at the side of the table. She also threw the spoon and fork at our table with a loud thud. Shortly after finishing our meal, she came to clear the plates immediately which is to chase us out of the restaurant. Perhaps she has something against Asians and she doesn’t bother to hide it. Lastly, the restaurant charges 5.50 francs for tap water. Ridiculous. If you are at Interlaken and you would want to try authentic Swiss food, skip this restaurant. Totally spoilt my day!

The 3 of us went out to eat. I thought I could do my girlfriend a favor and bring her dinner. The ravioli for 24.80 are simply the cheapest ravioli from the store with very little tomatoes, nothing more. In my opinion, a menu like that doesn't belong a restaurant and certainly not with the price. I think that's a bummer and a bottomless impudence. The boss is very unfriendly and unable to accept criticism. When I tried to describe the situation to her by phone the next day in order to perhaps come to a solution, I tried to describe what the situation was very objectively and diplomatically, and she followed up with me In just a few words, such behavior is unacceptable for a company. I'll never eat there again

The restaurant is in a quiet place, good vibe. My first founde experience was not good . Maybe I should try in another place to rate it.

Four of us walked in this place and waited 5 minutes until someone noticed us. Then an older lady walks out and instead of greeting us nicely and perhaps introducing herself, offer us a seat, etc (things people do in normal restaurants), she puts her hands up annoyed and says "yes?". Food was not very good and EXTREMELY overpriced. Our server was the only good thing about this visit as she was very polite and helpful. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Absolutely wonderful experience...enquiry was made,if table reservation a must,but was politely told that was not necessary...and still a seat was kept for the two of us...had a delightful cheese fondue and a small side portion of baby potatoes with it...a beer to round it off...excellent service and ambience ,situated in a nice corner of a Swiss village.

We wanted a cheese fondue because we know where to get the best cheese fondue in Interlaken. Unfortunately we were late and it was already reserved, so we looked for an alternative and the lantern was recommended, with the slight undertone "it's a little different". When we arrived after a short walk, we stood for a moment 10 minutes at the entrance as ordered and not picked up, no one paid any attention to us until I went to the bar counter and said we have a reservation. So the waitress took us to a nice table in front of the fireplace in a side room, it's a typical one Rustic, cozy inn, but with a very touristy feel, instead of the Swiss classics, we also found, among other things, pizza and the usual touristy pasta dishes. However, we stuck with our fondue and rösti At the beginning we were given a small plastic bowl with a plastic spoon and a mixture of mayonaise and spices, which was probably intended to be used as a spread for the old and hard bread, which was definitely inedible. Then came the Rösti, it was ok but nothing special, I also get that as a side dish in Germany in the pub. There is a slightly larger selection of fondue, we chose two different ones, but we couldn't notice any difference here, except that it tasted a lot like alcohol and was otherwise very bland. Desserts also very touristy with spaghetti ice cream etc. on the whole, absolutely insufficient for a recommendation in Switzerland, there is one more address in the area to eat better and definitely cheaper. We were probably lucky with the service, we didn't have the old lady but a young blonde who was very friendly...

We were recommended this restaurant by Philip our Air bnb host. Such a gem in nice residential area. The food is wonderful. The rosti is the best and we have tried a number of places during our trip. They also serve a special butter with your bread which is so tasty and they won’t tell us their secret recipe 😂. Go early to get a table. We arrive at 6.15pm and there were still many tables available. By 7pm they were nearly full.

Nice little Swiss restaurant. We were excited to try Swiss fondue for the first time. The cheese was so strong with alcohol that we didn’t enjoy it that much. We would order it without alcohol next time. The juicy pork chop was excellent though!

After more than twenty years of customer loyalty and recommendations, I can unfortunately no longer recommend the restaurant after my last visit (February 20, 2023). When I pointed out that the salad did not meet the usual standards of the restaurant, the landlady replied that my statement was NOT TRUE. I would have hoped for different behavior. What really affected me is that they obviously don't take comments from guests seriously. Thank you very much, Ms. Kaufmann

Highly recommended! We have a baby and they were super friendly about it. They have a high chair and toys for the baby. The food is also super delicious.
